My Mom's boyfriend passed away from cancer recently. He had a rough childhood and his parents dedicated this song to him. He didn't like it because he thought they wanted him dead, but my mom told Eric to listen to it in another way. This became one of his favorites. God bless his soul.

If he was killed by a monster, he wouldn't have had enough time to go peacefully. HECK he said "i love you" DIRECTLY to Sam, when has that ever happened? Dean always wanted Sam to have a normal life, and if you think about it, as long as Dean lived they were gonna work on cases forever. Sam wouldn't have lived to grow old and have a family (something Sam always wanted) if Dean lived. It wasn't as bad as you think. Yeah he didn't die by sacrifice, like Killing Amara or Chuck or for Sam, but none of those "deaths" have been as emotional and true as Season 15. His death didn't need to be glorious... and neither did Sam's
