Saw it last night. You’re right about the plot. But the plot is Deadpool and Wolverine, and that’s all it needed. At least for its target audience
in my mind, this isn't really a MCU movie. it's more like Ryan Reynolds has broken into the MCU to have a joyride with it.
It was made by Marvel Studious so yes objectvely it is an Mcu movie.
Same with NO WAY HOME. We’ve seen multiverse of just Spider-Men and now a multiverse of FOX MARVEL characters. Time to just JUMP IN to SECRET WARS…. Really.

just realized Deadpool’s first action sequence in this movie is set to Bye Bye Bye by Nsync and that was the song that was playing in Scotts car in X2 when Pryo turns on the radio… coincidence?

Yeah, me too. So much potential, never to be seen again, and just bleah. I enjoyed the movie tremendously, but felt the weaknesses afterward.
Thank you for not spoiling! I saw the movie last night at my local theatre and it was a great experience. We did not stay quiet. We laughed out loud and cheered loudly as well.
I’m a HUGE movie lover/fanatic and aspiring actress. I actually work at a movie theater as well. I’ve already watched 23 new releases in the movie theater this year. I know we are going to be crazy busy for Deadpool and Wolverine this weekend. I’m excited to watch it! This was another good movie review. ❤❤❤❤

If you like Marvel, you will be heavily pleased.
Just saw it and thought it was a great time! Sure it had it's structural problems at times but I had a smile on my face for the vast majority... It's not a perfect film but it is absolutely a lot of fun and I was definitely satisfied with the end product.

That’s what I was concerned about by the trailers. The tone seems incongruous. Which could work but is beyond the current talent level in the MCU writer bullpen. I’m still excited to see it and I’ll probably enjoy it though.
Update: The movie is very fun and the messiness doesn’t really matter.

I have seen several non-spoiler reviews and although their may be little things in the movie that are less than perfect it's reviews consistently say it's an awesome fun time at the movie theater and that's all I want it to be .
I saw it last night. It's not terrible, but it's not as good as people are saying and on the final act the fights have inadequate motivation and are a bit silly with a silly ending. I found the way they triumph over the vilian to be unsatisfying.
Agree. Overall I was disappointed. There’s things to like but the plot weak and I felt like it played things safe. Nothing really interesting happened. I give it a 6 or 7 out of 10.

If you actually read the RT reviews most of them are generally negative saying exactly this: it’s overhyped, messy, and basically just feel good junk food… then they’ll give it a 6/10 or a 2.5/5 and it will still be rated ‘fresh’ - I caught wind last night that this was getting overhyped and am glad I was able to refund my ticket and have a quiet night in instead. This is a lot of ‘the emperor has no clothes’ yet again it sounds like. Honestly, I was out as soon as I saw the TVA Disney plus tie in from the first shot of the trailer.
@Existentialprophet yes, I too was worried when I saw the TVA... the TVA and the marvel multiverse is some of the lamest stuff they've done and marvel has done a lot of lame stuff since end game.
The more I think about it, the worse it is.
Just came back from an evening screening here in Australia, there are absolutely some jaw dropping moments in there, i had a lot of fun, that's as much as I will say, as a big fan of another franchise Dan likes there was a funny joke alluding to a famous moment in another movie that no one else seemed to get, it was pretty nerdy, gah I can't wait until people see this and I can gush about it

I'm even more excited hearing the Dan review! It's not SEE IT NOW. But I respect saving that like if it cured everything it'd be see now. But I haven't bought a ticket a month in advance in a while so it'll be a fun cinema night to myself!
First Deadpool film given the full stereoscopic 3D treatment, and in IMAX 3D no less. I'm gonna be watching.

I was crying from laughter since the first scene. The references are off the charts. And, yes, avoid spoilers as much as you can, because those surprises taste really sweet, when they are, well, actually surprises. ❤️💛
Saw the movie today. Can confirm there's plenty of surprises. It delivers on the moments you want and hope for from a Deadpool/Wolverine mashup, and like the previous DP movies, has a surprising amount of heart.

We know from Jackman's catalogue that he is a stellar actor at this point and a massive draw in his own right. Great to hear he doesn't disappoint here with his most iconic role. Sounds like the film doesn't disappoint either and this one will probably hit the global $billion.
I went in blind on this other than knowing Wolverine would be back. And if anyone has managed to stay away this long from seeing anything, click off this review and come back when you watch it. It's great.
Just went to see this last night and for sure it is the type of movie that will need to be watched a few times.
Dan is right about the jaw dropping moments. Having also seen the film I would echo his concerns about story, but I’d also add that some key moments were not fully fleshed out and one song in particular was way overused. D&W is definitely a large bandaid, but Captain America 4 will be more important in understanding where this IP is actually going.
Loads of fighting and 116 f- bombs the end
I liked it a lot, the only points that disappointed were the group fight you talked about and the other fight with lots of people in it. Like you said you cant really focus to see what you want to. A shame as the fights with fewer people were great.

The problem is Wolverine's conflict ALL happens off-screen and we have to learn about it through two annoying ways: dialogue and psychic-metaphor
That will always hamstring its relevance and interest

A rare non-spoiling non-spoiler review is nice to see from Dan. I still don't risk watching this channel beforehand anymore but it's a nice change to see.
I do wish that instead of building up the new wolverines story and then just having him exposition dump on us I wish they couldve SHOWN what had happened.

This was a rollercoaster. We loved seeing this as a family, crass but fun and so full of references and memories. I really cannot recommend it enough. It is a corporate produce but this one respects the customer at long last. Support it in theaters. I am going again next week.

We Loved it! And what a rowdy fun crowd we watched it with! While I get how your least favorite cameo was X-23 due to the story in Logan, but for me, it's what I wanted to see for the character's sake. While it's so well made, Logan was such a downer of a film (only watched once) that I wished the the sickly and dying Logan held on for another 10 years to finally know what it was like to have a family, a daughter at that, and a sense of peace for once in his characters life, while caring and watching over these new X-kids and seeing them off into the world. And the movie could have ended the same but with all them grown up, standing around his grave before moving on. I would have preferred that over the suddenness and shock of him impaled and holding this little girls hand, and dies. Leaving her and the other children to fend for themselves even though he saved them...but I was depressed at the imagery and the narrative. Here, the movie ends with X-23 alongside him. For me it was something that needed to be made right ! Finally! A deserved ending for a great hero! Living alongside his daughter with purpose and peace. I LOVED it!
This film was very fun and enjoyable but I thought the villain was pretty meh and the plot was weak. Also don’t think this film pushes the MCU forward at all. But it’s still super funny and a good time
Unless Agents of SHIELD are in this movie, it won't surprise me that much.

Saw the movie in Germany today. Not really Deadpools entry into the reality of the MCU but a (well deserved and late) farewell to the FOX Marvel movies. A little bit confused about what reality it is at the end though…

At the end of the movie, Deadpool is back in his timeline, which is separate from the MCU. Wolverine is also in Deadpool's timeline after realizing he couldn't save his and it appears that at least X23 was pulled out of the Void into Deadpool's timeline as well. It's safe to assume some other characters were too.

At the beginning, theres the job interview and it said 616, later DP's earth is 10005. TVA says this reality will fade away over time because Logan died in LOGAN, so 10005 is the LOGAN reality? Why are Colossus and NTW around? They don't behave like X did what he did. If it's supposed to be not happened yet, this means there a 2 Logans in 10005 and an X-23 before X-23 is even created. Maybe I missed a written line on the screen.
Nevertheless keep up the good work!

It probably isn’t the cure all for the MCU creatively but I think it will be a cure all financially for Marvel!!! I’ve never seen more marketing for a movie in my life! I’d be shocked if it didn’t even make back half of the money that was put into advertising alone!

I completely agree with your take on it. The cameos are brilliant and actually feel like they are utilised in a fun way. Also the humour is on point. But it just doesn't have the heart of the first two and the narrative feels like it meanders into tangents sometimes
this guy gets it.. yes the story is shallow and some characters could have been better developed, but for what it promised to deliver - they did immensely well.
This review pretty much assures that I will re-subscribe to Disney+ once this movie gets there.

Literally. Didn’t know all Loki had to do was find a sling ring and the whole plot of those two seasons would’ve been none existent
Watched it at 3:30 today. I loved it! Didn't want to have anything spoiled. The cameos were great, both fan service and purposeful at the same time and of them in particular deserves a chef's kiss. The villain was maybe a bit weak, but I didn't care because the rest was so great. Now that I've seen it, I can finally watch the trailer breakdowns and Dan's review after avoiding all things Deadpool forever!

The sidelining of the characters from the first two movies doesn't sit well with me. And it sounds like the MCU brings some of its story-telling baggage with it, which sucks to hear, because it's really disappointing how messy and unstructured the MCU has gotten since Endgame.

Was an awesome fan fare Midnight Run style that had me hootin’ and hollering throughout .
Had some hiccups due to the writing issues and some pacing issues but was awesome to see Wolverine in full glory
you don't see an MCU movie, you see a Ryan Ranold movie! Shout out to the whole team. they rocked each and every frame and dialogue. I loved it. After a long time I was happy to watch an MCU movie. But, please note that one movie alone cannot save marvel
I have to disagree on the part about indecisiveness of where to put the film. The film was direct from the opening part. Wade was brought to either save or destroy a universe. Simple. That was the whole focus of the movie.
This movie has a heart. These 2 headliners make me feel that they genuinely love and respect their characters. I don't think I consider most characters appearing in this film "cameos" though. They are more like the actual supporting characters that actually drive the story forward. Yes, it's quite a clunky and messy film with a somewhat weaker plot. But it is the most wholesome comic book movie I've ever seen. I fucking love this movie.
I'm actually intrigued now. I have seen and enjoyed most of the MCU movies and TV shows. Though, Deadpool isn't usually my type of humor. I wasn't going to see this, and that's why I decided to look up a review, but now I want to see this.
I just saw the movie. For me it is "The Acolyte"/Sequel Trilogy done right.
I'm assuming it's the cocaine jokes, they definitely got tired as it went on.
We saw the movie yesterday evening and thoroughly enjoyed it; it felt like a love letter to comic book fans. Soooo many easter eggs!
The movie was a bit all over the place, as you pointed out, and if it hadn’t had so many comedic elements, it really wouldn’t have worked IMO. At the end of the day, I'd totally recommend it if you’re into either Deadpool or Marvel.

For me, Characters matter way more than story. From everything I'm hearing from Dan, Deadpool and Wolverine carry this film and neither are played as complete jokes. Let's be honest with Deadpool and his comics, they are never the most creative stories from a thought provoking or message point of view. They tend to keep their overall story through line pretty simple so that the complex situations and wacky shenanigans can carry the work. If this film can do this, I feel like it's going to be a home run even without the world's most nuanced or gripping plot.
Regarding the "shaky cam" fight scene, I understand why they did it that way. Considering the people who are supposed to be in it, they needed to hide the deficiencies one way or another.

The movie was fun, the movie was action packed, the movie's runtime flew by... for me that's a total win.
