West Coast beaches are rougher and colder. You get much north of L.A. and it starts getting rocky with cliffs as well and way too cold for swimming. If you want ocean beaches in Ca definitely check out San Diego. There's a lot of great nature in Ca for sure but beaches (anything involving water actually) are generally better on the East Coast from my experience. Fishing, water sports, surf quality, fresh water access like springs and lakes etc. --I think Fl has Ca beat in that regard.

@@CutThroatBeast Correct. The dew point along with the humidity levels makes the world of a difference. Dew point levels in Florida are usually above 70 everyday. Hence why it is so muggy. Hey Michael, Very excellent job with the comparison between California beaches & Florida beaches.... Really enjoyed hearing your personal point of view & great comparison points made!!!
As a former Californian that loves & adores everything California... I have to say I enjoy both California & Florida beaches, however, the Florida beaches overall are the bigger winner for me and was a major draw for me to leave California & move to Florida full time (3 years ago).
California beaches are better for exercise due to the perfect year round weather which is cooler & has no humidity. There is an over abundance of California beaches that have some form of a boardwalk to walk, jog, skateboard or bike along!!! It is just a very California thing to do & also the perfect weather permits it!!! However, having a boardwalk to exercise on is not that common in Florida & unfortunately rare to find.
Also, as you notice there are Volleyball nets everywhere on all the California beaches, again, the weather is better for playing Volleyball. Also, Surfing is superior in California & is what California is famous for!!! Add in the scenic California Mountains & Hills in the background.... Just Awesome!!! So, for outside exercise at the beach, California wins in this category!!!
However, this true Californian was drawn to the beautiful, clean beaches of Florida with the nice, WARM, clean ocean that you can actually swim in year round!!! For me, the Pacific ocean was too cold even in the Summertime. When I am at the Florida beaches & swimming in the nice, WARM, clean ocean, I feel like I am on a "Tropical Vacation"!!! The Florida Beaches with the WARM ocean was a Big Factor in leaving California & moving to Florida!!! Overall, Florida beaches wins for this Californian... now a Floridian!!!

Nice comparison video. I think it comes down to personal preference on what is better. Especially when it comes to air and water temperature. I don't have to live on the beach. Mostly because I can't afford to in a house the way I would like on the beach. I could settle for being able to drive a short distance. Ideally, if I were rich, I would like a house on the water on a canal or something in south Florida. I like the clear water of Florida. I need to be able to see the bottom easily. Florida has close to the clarity of the Caribbean. I like that. I like the vibe of south Florida beaches. I like the younger active life style and all the many cultures. South Florida has a more international feel that I prefer from many cultures and social economic backgrounds. Great content. Looking forward to more. Thanks

That CA beach looks brown, drab and boring. There’s no vegetation and very few palms. The beaches of Florida’s west coast, backed up by tropical flora and with turquoise water, talcum white sand and gorgeous skies and islands offshore, beats those CA beaches. Of course things are different up in Monterey along that area of the pacific coastline with its sequoia forests, cliffs and idyllic towns.

We take weekend trips around the state several times a year. I like Hollywood Beach in south Florida because of the broad walk. Similar to Hermosa and Redondo. I prefer the Suncoast of Florida on the west coast for beach days. My pick for where I would want to be if money wasn’t a factor is none of them. Mission Beach and Pacific Beach in San Diego is my number 1. You have a board walk like both of them but you have a laid back environment that is unmatched by any of them. San Diego is the best place in the USA bar none.

I remember when I would go to Daytona Beach, and I would see all of these large tall highrises. I was never used to that, as I live near Flagler Beach. If you remember Flagler Beach, then you would know that highrises are not really a thing. (This is because not everyone likes the idea of having towering structures above you at the beach, and it isn't that common to see a beach with no highrises in Florida when you're on the east coast. That's why it's like that over here if you didn't know.) So this was very interesting to see your perspective at Miami Beach. :)

You never want to vacation at the beach in California in certain months like June. We called it June gloom! Also if there is a heat wave inland the coast steams up and the overcast is so dark and even cold surprisingly. I went to Florida once at Daytona beach and I wasnt too impressed but a lot of other beaches I'm sure are stunning. Seems to me southern Florida is more tropical than S. Ocean areas has a lot of fog and overcast weather with average temperatures in the 60's. Also especially LA there is a lot of homeless. Water temperature is usually cold and you will be cold most of the year on the beach. I lived in both LA and San Diego and that's what the weather us truly like. If you like going to the beach year round and not having that real hot heat, go to Clearwater in the gulf. There is always a breeze and besides summer the average temp here otherwise is 78-82 degrees.

My pet peeve are skinny beaches. I need vast sand to feel like I am at the beach. Florida has better beach temp but so cal beaches are actual beaches with enough sand for everyone and more.

Great video! However you maybe should title this Florida vs Southern California beaches. Big difference in California beaches depending on whether you’re in San Diego or eureka
