So honest opinion about Scottish structure? It needs revamped, and this is how I'd personally have it.
    16 - Premiership
    16 - Championship
18 - League one (moving 4 teams up from Highland/Lowland league)
18 League Two, basically a mega Highland and Lowland league.
Then go regional from there, keeping lowland and Highland league, but obviously restructuring teams in there and moving clubs up.
Then from there you'd have an east/southern/west regionals going to lowland league and midland/northern/Highland regionals going into Highland. Could reduce the tiring system down to 6/7 depending on how it all would work out
As for Dunfermline vs Falkirk rivalry, massive. I've no idea why, but its massive

Used to pass cambuslang and rutherglen daily to work. Never quite seen the grounds but the signage for them from the bus. I did go around to see the outside of them eventually. I enjoy watching these former junior sides progress in cups and league. I grew up in pollok and heard alot about them before i even knew much about football. So that is the team for me to cheer for to hopefully progress into the senior leagues.

The pyramid is a wonderful thing that was long overdue! It's a great time to be watching Scottish football as this is all going to take years to level itself out... think most would agree, especially in lowland league, a number of tier 6 teams are stronger than tier 5. I would like to see a little bit of a 1 or 2 season promotion/relegation fast track of sorts to get the stronger teams further up quicker... especially now the big West Coast sides have joined the ranks.
The other great thing about it has been the opening up/expansion of clubs to the Scottish Cup... and we are seeing quite a number more upsets these days as more of these ambitious and well run sides get a go at the traditional "big league teams"
Get yourself along to Broxburn Athletic... quirky wee ground that I think you'd like. And arguably Scotlands best match day pies!

Funny thing about the Rangers stickers you find. I'm a Fraserburgh fan, however I am based in Banff where Deveronvale play, and it reminded me, that I constantly see Dunfermline stickers dotted around the town, which is about as random as it gets!

22:50 have you ever heard the story as to why they only have three stands? I live in Falkirk and to my knowledge they actually wanted four, but because they are close to the "BP" a nearby powerplant or some sort of plant. In Bo'ness actually! The blast radius for if the plant was to explord JUST reaches where a fourth stand would be! Might wanna double check the facts but this is what I was told all my life and found a few others also saying it.

Glad to see the pyramid structure starting to expand. Last year i was wondering if the highland league would have feed leagues. I knew about the north caledonian league and the junior league up there. The midland league is a new one for those eastern teams but not so far up north. As for the lowland league feeders yeah it's getting a bit hectic but im sure it will make more sence as time goes on. I am not sure if they making another league with 7 going down in the west league if it will make an extra 9th tier with this.
I do hope to see the teams who win the highland and lowland to get promoted right away (with 2 from league going down.) but i think it's to due with SFA licence's for the lower league since members needs to obtain that to even play in those playoffs to enter these leagues. Although with how good the teams live cove rangers and kelty topping their current leagues aswell as edinborugh city who are doing and teams similar quality down there still i hope they hurry it up or expand championship, league 1 and 2 to 12 or something and let a good number of them in.

    • @mboothy
      @mboothy 2 года назад

Yes the WOSFL will have a 9th tier next season, it'll be Premier - First - Second with 16 teams in each, and a Third Division with an unknown format. As for SFA licences, all teams in the Highland and Lowland already have a licence so that is not stopping them from getting promoted into League Two.

This was a very good watch FA. I've watched football being played on just a field before as low as the Kent County League and then all the way up to the Premier League and I think the same as you those teams who are right down the pyramid are just as important as those teams at the top. Also because football is football at the end of the day and I'm not bothered which division a team is in as long as the footy is good. I support a team in the Southern Counties East Premier Division (SCEFL).

In terms of the unbalanced structure in the West of Scotland League (and to a lesser extent the East), this is a transitional season due to both the changeover from the juniors & Covid messing things up. The West of Scotland League will go from a Premier, 3 Conferences & Division 4 to 16-team Premier, First and Second divisions with the rest in the Third division at a new tier 9 (possibly in 2 conferences or regional divisions as there will probably be too many teams for 1 single division). The old West Juniors Premier had 16 teams, but they've expanded to 20 as they wanted to promote teams in the abandoned Covid season without relegating, plus Bonnyton Thistle made the switch from the South of Scotland League. Geographically they were a West team, but as they wanted to be in the pyramid, they had to join the South due to the lack of a West league. When joining the West, they were allowed to join the Premier as they were already a tier 6 team so it wouldn't be fair to make them start at the bottom, bringing the Premier for this season to 20 but with the aim to go back to 16 again. That also explains why 7 teams are getting relegated from the Premier.
The East is fairly similar, although they were an established league in the pyramid before the juniors entered and the main junior exodus to the East was before West teams made the switch. Their Premier division of 18 teams is also going down to 16, with a First and Second division below and then all other teams in the Third division. There are slightly fewer teams in the East, so they will probably be able to just have one tier 9 division (for now at least as new clubs keep joining).
I agree with your points on more promotion/relegation though, especially between tiers 4 & 5 and then 5 & 6. But as the pyramid here is really still in it's infancy, I'm hopeful more changes will follow in the near future. Just like England took time to get to a clear structure, it will take time here too (and in England it's still evolving, I suppose you can't ever fully finish it as situations change!). I love non-league in Scotland and watch games all over the pyramid and country, but mainly lower tiers, hence why I know a fair bit about the structure. It's definitely better now all teams that were in the juniors are in the pyramid and quite a few amateurs made the step in the last few years too which I can see continuing. Sometimes I wish change would be faster, but change is there now and it's going in the right direction. Thanks for highlighting not just the top, but also the lower tiers of Scottish football.

The Taylor report and the regulations that the SPL put in place meant Falkirk had to move from Brockville after they were denied promotion to the SPL due to not having a 10,000 all seater ground(No longer a requirement today).
In terms of the Lowland League letting in the b teams of Rangers and Celtic into the league as if one of them win the league then there will be no representive from Lowland League in promotion playoff
