When you moved the fan up the shaft, the blades were already clear of the coil assembly. You could have simply removed the motor/fan assembly as one unit at that point which would have been less of a risk in damaging the coil fins, then fix it properly on a workbench. Also an easier method than taping the fan blades would have been to mark the shaft at the point where the fan blades are with a black or silver sharpie or use a marker that's specifically designed for such tasks. Great tips though - thanks!

It was mostly the extra long motor shaft that was giving me trouble, thanks for contributing.

I thought about marking the shaft too, but that's the old shaft & won't be there upon replacement. I think I'll mark my blades, as you say, with a white marker.

Most informative “how to” video on this replacement of fan motor! Best I’ve watched, even though I won’t be using all your expensive (great to have if this is your job) tools! I really like your planning and thoughts, like tape on blades to insure placement. Thanks!! Excellent video! I think the foam in the shroud is to prevent it from moving at highway speed. If you were going to isolate one side of the condenser coil from the other, there would be a separate housing around it like the one around the evaporator coil.

@@ktoutdoor I was actually able to find a "clue" based on the Mach wiring diagram online. It shows the brown and brown/white with quick connectors. My AC had no QCs from the Forest River factory, and the motor I purchased came with only one quick connector, which happened to be on one of the whites. So I butt connected the motor white to the AC brown/white, and now it's purring like a kitten. FYI for anyone else who comes across the same problem. 👍

@@jerryreding7369this is why ordering parts from Amazon isn't a great idea. Also, NEVER order a slide motor from Amazon. Most of the ones that you will find on there (unless you go with ones from lippert or other actual RV slide manufacturers) will not have a clutch in the electric motors. Without the clutch, you will eject the side from the rig.
