- Here is a list of the top 10 fastest cars in Gran Turismo 4.Maybe there are some mistakes, but I think this list is ok.

Minion_ Bazz you have to do experiments with multiple cars in the tuning menus in different games.. after sometime you will get used to it

The only bad thing about the Formula GT is that you can't change the tyre type to Super Hard tyres so basically it'll be useless on endurance races

I managed to get 488km/h with Toyota Minolta with biggest turbo and NOS, about 1200hp and tuned transmission

I remember the absolute slowest car in the game with a top speed of 10 mph was the 1889 Motor Carriage, took me 5 mins to get down the LV drag strip
Can't remember if it was GT 3 or 4 but in one of them you could tune the gearbox of a Dodge Viper to get speeds of 400+ km/h while still maintaining acceleration, that is using upgrades you could get in story mode. I think the fastest I got it was about 420km/h on the test ring. I was like 10 at the time so is hard to remember now.
I'm glad that you choose the escudo that was my favorite car in gt2 and ive been tryin to get the handlin right in gt4 , oh well guess ill just have to try in gt5

Instad of thr R92 nissan take the BMW V12 it has lower hp but reach 370kmh i my opinion its the fastet (without the formula probably)

dude, escudo is far from being the fastest, it's the fastest in Granturismo 2 but not in 4, the other cars are way faster. i know it cause i remember the first time i went in a race with escudo against these other beasts i had no chance. but it changed when i got the Minolta.
whatever dude I won gt world championship with my Suzuki and got to 362 mph with it.
plus I play gt4 NOT gt2
The escudo has the fastest ACCELERATION, but the top speed is somewhere in 207
Adjust the gear ratios and it goes waaay faster ;)

Back when the lists of the fastest cars in Gran Turismo weren't filled with VGTs..
yeah... that minolta was mental. i remember with nitrous i hit like 280 on the old mulsanne with it, oculd hardly keep it on the track.
@fdespotovski One Lap Time Trials (S License) require the utmost concentration to beat. Driving Missions all of them (with the exception of the third Slipstream Challenge) can all be done by just maintaining calm.
For speed: Nissan r92 @355 MPH. Look up the speed tuning for it online. For acceleration: the Escudo dirt trial car without a doubt. Mine runs 7.4 quarter mile with r5 tires and a adjusted tranny. 1+ second advantage on any car I've had (all of them) and for cornering the polyphony formula can take turns on sarthe ii at 200 MPH. If you can't get the formula try the Minolta or the 787b. They both rip.
Here from the future to tell you the Tommy Kaira ZZII is the best top speed car in the game. People have hit 386 MPH on the speed test

I personally loved to use the mercedes clk gtr in every race as it could beat anything I raced against
the Bentley race car is by far the best,its handling and composure under heavy braking is just incredible.
the fastest car in this game is the tuscan speed 12. Trust me. kit it out to the max and lower the down force, you always want to lower the down force when you are doing top speed tests or are on a track with min. turns and mostly straights. You have to adjust your nitrous and time it right so that you are in the little tunnel in the last 50 or so feet maxing out and finishing your nitro. Faster than anything else period.
This list, (if I don't get any of these cars) will never keep me away from my Pagani Zonda S 7.3
Yeah. The Pagani Zonda C12S 7.3 can get way ahead of these cars in Like the Wind when its HP is at its max and auto transmission is set to 25
in GT4 suzuki was really fast but somehow a little hard to controle it's damn fast , but in GT2 oh god it was so badass!

I changed my mind Id say you might need to finish the Nurburgring 24 hour race to unlock the Formula 1 race car. Its fast and good handling Im sure it can help.

i have in gt4 the 99 year nissan skyline its have over 800 bhp and holy shit its fast and the escudo have best accelaration

Minolta toyota, I used to drive others like the suzuki scudo but it was very difficult to drive. And the 787B, amazing car too :)

In terms of being the fastest on the various tracks, I think the Pescarolo is the fastest. I tested it on a lot of tracks versus those other cars and it always came out on top.
Both Minolta and Sauber are faster on straights and handle better I think

@WarpPal The Gillet Vertigo isn't in the same class as Group C/LMP cars. I don't understand what you mean by "690 is enough for that weight". The Escudo is a rally car speficically designed to participate in the Pikes Peak Hill Climb (it's AWD) so it can be excluded. The R390 weights 100kg more then the opposition (1000kg). The CLK GTR is ok. I'm preety sure the Mazda wouldn't sit there, as I made extensive testing.The Mazda is a rotor car, and it was known not for it's speed, but reliability.

@VrOOm1337 Its hard because you are not controlling your throttle. the PS2 controller is pressure sensitive, in that sense you dont floor it through the corners, you floor it out of them. Try applying light throttle through the corners, once you at a decent speed braking at high speed, THEN floor it. focus on how quickly you can get through those corners, get in, get out, dont leave an interlude of confusion with the throttle or going wide in the turns, form racing line with the apex.

and also, if you drive the Vertigo in arcade mode and set the power at +20% and weight -20% and race in Sarthe II, it can go up to 285 mph when you're behind another car
@VrOOm1337 I agree with you on the Minolta, it has about 950 HP right? Im still shaky on the R89C vs R92CP thing, but I will get an opinion from them, and see for myself since I have the PSP version built on the same engine.
Several comments for this video:
* That Toyota Minolta 88C-V will last you for a long time for many races. An indispensable car.
* That Bentley Speed 8 maybe a legend, but isn't worth the total effort needed to obtain it.
* The Pescarolos are very sturdy cars, and are worth the price.
* Audi R8 is nice, but has heavy deceleration at peak speed.
* The Suzuki Escudo was cheap in the 2nd game, but not as much here.
* I declare the Nissan R92CP to be the most worthy car to get.
Back in the previous GTs it was a straight line killer. But from GT4 and so on it was nerfed. It's the only acceleration king or the ultra vtec car of Gran Turismo just look at it's power curve, it's slow at low rpms but once it reaches certain rpm it kicks in.
So many people are wrong about the escudo. It's not the fastest car in the game its top speed is around 220-230 it's the QUICKEST car in the game meaning acceleration wise it's fast but not the fastest.
People please!!! one of my personal best cars is Gillet Vertigo Race Car, this car should be on the list, try it out if want.

@fdespotovski We have to look into account some things here: In Licenses, we have 3 times to beat: Gold, Silver, and Bronze, while in the Driving Missions you have to finish first to complete the challenge. It's kind of different. Some Licenses and some Driving Missions are harder then others. I think, that in the Driving Missions there is some room for comfort. Thinking about the time remaining is what gets most people to lose. In the Licenses, however, Gold means you have to edge perfection.
@aveoxus That's it, the in-game name was correct, but the car could race in all surfaces, tarmac, dirt....
@despotovski01 no you can just downlaod the code breaker put it on a USB stick and enable codes once its hooked up too the Ps2

The Suzuki Escudo was badass in GT4. Now it's shitty in GT5 with a top speed of 195 MPH. How sad to see a great legend fall... :(
All of those are fast cars especially of course when you sup them up..But it all comes down to handling, it all depends on the person the feel of the vehicle..The Jaguar for me is one of the best, real good acceleration , breaking is ok..but I am used to it, so I could smoke people with it, because I'm used to the feel, it works for me.
you know that fully tuned the fastest car is the sauber merc, 2nd is the toyota GT-one and 3rd is the suzuki scudo. and the biggest mistake is putting the scudo in first place because when not tuned it won't overtake a sauber merc or the toyota GT1 with them not tune as well... and I just realized that this comment is a bit of a mess... sorry......
i think, the number 10 goes to the Cerbera Speed 12.
@WarpPal You almost got it right, but the R92CP is overrated. The 5 fastest Le Mans cars in the game are (by order and in terms of the times they have done on the 400 meter test) the Minolta, the R89C, BMW V12 LMR, Sauber Mercedes and Audi R8 (I don't remember if the Jag could fit there since it's also a naturally aspirated V12 and I did this test a long time ago).
Anybody notice how all the cars are race cars? All but one have probably been used in Le Mans at least once.
@WarpPal Nope. It's all on the gears. If you do the corner in 2nd gear, the engine will be at high rpm and the torque will kick in, and your wheels WILL spin, no matter if you've done the corner correctly or not. You need to do the corner in 3rd so that you go through it at a lower rpm. LIke I said, I play GT4 since 2006, I know very much what I am talking about. I Golded ALL LIcense Tests and ALL Driving MIssions, ALL Rally Races, so on, even the Speedster Race.
@VrOOm1337 Some missions are harder, some are easier, not all. The PSP version actually has challenges that were directly inspired from the challenges from Gran Turismo 4 AND some previous ones too, just with mush more precise physics, and are thus much harder than any region specific GT4 since it was built off of Gran Turismo 5's engine, the only difference is its not mandatory. Those challenges will make Gran Turismo 4's seem very easy trust me I know first hand.

i tuned my volkswagen w16 to go 286 mph and my audi r8 to go 299 mph. I'm not sure if this list was on the cars being stock or not...but those were my two fastest
it depends of what you mean by fastest ? is it top speed, it is lap time ? on a straight line some regular cars may be faster than race car but what about time on track...
the Suzuki escudo does not have the highest top speed, but with the racing super soft tires and turbo it is definately the fastest accelerating. look it up on here and watch the power of the real thing.
@palicoo93 Oh yea i should. I just haven't played GT4 much anymore cos of the boredom. Ruined the setup of minolta, and it was 470 when i last time tried with old setup lol. Sold gillet cos didn't need it on any races. Zonda (it is btw fully tuned) went 410-420 without nitrous oxide on the highest automatic gearing setup thing there was still the manual way to use but that'd taken million hours to make work. Probably gonna try get nissan R92CP, owns minolta and all others with the handling etc.
When I tested my MINOLTA Toyota 88C-V Racing Car, the top-speed was 376.94 km/h. When I tested my Jag XJR9, the top speed was 369.56 km/h. Your wrong?
Mostly i change the setup of gearing and nitrous duration. Also many times i do some stuff to aerodynamics and suspension. Sometimes some cars are just great to tune, like the zonda was. It was like 500hp at stock and after tuning it was nearly 1000hp.
That escudo is very fast, I just got it yesterday
they forgot the Gillet tweaked out has 1102bhp use
ARM or gameshark to get infinite money and a fun thing to do is max turbo top speed 1987635mph the game glitches out after that or flys in mid air and hits something

I would suggest the Playstation Pescarolo or the Polyphony F1 car because the F1 has good Speed, Acceleration and handling
Yup. The Viegert Vector V12 kicked ass! It had only 3 or 4 gears and huge gear ratio.

@ceracecar agreed. plus getting the escudo is really difficult for me to do and it isn't as great as it was in GT2.
@WarpPal Are you ignoring what I am saying? I never said the Toyota 7 is better then the 787B speed-wise. The 787B does not belong on the list. I was talking about 400 meter tests first then you came talking about handling. The Toyota 7 is good in the right hands, extremely good. The tire wear is minimal, and will beat any car on any race that needs pit stops. Sure the 787B has good handling, but so do all the other LMP/Group C cars. Though the GT-ONE does stand out. And what about the V12's?
