I’m on the Harbaugh train as well. Honestly that’s the only thing that will keep me a Chargers fan at this point.

If I’m not mistaken, you guys went into a lengthy analysis of TT’s grades year by year, and didn’t even really intend to. To Jaime’s point, what is the criteria? I would love to hear you guys do a whole other episode, with a more predetermined grading criteria, then go through it again! Then talk about how they should be drafting moving forward? Anyhow, love the content - thx Guys!

Just realized I been listening to you guys for awhile and just wasn’t subbed. Damn. No wonder I wasn’t seeing you guys in my feed more often

The stroll down Telesco memory lane really shows something about how outdated his draft style is, the two positions you don’t draft in the first round, RB and LB, he TRADED UP to take in the first round! And he did it twice with LB!

another big mistake TT made: Not resigning Tranquil

In your criticism of the Telesco's drafts I thought I would bring you guys a reality check regarding drafted players second contracts. The retention rate for drafted players by extension or 5th year options is around 1.5 to 1.75 players per team. For players not selected in the first round the retention rate falls to 1 to 1.25 players per team. NFL Teams are lucky to hit on a day 2 or 3 pick that they want to re-sign.
Currently in the league, not counting any players on IR, a quick search of Ourlads depth charts show there are a total of 48 players from the 2019 draft still with their original team on the active roster. 17 of those draft picks were 1st round picks who were either extended or had their fifth year option picked up, 5 were from the second round, 9 from the 3rd, 6 from the 4th, 7 from the 5th, 3 from the 6th, and 1 from the 7th.
The Bengals had the most players retained from 2019 currently on the active roster at 4 with the Raiders and Bucs at 3 apiece. The Texans, Rams, Patriots, and Eagles each had zero. The Chargers had 2: Stick and Pipkins.
    Drafted players still with their original drafting teams currently on their active roster stand at: 2017 - 26 total, 8 1st round; 2018 - 47 total, 11 1st round; 2019 - 48, 17 1st round; 2020 - 110 total, 19 1st, 18 2nd, 21 3rd, 21 4th, 21 5th, 10 6th, 13 7th; 2021 - 145 total, 24 1st; 2022 - 195 total, 30 1st; 2023 - 236 total, 30 1st.
I would argue that Telesco's drafting flaw in not that he is not re-signing his drafted players but is that he isn't drafting enough instant contributing backup players during day 3. Draft picks need to be useful in their first three years because by year 4 under 45% are still on your active roster. Also, since the Anthony Lynn's 2020 special teams debacle that the Chargers have overemphasized drafting special team players rather than competent positional backup players. The NFL has devalued special teams outside of punt returns and coverage, which the NFL is also desperate to devalue like kickoffs, and Ryan Ficken has had too much influence in the draft room and game day roster the last two years.
However, in the 1st round, Telesco has drafted nothing but "instant contributors" during his tenure. He always left one obvious starting position hole on his roster that was going to be filled by the first round draft pick. This could also be said of the second round but this left him no ability to trade back or take the best player available at an impact or expensive roster position. In the Telesco era there have been no draft day first round surprises in position & usually player taken except from the obvious exception of Derwin James. The Telesco Chargers were always one of the easiest team to mock. The last few years I think I would have actually died of of a heart attack if "Stick & Pick" Telesco traded back and tried to maneuver the draft board.

Telesco draft history is so disappointing. One thing not pointed out that I’m a firm believer in.. Ramsey would’ve been a better pick at 3 over Bosa. I wanted Ramsey then and still in hindsight have him as the better choice.

In Brandon's 3 years as HC the Chargers never had an identity. Even when they would ask him who they were, he couldn't tell them. His response would be "we are working on it" or some bs form of that.
On the JC thing, you guys were all excited about it just like everyone else. He was the #1 FA DB by all accounts.

I wanted Ryan Ficken as well 🤦🏾‍♂️. This leadership doesn't know what the hell they are doing. Ficken has a disciplined group of guys.

One guy HC and GM historically doesnt work. Hire the Ravens Hortiz or the Niners Peters for GM and Harbaugh as HC. Sit John Spanos in the corner and do nothing and IF and when the Chargers win anything THEN and only then can John come out and talk like the KCs Clark Hunt does after they win. Til then, sit back, say nothing, do nothing and not be seen.

Sorry to troll here but I feel sorry for you Charger fans if you think that in a 63-21 beat down, that you came out winners? I can see you guys, trying to convince yourselves that this is the best thing that could have happened to you. I use to wonder how Charger fans could cope with such a historical inept franchise, decade after decade, and now I know: You play make believe. Also, show Antonio Pierce some respect! Interim head coach or not, he still gave you the worst thumping in franchise history!

The players basically took it on themselves to make sure Staley got fired. Now we’re looking at a top 5 pick and maybe Marvin Harrison or Brock Bowers. Raiders ain’t makin the playoffs dude lol. Aiden O Connell is still the QB lmfao. Bolts won big last night

I'm glad to see some of you looking back at Tom telesco's history here and realizing how poor he was... He got a pass for so long I don't understand why.. His free agents never an impact to this team . his drafts always shallow... Stars always hurt... What a waste of a decade.
