My video on replacing all capacitors on a Colman Mach Air conditioner
• WARNING Your RV Air Co...
When you moved the fan up the shaft, the blades were already clear of the coil assembly. You could have simply removed the motor/fan assembly as one unit at that point which would have been less of a risk in damaging the coil fins, then fix it properly on a workbench. Also an easier method than taping the fan blades would have been to mark the shaft at the point where the fan blades are with a black or silver sharpie or use a marker that's specifically designed for such tasks. Great tips though - thanks!
It was mostly the extra long motor shaft that was giving me trouble, thanks for contributing.
I'm doing mine today. Kinda thinking about just cutting the shaft off the old motor, with a cutting wheel.
I thought about marking the shaft too, but that's the old shaft & won't be there upon replacement. I think I'll mark my blades, as you say, with a white marker.
@@jarrod9152 How did you make out?
@@ktoutdoor It was super easy, especially after watching this video. I had everything I needed in one trip & it took me less than 2 hours to pull the old one, clean the components & install the new one. Works great, nice & quiet.
This was a huge help, once I saw your video it took me less than an hour to do both units on my RV!
So glad it helped you with your project.
Most informative “how to” video on this replacement of fan motor! Best I’ve watched, even though I won’t be using all your expensive (great to have if this is your job) tools! I really like your planning and thoughts, like tape on blades to insure placement. Thanks!! I’m a female that learns from listening and watching others...research before doing and then doing the repairs myself. 😊
Thank you for the kind words have a blessed day
Thanks for the video. It totally helps me with my AC. I have the same AC and blower motor on the rear AC went bad. Thanks again for the video.
Just wanted to say thank you for detailed video. I just replaced both of my motors on my Coleman Mach AC units. One was shot and I figured I do both since I was going up on the roof.
Thank you for the kind word Matt its comments like your that encourage me to make more videos. Have a blessed day.
Excellent video, thank you! I was able to replace my fan motor
Thanks for watching. Ours is still working.. used it today.
Great video. My 2006 ac went out in my jayco. Same issue. Thank you
nice video... i learned two super inmportant things.
thanks!
Thanks again kevin!
Your video was spot on. Thank you.
It helped me do the job today. I replaced mine with the Fasco brand, part number D1092. I purchased it on Amazon from the Electric Motor Warehouse in Greensboro NC, for $135. Shipping was fast and free.
So glad you found my video useful thanks for leaving a comment and letting me know
Thanks for the video.. our fan broke, we are looking to find a new one and to replace it.
Excellent video! I think the foam in the shroud is to prevent it from moving at highway speed. If you were going to isolate one side of the condenser coil from the other, there would be a separate housing around it like the one around the evaporator coil.
Great video!! Very informative and well rounded. I feel very confident tackling this job myself now. Thanks Kevin!
Thanks for the kind words, ours is still running fine after the repair.
@@ktoutdoor That is good to hear! Just installed mine last week and it works like a charm. Couldn't have done it without you!
Thx my friend for sharing!!! I like your wire stripper tool ! I have the Vise-Grip wire stripper tool, works the same too, it also was a great addition to the tool box. As you know we can never have enough cool tools !
I have a dometic harrier inverter rv aircon on van roof.
Not same type but your vid helps nonetheless.
I had a squirrel fan shatter on condenser motor.
Replaced both fan blades, one each side of motor, but condenser motor not starting.
Was advised to replace the 3 sensor harness, no go.
About to test caps but cant find them....will test motor first.....
Aircon 7 yrs old had been working fine up until fan blade shattered....weird.
Another great technical video. Very informative and useful.
Thanks for your time to make awesome videos. God Bless
Thank you Randy
Thanks for the info. I was trying to replace my motor today and had the same problem with the fan hitting the condenser. I didn’t think I should need to move the condenser to remove the old blower motor. It seems like a small design flaw. I’ll try again tomorrow morning.
You are the man Kevin! Thanks for this video. As an aside, did you ever get a video out to show us how you dealt with your solar componants and the logic you followed with what you've got? If not, it woyld be interesting.
Yes that would be easy to do.
Excelente video thanks
Thank you
Awesome video..very easy to understand
Thank you for the kind words have a blessed day.
Thanks for the tip on the wire stripping pliers and the link for it on Amazon.
One of my favorite tools for sure.
Question: How did make the inside ends for protection and better air flow in the cover? Is it foam??
Yes made from a old seat cushion that I pulled the foam out of.
Wow! Fast reply! Thanks! I will look into doing it.
So when you are putting the brown wire on the new Capacitor, did it matter which side you put it on??
No it does not matter on the 2 brown wires that goes on the fan capacitor either way it works just the same.
Omg thank you for replying!! It's over 100° where I am and my motor is giving out on me. Your video helped a ton.
Yep same here
Didya remove the blue tape off the fan blades ?
Watchin from Australia 😊
Yes thanks for watching, from the land down under.
Maybe I can just get away with changing the sleeve bearing
Fan spins if you make it with it off and with it turned on it'll only spin if I hold down pressure on the shaft (used my screw driver)
Sometimes the shaft will wear down, so get a micrometer to make sure.
Thanks for the detailed instructions Kevin! I'm about to do this myself this weekend. Do you need to replace both fan capacitors? I have the one you replaced in the video but I see there's another one that is more round (Coleman Capacitor 1499-5731)
This video may help ruclips.net/video/mVK_ay45BCg/видео.html
While I had it apart I would replace them all note the fan has only 1 capacitor the compressor has 2 a start and a run capacitor text me if you need any help 606-875-0125 Kevin

I have a problem I wasn't counting on. I got a replacement blower motor from Amazon, but there was no wiring diagram or manual, and their customer support couldn't find one either. My Coleman Mach 15 has a white wire and a brown/white wire, but the new motor has two white wires. I'm not sure how to proceed at this point. Any ideas?
Send me some pictures to my cell 606-875-0125 Kevin
@@ktoutdoor I was actually able to find a "clue" based on the Mach wiring diagram online. It shows the brown and brown/white with quick connectors. My AC had no QCs from the Forest River factory, and the motor I purchased came with only one quick connector, which happened to be on one of the whites. So I butt connected the motor white to the AC brown/white, and now it's purring like a kitten. FYI for anyone else who comes across the same problem. 👍
@@jerryreding7369 Thanks for sharing
@@jerryreding7369this is why ordering parts from Amazon isn't a great idea. Also, NEVER order a slide motor from Amazon. Most of the ones that you will find on there (unless you go with ones from lippert or other actual RV slide manufacturers) will not have a clutch in the electric motors. Without the clutch, you will eject the side from the rig.
My fan motor is squeeling really loud so several people have said the bearings are going out & to replace it. I need to order a new one but when I put in the #'s off the old one it brings up several different motors ???? Can you help me figure out what to order ? Im just an old lady & super confused as nothing specific tells me its for my RV! Thanks !!
We need to start with the model number try removing the inside cover and look for a tag with a model number on it. Maybe up inside where the coils is.
@@ktoutdoor I took a picture of the tag while I had the cover off...it says 44A341A so when I google that it brings up several different types ! That is what is confusing me.And I didnt see a "brand name" only made in China, I know its a 1/3 HP 2 speed but other than that Im lost ..thanks for replying !
@@Tcosby That is the compressor model # look for another tag. is this a Coleman unit?
@@ktoutdoor Like I said i know nothing about this but that is the tag off the side of the motor that the squeeling noise is coming from..when I google that # it brings up the motor part ? The one I found on amazon says its a 1/3 hp 115 volt 1625 rpm 2 speed air conditioner motor fasco # 1092? the only other tag I saw was the one for the whole unit which has a model # of 48254c966.
Based on your model number this is the motor you need amzn.to/43P8wXs the very same one i installed
One more question. If I don’t have the other capacitors now. Can I get it up and running again and plan to replace those by fall time? I’m not real mobile, no tow behind vehicle in my class c. I can order online for future change, even though it’d be nice to do it all at one time. 🤷🏼♀️
Sure this video may help also I have links below it for capacitors. My video on replacing all capacitors on a Colman Mach Air conditioner
ruclips.net/video/mVK_ay45BCg/видео.html Best to get the numbers off old capacitors to make sure you get the correct ones or go by the model number
Replacing my fan unit soon hoping that will solve the issue went from working perfect to not at all spins freely motor doesn’t get hot or hum
You might want to get a new capacitor also.amzn.to/428qjYc
@@ktoutdoor I’ve gone thru 2 new ones no change that was my first thought
@spoolin55psi did the fan motor fix your problem? My capacitors test within spec so I'm suspecting the motor is at fault... seems to spin freely though. I did smell an electrical burnt smell, so I'm hoping my converter box isn't fried
@@jamiegear it turned out to be the control board in the roof unit
So I tested my control board, and found only 30vac to the unit on the 120 line... looks like there was a loose screw at my distribution box that caused an overheat issue.
I am awaiting parts to replace my complete power distribution box, and hopefully the low voltage didn't damage my ac control box 🤞
Ok it's in side fAn it's come on and everything gets cold and act like the motor don't sound good and the fan out of line like it bend and Coleman mach15 and it's like 3 years old but it look look like it get hot melt the tape alittle inside RV
Thanks for the info. I was trying to replace my motor today and had the same problem with the fan hitting the condenser. I didn’t think I should need to move the condenser to remove the old blower motor. It seems like a small design flaw. I’ll try again tomorrow morning.
Let me know how you make out.
I took off the fan shroud and moved the condenser a little. Also, I used a paint brush and warm soapy water to clean the hamster wheel. The whole job took under 2 hours from start to finish. Thanks
@@robertwueger Glad to hear you got project completed thanks for contributing.
