I still own a Lumia 930. Bought it about 1.5 years ago off a junkie for $25 with a smashed glass, bought another phone with a dead board and built one good unit (for the most part). It has some issues because the phone i got the screen off had also been dropped, but refuses to die entirely, and i'd rather spend my money on tools at this moment. If the main difficulty is making a good connection around the pcb plug, why not design it to attach by reflow soldering? There is already solder on the plug and a little extra on the wireless ribbon with some user applied flux might make a reliable connection once soldred. If the ribbon were made with Mylar you could solder it directly with an iron. Alternativly, it looks like you were applying foam tape on top of the plug to press the wireless charging ribbon against the pcb? Why not make a thin foam backing for the wireless charging ribbon that gets compressed under the plug when the shield is screwed down?

Yes, Yeke is actively working on this already. Apple actually puts foam around the plug on the logic board already, but Yeke thinks it is too soft (and I tend to agree). So he's experimenting with replacing it with silicone. Still working out some of the kinks in that scheme though...
Craig Ferguson The phone wouldn't know it's charging if it goes direct to the battery. It would also need a charging controller. Far better to provide the phone with power and let it handle the battery.

One of the things I've gathered from watching Strange Parts is that, regardless of what kind of phone you prefer, it's insanely difficult to not admit the incredible engineering feats that go into these amazing little devices. The very same little devices that help run our lives and keep us connected.

we always think of "made in china" as cheap and nasty parts. In all honesty, i totally think the opposite now. After watching all of these videos and even the ones in the factories, they all seem to be very technical and clever. Way beyond the tech in Britain. Yes its mass produced and cheaper because of that but they do make some incredible stuff.
Awesome video again and amazing skills :) Your video editing is impressive. From what I understood some is doing this work for you, correct? So a question come to mind. When you are filming your work at your own desk, who is filming? I am talking about the B-roll of the assembly... Thanks for what you do. I think it is in the likes of Rich the guy who rebuilds Tesla cars. No large corporation is protected from the ingenuity of its clients.
I filmed all of the footage for this video, but I have an editor that I work with that does most of the editing work. I used to do the editing myself, but it's simply too time consuming to do that and everything else. We collaborate on the story line and a lot of the editing choices though...
The time you spent to make videos was absolutely worth it don't worry about uploading consistently, we will always be there for you and will support your channel!! :) :)

Well, it's very common to see foreigners on the street. However, not so common if the guy is talking with his phone delightfully without looking out for traffic, lol. We love the spirits of geeks but just mind the crowds in China so you would not frequently bump into people.
that would be a really bad idea, as big companies will milk him for his ideas. what he should do is expand his business, he already has the products that will make everyone go gaga over.

I think he's trying to say Yeke.
LMAO!!! "ye"

this made my day.

After watching one of these I always feel that any project is possible... I then try something and am brought back to reality but still so inspiring! I am currently trying to mod an old macbook pros touch pad and keyboard connector to work via usb for a raspberry pi in the casing. (My way of trying to reuse a totalled seawater damaged macbook) and always have one of your videos in the background to keep me persistent and humble in the face of project adversity just like you.
Apple switched from USB to SPI for kbd and trackpad several years ago.. hope you have that worked out
@@matthewghali2987 This is one of the more antiquated models that is based on usb I have just soldered onto the test points on the board however I'm also looking at doing this on newer models and have seen spi converter boards that could work?
Great video! How about adding all the modifications you have done until now plus a few future ones into one single device as a "final" challenge? ;)
One of the things I've gathered from watching Strange Parts is that, regardless of what kind of phone you prefer, it's insanely difficult to not admit the incredible engineering feats that go into these amazing little devices. The very same little devices that help run our lives and keep us connected.
This guy's sleeping ethic is TOP NOTCH, I haven't had a good night's sleep in ages and he just can "interrupt" on the spot and try again tomorrow with zero problem whatsoever, almost makes me wish if takes something before bed time :)
again again and again, you're great man, iPhone enginer must be watching you now 😂
Yes, I've even spoken to a few:)
thay call iPhone guys....😂
They must be terrified as strange parts is destroying their business
And they must be terrified 😂😂
No, they're not terrified. They find what I do very amusing:)
Next project suggestion >> You can try to replace the iPhone Lightning Connector for a Type-C Connector :), Great idea to save money and don't buy Apple OEM Lightning Cables Crap ever again. Anyways, good luck in any future adventure :)
for me personally id buy a usb c to lightning adapter, buy a good usb c cable and plug the adapter into the cable. simple, cheap, reliable
You should try Apple lightning cable from Ugreen. I think it's better than Apple original cable, have Apple MFi and much cheaper.
The Chinese, the ultimate in Improvise. Adapt. Overcome.
I’ve watched all your videos from start to end, great content.
Supporting from London 🇬🇧
The thing I love about your videos is that you show you messing up. That is what doing any of this is like. A lot of trial and error.
In the past it was said Made in China stands for bad quality. For me today Made in China means a kind of quality of its own.
China:Honest Pricing (I have a Xiaomi Redmi 4A,and I paid around BRL$338 for It.But,the Samsung Galaxy J1 Mini is more expensive and has worse specs).
we always think of "made in china" as cheap and nasty parts.
Scotty and Rich should definitely do a collaboration and build an iphone car before Apple does it.
springbay1 totally they should
Wireless charging Tesla? haha JK If only we had the Tech
@@christophersmith9233
It's possible if we think hard about it lol
You said: “hey Siri it’s me” and my Siri is like “hello” WTFF THAT SCARED ME 🤣🤣🤣
You are the friendliest youtuber!!!
And your journey is my inspiration...
KEEP DEBUGGING LIFE ! ! ! 😉👍
Now make an iPhone 7 with wireless charging AND a headphone jack AND USB-C AND an OLED screen :D
King Kunta he already did the headphone jack
Sample Text I meant all in one phone
I think usb-c is possible but its too good to be true for using an oled display on an older iphone 7 😂😂😂
Prof. Lithium I think it'll work, just swap out the LCD for an OLED, OLED's are thinner so it should fit
Or Just buy an Android device for half The price 🙃
The time you spent to make videos was absolutely worth it don't worry about uploading consistently, we will always be there for you and will support your channel!! :) :)
Watched the full video, if so give a like to this comment.
Ya
I kinda feel like he should split this video in two episodes. It's a lot of work to get so little views.
@@ShakamuraGames yuppp he deserves more views, he also assisted me in making my RUclips video on how to build a smartphone.
next level install iOS on a smartphone 🔥🔥 A legend u are
Perfect timing, just as food got ready! Watch Strange Parts and have good food, best evening ever! :D
how about 2x battery ? put 2battery on your phone with new THICC coustom case
오승헌 pubg gang
LOL
오승헌 u could get that kind of battery upgrade back for iPhone on taobao before maybe 2 years
My electric toothbrush has had this technology for about 20 years now.
Ikr
So we have to convert your phone to a single 2/3 AA cell
With the main difference that a toothbrush has a 3D charger, structurally very similar to a female-male connector but waterproof, very similar to a classical transformator, while this 'modern' wireless charger is 'planar'.
You have had the same toothbrush for 20 years ??
Damian Montes Vargas you can just replace the top of the brush. Buy the whole thing for $XX and then just but the bristles for cheap.
3:35 he speaks a little bit of english
Chines guy seys 3 times YEA😂😂😂😂
Yea

Imagine breaking your iphone 7 which warranty ran out and come back to the store with a iphone 7 with a headohone jack wireless charging 512gb memory and custom light up logo
*APPLE IS SHOOK*
they would take your phone and never give it back stating some copywriter mumbojumbo
@@imchris5000 Well no. They would Just refuse to repair it. There is a Video of a guy walking into an Apple Store with the iGlow mod.
No, you are sued! Haha
Lol warranty doesn't matter if he can personally fix everything himself
Wow, Shenzhen is indeed a magical place.
39 minutes... Completely worth it, so hard to see such quality content here on YT!
What I most like is that you don't simply show what you did but also the effort you put into making that work, and that's amazing :D
This is amazing. I'm sure iphone 7 and 6, and 6s sales would skyrocket because of this
I bet these people already figured out a way to remove notches from phones.
ikr
😂😂😂😂😂😁
That would be nice
yeah and its called the vivo nex.
nikz Hes talking about Apple, not Vivo.
China is a DIY paradise! Love this series
I think it would be easier to put it on the 4S because it has glass back right?
or the 5c, or the SE
MyBrothersMario the SE is metal
The SE is metal so it wouldn’t work
Right you are, I was thinking it was in the case of a 4/4s, forgot the 5/5s/5c all also used a similar design but with a metal back.
I love how patient the kid is
We learn every time u upload
I like how he's like the center of everyone's attention while he's walking down the street😂
He's a ginger white guy talking to a camera in China.
Like how an African talking to a Camera in his native language to a camera down the street would be looked at.
Well, it's very common to see foreigners on the street. However, not so common if the guy is talking with his phone delightfully without looking out for traffic, lol. We love the spirits of geeks but just mind the crowds in China so you would not frequently bump into people.
He is also like 6ft plus
You should replace Tim Cook.
Apple's sells will skyrocket.
I just found your channel 2 days ago and I've been watching your videos ever since and I can't tell you how much you've inspired me!!
Yeke should be working for a big smartphone company... Someone hire the genius..
that would be a really bad idea, as big companies will milk him for his ideas. what he should do is expand his business, he already has the products that will make everyone go gaga over.
Oooh, almost 40 minutes???? Can't wait to watch it when I'm out of class
leave class
Sam T Who needs school when you have YT
Hey, does anyone know how I can get hold of the wireless charging part for the iPhone 7???
It's in the video description
I can only dream about doing what you do man I bet you have met some of the most interesting people over there and have memories that will last a lifetime
name of the translator app do u use?
Mostly Google Translate. But I also use Microsoft Translate (it can do all of the text in an image at once) and Pleco (for looking up specific words when accuracy really matters). WeChat also has translation built in.
The best part of this video was just the slow Mo cinematic shot of the shirtless dude
This is great Scotty! Finally, a wireless charging iphone! Awesome!
here's another challenge for you Scotty, Oppo has released a mobile phone where you can fully charge you phone for 5 minutes. As I check out their website, it seems that their charger is giving an output of 4 amps instead of 1 amp. I don't know if its only with their charger and battery or needs another add on logic board for it.... and I want to see this also on your Iphone. :)
I have severe doubts.
Yeah every phone in the world except iPhones have this.
It will either blow our mind or his house 😂.
The Geek and Techie in me loves these videos, thanks for uploading them. You have a great relaxed manner by the way, which makes for relaxed viewing. Great job!!
Sir for how long u have been living in China ???
I've been going to China on and off for about 3 years now.

Great music, I found you listed the tracklist - thank you for that. Also good hand skills and interesting video.
I just found your videos today, and now I'm totally obsessed! I've been watching for almost 3 hours straight, Lol! I'm fascinated by small circuitry and electronics. Super awesome videos, keep up the good work!
Try installing the fingerprint sensor on the iPhone X. It's hard to get it working both software and hardware wise, but I'm confident you can do it.
Harbir Singh pretty much impossible. this is just feeding voltage into the chip not bypassing a security measure. the only thing you could do is like disable the screen unless you scan your finger
I would say those "MADE IN CHINA" are actually pretty well-made for its price.

Try and put a new iphone logic board into a 6/6s and see if you get the features like swipe to go home and tap tap wake.
The only obsessive thing I like abt these videos is when the answer to all his completed projects is "YES😂Its possible!!". An I always love the fact that there's always a possibility that the chances are every possible thing u can do with either phone model is that it works. Great job on the task of finding out if u can wirelessy charge an Iphone 7 💯💯👍 Great effort man, loving your videos keep at it 😁
How much do they charge inside the markets to install the module? Module/Labor included.
I would like to know too
Prob the same as a new iPhone 6
Wait if something needs to be plugged in the lightning connector why not just use a magnetic lightning tip? You know the ones for the Snap-on cables
Now add USB-C to a iPhone!
@Lord Unknown exactly what I thought
@Lord Unknown or... Just have a usb-c cable lol.
