    You are kind of right about the US troops. Most of their kit was green, but it was lip service to camouflage. They hit the beaches of Nth Africa in that same green that stood out like a sore thumb in comparison to Commonwealth, Italian and DAK forces. The colour was darker than the surroundings which worked out nicely for the enemy.

    Contrast paints are just incredible. They take all the effort out of painting and give such great results.

    Hi Tom, are you planning on doing anymore videos on painting the German panzer 4’s?
    Loved the woodland Camo ones you did, so looking forward to seeing how you’ll paint others.

      Yeah the camo tanks were a lot of fun to paint. Unfortunately I’ve run out of panzers to paint now.

  • @MattGoodfellow

    Thanks, might help to label the colors used where (faces, tank, uniforms, etc). Also, torn between my normal white primer or considering wraithbone. Great video.

    • @paintngamecorner5229
      @paintngamecorner5229  Год назад

      White primer will be fine, but may give brighter results (in comparison to warmer tones with Wraithbone), however, Wraithbone is not cheap. Another technique is zenethal priming, using a dark grey primer all over, then spray lightly at a slight angle from above. This gives shadows and a more realistic finish on contrasts. I just like the minis popping on the table rather than going for realism. Personal choice really.

    Great idea, I had not thought about contrast paints for these models. I use inks over white or grey, but as yet have not given contrast a go. Will you be doing a second part to show you finishing them off?

    Great idea! I am going to try this for sure!
    Did you wash the models first?
    And also, could you include the name of the washes you used in the decription?

    • @paintngamecorner5229
      @paintngamecorner5229  3 года назад

      No I did not wash the minis before hand. I have only had a problem with this once out of all the times I have painted models. I did not use washes for these minis, but Citadel Contrast Paints, which are like thicker washes that do the wash and highlight part of traditional paints.

    • @Fjongus
      @Fjongus 3 года назад +1

      @@paintngamecorner5229 thanks, I meant the name of the contrast paints of course, not washes. Brain fart on my side.

    Any chance you can post the paints and primers used? This looks like the perfect solution for me as I've never painted before and have wanted to paint my Memoir 44 for years! Thanks for the video!!!

    • @paintngamecorner5229
      @paintngamecorner5229  2 года назад +1

      Hey Disc Golf Bear, I use Citadel Wraithbone primer spray always when using contrast paints. It gives such a nice warm tone. For the paints, I show the ones I used in the video, the key ones for this one were: Basilicanum Grey, Militarium Green, Aggaros Dunes, Guilliman Flesh, Black Templar, with Lead Blecher base paint too.
      Contrasts are a fantastic way to get into painting, especially if you do not need to reinvest in a whole new set of paints. Highly recommend it.👍

      @@paintngamecorner5229 thank you so much! I ordered those paints and I will give it a go. I've always wanted to paint these but all the washing, etc was intimidating. Thanks again for the video showing these paints on Memoir. Very inspiring! Cheers!

  • @LeverActionLarry
    @LeverActionLarry 2 года назад +1

    Quick question: did you have to tack town the pieces when spraying the primer (so they don't fall over)? I'm going to attempt to prime today! Thanks in advance.

    • @paintngamecorner5229
      @paintngamecorner5229  2 года назад +2

      Nope I just stood them on a box and sprayed. Should be spraying about 30 cm away so they stayed up for me. You could of course use blue tack to ensure they stay up though. Did this with another set of 15 mm minis.
