I’ve literally never watched Pearl Jam live until now, and watching Eddie perform live, holy shit has my appreciation of Pearl Jam gone to an insane level. Such passion. I hope to look even just a fraction as passionate as him when I play.
his performance at lollapolloza, where he climbed the scaffolding, was super powerful. Not just the climbing stunt. the whole band and esp eddie were on fire. it's in ya, keep trying to let it out. i been playing long time. haven't caught my idols but I am closer to my own best self, musically. that's fun. rock on!

You can argue that singers like Ronnie Dio and Chris Cornell, strictly speaking, had a more powerful singing voice, but there is more to being a rock singer than just the sheer power of your vocal instrument... You have to factor in things like attitude, style, innovation, lyrics, cultural impact, etc.
That seems to be Matt's fault. Watch any show without him, it's bound to sound pretty close to this tempo. Any show with him, they're playing like they just realised they left all of their ovens on.

What happened simultaneously with rock music during the 90s in both the US and UK was a true gift. The bands and albums that came out from both side of the Atlantic that decade will never be rivaled. Partly because society is worse than it was during that time, partly due to technology. If you were old enough to be a teenager during the 90s you were very lucky to be born when you did.
I always liked Eddie Vedder’s unique way of expressing emotion on stage within his song. No one does it quite like him. Did he say “Squeeze my balls?” Towards the end? Lol

yes!! his drumming is almost jazzy, lost of snares. sounds so great. matt cameron drums sounds so short, hard single beats (not sure how to describe-..lol) he was great at Soundgarden but does not fit great to PJ music imo.

Just came here after Dave sent me a video of him and Pseutopia covering Seasons. I read some of the comments and wanted to do a little comparison of Dave's days vs. now. Man, even more of a difference than I expected. Dave is the dude,. hands down.
Matt has to play fast in order to get his touch and has to show off a lot just to make the band impressive which to contrary it didn't. So much simpleness swag and magic are missed from Dave A and Jack Irons.
