    Well, guys, this arguably my favorite video I have produced. What stop was your favorite on our trip and what is your favorite watch shop in the NYC? Also, please consider supporting me on Patreon so I can help fund a college kid to help with editing my videos. The bottleneck for me is editing and balancing my full-time job of working 50-60 hours a week with making the content I love. My goal is to get to daily uploads without having to sacrifice any quality. I have some cool perks on Patreon too so give it a look. Regardless, thanks for watching and for your continued support!

    The Horological Society's monthly lectures are also amazing if you're in the city and want to learn more. Just last year heard: Jack Forster of Hodinkee, William Messena, Rebecca Struthers, Kathleen McGivney of RedBar, and Roger Smith.
    Two years ago, I was just wearing a Seiko 5 and didn't know how an escapement worked. Now I'm going to auctions and looking at Phillipe Dufours under loupes lol. New York is great.

    • @TeddyBaldassarre
      @TeddyBaldassarre  6 лет назад +2

      I have heard about those lectures. I believe I always see Hodinkee posting about them on Instagram. Hahaha it sounds like we started getting the bug for watches around the same time. I envy your ability to have so many resources in town around the clock. (Ouch, bad pun)

    Hi Teddy. Wow, that was a cool video! I love it that you are able to get out and about and show us various watch shops and repair sites. It sounded like you had a secret knock to get in to Analog/Shift. Hi Teddy. When I go to different cities (or countries) I always try to find things that are 'out-of-left field' and a bit off the beaten track. I never like feeling like I look like a tourist!! Second hand/vintage watch shops and guitar shops tend to figure highly in my 'go-to' places. Same as restaurants - I go to where the locals go, try to eat what they eat and try to drink what they drink - at least in MOST cases!!!!!

    Vintage watches are other people’s history. Not sure I could wear a second hand watch that I didn’t know it’s history.
    I’m actually picking up my 1970’s Tissot from the repair shop today after deciding to get my own “vintage” watch up and working again. All those knocks and scrapes are a part of my life.

    Hi Teddy! I subscribed last week and I've enjoyed your videos. I was just about to ask if you've thought about making a video that included content about repair shops as we all need some type service at some point, so I was pleased to see you covered some of that here. I've had a small collection over the last couple of decades that has spanned from Timex to Rolex, and I've enjoyed them all. Great work on the videos! I think this one and the one that shows your collection are my two favorites so far, but I've enjoyed them all!

      Cool. Looking forward to it. The first watch I bought (which is now a slight collectors item) was a Timex Camper (or military) wind-up, green plastic case and band. Someone at work had one and it took me back to the first watch my parents bought me, also a Timex wind-up. A Seiko diver was my second watch which I mainly bought to swim with, and then I found a deal through a vintage DJ with an acrylic crystal for $800. I never should have sold that watch, but we all make mistakes. I also bought a new GMT Master II in the 90s for close to $3K. That's how much they were then. Another mistake made by selling it.😑 I've had a few other high end watches since then but I really like the vintage mechanical watches. I was going to comment on one of your other videos that people should just buy what they like. Thanks for your reply! Some of my friends have also subscribed to your channel as well. I don't do Instagram but as another user said; I may just sign up to follow you there. Have you ever thought about starting a group on Facebook?

    Teddy, have loved watching your videos--I appreciate the time you spend each week making such great content! Can I suggest a watch aficionado meet-up next time you're in NYC? I'd be happy to get us some space at the Yale Club across from Grand Central or we could go out to a watch destination as a group. Let me know if that's something you'd be down for. You might also want to come out to Menfluential (used to be called StyleCon, run by Aaron Marino and Antonio Centeno) next year--it's a great group of influencers to get connected to as the channel grows.

    You have one cool flow going, Teddy. Just today ran into a 16220 (steel, grey silver dial, box papers), for $3k (no tax) at a mom and pop. Not sure since I have my 16013 2 tone, but damn even these older DJ's keep going up, hitting $4k plus. Analogs Shift's space could be my NYC pad. King James liked da weather, lol. Best, JP

      Oh wow, that is a great deal. I have been amazed that even since buying my first DJ a year ago, how quickly the prices are rising. And totally agree about their space, it was too cool. I’ve been getting into watches the last year or two and one of my biggest frustrations is that I don’t know where to go to see watches in person. Department stores definitely aren’t the place to go and stores that only sell watches are extremely hard to find.

    • @TeddyBaldassarre
      @TeddyBaldassarre  6 лет назад +2

      I totally feel that frustration. I will say that most metropolitan areas have a nice couple shops to go to, but it is totally dependent on where you live. Seeing them in person is always helpful before making a big purchase.
