A journey in my heart.
While I was following you with my heart and tears when you were walking in the ancient city of Babylon, particularly in the remains of the palace of Saddam, my mind went very fast to the good old days of my youth, and the good old days of my beautiful country during the period of time from 1987 up to the years of destruction in 2003 and on. At that time I was young - 28- years old and I was working as a translator and guide for the journalists from all over the world who had used to visit Iraq at that time. Thousand times I had accompanied those journalists and TV, groups to tour this ancient city. At that time hundreds of trucks had been carrying the dirt to build a huge hill upon which, Saddam had given his orders to build a palace for himself on the top of that hill. I took so many journalists from all over the world to see or watch the process of building that palace, to be frank with you some of the journalists were saying that Saddam was destroying the history of Iraq by re-constructed the New Babylon, but the leadership of Iraq wanted to connect the name of Saddam with the historical events of Babylon. Anyway, whether it was true or false, Saddam wanted to immortalize his name whatever the price was. He has the power and the money so he could do whatever he wants. The poor Iraqi soldiers were giving their souls and blood in the front lines and this crazy president was thinking just to immortalize his name. The most important American journalist whom I accompanied to this city was “Milton Viorst”, a great journalist at that time. You can write his name on Google and you will see him there. He had written a very logical article about Iraq at that time. Anyway, I just want to thank you very much and thank all of your friends who came with you to Iraq and said nice words about my country. I know that in the deep down of your mind, you have something else about what you have seen, its, ok, as long as you came to his country and spent a lot of effort and other things, you deserve my respect and thanks from the bottom of my heart. I really enjoined all the details about your visit to this wounded land.

Would love to visit Iraq! I actually applied for a few jobs there 3 years ago but decided to go somewhere else -- for now, maybe I'll change my mind after your videos. :) Looking forward to more! (Found you through Janet.)
PS. Am curious to know what the issue was with your passport/visa, in case other US citizens like myself might have a similar problem on arrival.
It was just with my specific passport and having not enough space for the visa - nothing to do with being American. I had zero issues through the whole trip with my being American. Thanks so much for watching!
