    Steve.... Thank you so much! I have been struggling with the part on the 5th and 7th frets, after you play on the 12th and 14th frets... (if that makes sense?) :) Anyway, I get it!! I am almost 49, and took a 15 year hiatus from the guitar after having a stroke, and I forgot/lost so much!! This tutorial shed some badly needed light on one of my all time favorite songs!! Keep up the great work! Mark in Minnesota.....

    I am not a novice yet always learning I stumbled on your teaching ....you are probably one of very few that teach correctly by actually knowing how to play then teaching it. Technique is the key with repetition...most do not do any of this up close they try to fake it...I have been playing a long time & I wish that someone like you was teaching but had to go through the hard way self study hours of playing & fun I too play by ear back then no tabs no apps some hired private music teachers was a real pain but great job keep playing keep teaching love seeing this

    Hi Steve it took me 10 years to get this song down and you showed me a couple notes I have ignored because as you say, "Play it how you feel comfortable". First thing is the slide up to D I prefer using open D but you are right it rings if you do that and they need to be separate . The other thing I ignored was the 12th fret chime in and just pretended there was 2 guitars playing like Kansas actually has with a lead and one is the Harmony. I don't know if I have the time to do both at the timing the song plays but with another 10 years I might get it down..lol Thanx for the insight. when is the next video to show me what else I am doing wrong in this song. My band has been playing this the same way for the past 4 years and the audience loves it.

  • @scootergreen3
    @scootergreen3 9 лет назад

    What are the 3 screws and the silver bar between the fretboard and the headstock. Does that keep the guitar in tune and can I buy that and will it install on my 1970 Gibson melody maker or most guitars? What is it called?

    • @svenericklemantowitz7233
      @svenericklemantowitz7233 9 лет назад

      That's a Floyd Rose Locking Tremolo. There are even cheap guitars that have it, you should try before buying a kit which costs a few hundred dollar.
      The guitar will stay in tune but it takes much time to set it up and to change strings.
      But I had never a guitar with Floyd Rose, so just look it up.
