While i obviously dont think Xion's story was literally intended to be a trans allegory, it is within the context of the game a story about identity and tragedy, ..and so inevitably there will be a lot of parallels to queer experiences. Xion from the start of the game is created as a puppet, something designed to replicate Roxas' abilities as a failsafe, but as they begin to draw from Roxas they also begin to take on a form and personality derived from Roxas' supressed memories of Sora and Kairi. Conciously or not Xion the puppet becomes Xion a nobody, and develops a will and even heart of their own, which members like Saix constantly undermine by refering to her as "it," or objectifying her as merely a puppet; not human, or nobody in this case, despite nobodies being a vessel with soul and memory. Even in the manner they see her changes depending on whether its Saix or Xigbar, like they refuse to see her for who she is the way Roxas and Axcel do. By the end of Days, Xion comes to accept who she is, having lived as Xion, but also carrying an integral piece of both Roxas and Sora who's power she decides to return, though it doesn't happen in the way she wanted, and she laments having to say goodbye due to circumstances far outside her control. Its honestly is super tragic. In KH3 she obviously comes back and gets her happy ending, presumably for all intent and purposes is effectively a person and recognized as such. What specifically we're supposed to take away from her story im honestly 100% sure, ..i feel like it is at its core it is a story about circumstance, forging an identity, making connections, and embracing what you are; where she came from, and who she is now. Its more compelling than I think some let on. Obviously Days has its problems, and Xion's inclusion gets some hate, but I think it was worth it if it managed to help anyone forge a path on their own journey.
I mean, objectively speaking, if someone who identifies herself as a girl is literally perceived/looks like a boy to EVERYONE (be it cuz magical reasons or not) that will make a mess of her psyche... Damn poor Xion. I'm glad she can finally be herself
Damn, comments are so dumb, they couldn't be assed to actually watch the full 2 and a half minute video. The narration clearly states this is just a personal interpretive lens to view the story through, and obviously not a claim that a trans allegory was intended by Nomura. Personally, I think Xion can resonate a LOT with the LGBT community in various ways, and I love that you pointed out the line, "I hate you for taking away my friend," since I had never noticed how close that is to something trans people regularly hear after coming out.
I feel like what you’re saying about art being more than just what the author intends is very important. Even though I might not agree with what you got out of xion I still support your viewpoint and am glad you are able to connect with her on such a level. Keep up the amazing work with your vids!
I really like this video a lot. I never thought about Xion being trans before but watching this open my eyes to the idea. This is my new favorite head canon , especially as a fellow trans person myself. Plus it’s a head canon that makes a lot of sense in my opinion
As an autistic genderfluid person, Xion's story absolutely resonated with me while going through the Kingdom Hearts games recently. Her lack of expression during her first time hanging out wih Roxas, how she slowly became more expressive and comfortable, being pushed away for her identity and "what she is supposed to be" according to the others. This video definitely got me thinking about more aspects of the trans allegory of Xion. I hope that one day, I get to wear femenine clothes just like she did in her happy ending.
Xion is called an 'it' because she is a 'nobody' all the 'nobodies' are 'it' for not having a 'heart' like a shell from the 'heartless' who have really strong 'heart'
I have nothing against trans people, but it’s confirmed that she is a girl, why won’t people just accept that she’s a girl.(and I genuinely want someone’s explanation on why you think Xion is trans cuz I was too lazy to watch the full video)
the jungian influence on the characters makes this reading nigh impossible to ignore.but i also have to add in everything that applies to sora and roxas also applies to her. shes that lilttle bit of sora that admires Kairis brand of strength. as where roxas is his admiration of rikkus strength. sora would not be whole without these elements which prolly suggests somewhat that sora is some form of gender nuetral; he prefers to help everyone and see the good in all of them. this tracks with our ice cream trio
@@chesterbe76 Imagine not being able to relate to anyone if they don't have the one rare personality aspect you're obsessed with, thus having to convert any fictional character to fit your needs.
Xion is an extremely trans-coded. Like, this might be the most trans a character written by a cis person has been without outright textually being trans
Just play the game without connecting it to random BS that has nothing to do with the actual story. Head-canon drivel or not, after people somehow lied to themselves about Kanji being gay and Naoto being trans from Persona 4 I don't like any half-hearted misinterpretations of characters by fans (P4 itself tells you this shit isn't the case, but the people that spout it probably never played the game). This is just laying out the roadwork for people to swear up and down Xion is a trans icon later on. Shit is annoying, you can relate to Xion and her struggles without her being trans.
@@CassiusStelar Right? It is crazy that people can have so little imagination that they can't relate with something that isn't exactly like them. Xion is so, so incredibly important to me. Her narrative rang true with me back when I was her age when her game released and was also closeted. She deserves the world and I really hope that we get to see her and the other Seasalts get to bask in their happy ending in the future; finally free of the Organization cult and able to truly be themselves.

I’m so sorry that people are being jerks in the comments :( Great video! I love it when KH accidentally does LGBT stuff.
But isn’t she a puppet? I mean, her situation is definitely not like a real human lol.
did you listen to the video at all
