Ah-rn! LOL You can always take the yinzer out of....yadda yadda yadda. Thanks for the share! Awesome video, Lou. Seeing your learning curve on two of the same kit will be interesting!
I want to start my kit so I've been watching you for tips, I've never built much before in assemblies, I build a lot of aircraft where you want all the seams filled and paint the model in one shot. Looking forward to part 2
Lou, I too am working on two Ktingas! I used the kit lighting leds. And am now using the Tena controls light kit! I scuffed up the clear Windows with fine grit sandpaper and it diffused the light just great!!
Nice start so far. I think the problem I have with the front windows not lighting up well is that the plastic is too thick for that scale. Using the photo-etch on your second build should help with that though.
U guys paint so good I don’t understand why you don’t make this ship look more like the one from Star Trek the Motion picture... you & everyone else always paints it in a way that looks nothing like what we’ve ever seen on TV or the movies
just got the masks for my build, one thing i wish was that the shapes were printed on the sticker sheets, i am having a hard time seeing some of the stickers with the yellow on yellow and less than perfect vision. that aside i see this will help me get a good paint job on this build!!!
Saw part two first. This production is awesome man. Cutting mask shape is the only hassle. If you had no pre-cuts, you did a lot of on the surface cutting. I am not sure of my opinion on dirtying up the job. How would a ship get grimed up in space? This is only in defence of your results in part two. Your ship looks great. I mean really nice. You are like some wicked nice seminar on how to a K-tinga. If you offer mask sets, I will buy. Thanks.
What complicates the painting of the model is that if you look at the movie -first, the ship is not military green -and second, three different miniatures were used -a small one for distance shots, a mid-sized one for ordinary shots, and one for close-ups that basically was just the "head" of the ship -all of them was painted in a different way. As an example -one version has the star pattern around the torpedo launcher but another version has no star pattern despite it's supposed to be the same ship.
I always say that you can never make a difinative version of any ship, so pick your favorite reference pic and build to that. You can drive yourself mad trying to account for every variation.
@@aztekdummy Just a little update about the color confusion about the K,tinga with something I just found out by accident -the original miniture were re-painted green to be used in a episode of DS9 because it was suposed to be another type of ship.
Lou, I want to buy your masks for this one (love your JJPrise one, thank you again). Do you have your own shop front I can order from or do I need to go to Cultman? Rather order direct. Thank you sir. You’re very much appreciated.
Ok a question for all you trekkies out there. Why was the model kit box labelled as Star Trek 111? The only K’T’inga class battle cruisers yes I said cruisers only appearance up to ST3 was In the motion picture.
Hey Lou Off topic question. I asked when the 1/1000 Enteprise-d azteks will be available but I never asked where I'd be able to buy them from? Also the K'tinga is coming along great.
Lou, I'm so glad that you are doing two versions of this kit. Can't wait to see what Tenna Controls gives you for the lighting! Where did you get that Fireball XL-5 T-shirt?
@@aztekdummy hi Lou was wating to see this video I think your right about tena controls that lightning set up would be a little better but I think if you would paint the inside of the model white the lights might be a little more effective because the black has a tendency to absorb light instead of reflect light all around inside the model love your choices in colores for the k'tinga once again another great build I will be getting your painting mask they are great
it could, but I prefer to only use it in places where the bulb is right up against the plastic. in the command head, you don't have to put the leds right up against the windows, so you get a little natural diffusing going on.
If you would pop into my facebook group Polar Lights 1:350th scale Klingon K'Tinga ONLY tips n tricks you would head off any problems with the windows... and the impulse grille and the impluse engine leds
been looking forward to this build as I have one of these kits and waiting for your masks before I start. What colour green did you use for the overall colour?
I am going to making for sale through the regular online stores . Cult, starship modeler, federation models. I'll put out an announcement when they're ready

nice looking build sir

Great video update THANKS Looking forward to your next update!
What a brisk pace! My head is spinning. Take a break once in a while, ey?
Nice realization about the "single strip" window mask-- works very well.

I'm hearing that the Paragraphix pe set is much better than the polar lights set, plus paragrafix has a shuttle bay set.
I got this kit. Just need the lighting kit to go with it. Can't find it. I hope to get 2 more K'Tinga's for the formation because why the hell not.

I really like this model but I wish they would also make a 350 scale of the TSO D7 to go with the TSO Enterprise
TOS
@@nascarnbroncosfans6055I meant TOS (the original series)
Excellent as always. BTW what glue did you use to attach the front window section to that clear piece that sits behind them?
probably MEK.

Lou, I like the light diffusing effect of the stuffed animal filler fiber. Would that work in the command pod too, to make the windows more uniform?

I LOL'd at the "Gordon" comment!
well so fare so good like it and see part two when you get vid dun and if did do be fore good MMXIX to you
Lou, what does the small print on the DAVE poster over your window read? It vexs me that I can't read it.
In a land where anybody can become president anybody just did
It looks to me as if this kit was specifically engineered to be lit. You can't do the model if you're not going to light it?
Oh sure you can. Just install the clear parts and leave them be
Hi Lou, How can i get the masking for the K'tinga
You can get them at culttvman's store
What is the difference between a D7 and a K'Tinga class ship?
Typically the battlecruiser seen in TOS is called the D-7. The one in TMP is The K'Tinga.
The hull detail. Think of the difference between the TV enterprise and the refit

Do you do most of your templates with the plotter or is it all freehand?
It starts freehand then gets cleaned up in the computer then sent to the plotter
