I just want to say I appreciate all of the hard work you put into these build videos. Grim Dawn is my favorite ARPG and I am glad that someone is still paying attention to it. Thank you!

This patch is an overall W for me.

My strongest character, of many, is a Soldier / shaman reflection build. Dubbed him 'Dreadnaughty'. With 43.000 hitpoints and a record damage inflicted of 400.000 :-). Not sure how it changed in 1.2, guess we will find out lol. But haven't even seen his hp bar move down in ages lol I really likemthis game hehe
As someone with over 1000 hours in GD I still learned from this video quite important thing, that you shouldn't go above 100% of sum of all weapon procs. Now I know why in some builds people don't put even 1 point into certain procs. Also I always assumed that kymon's chosen would kick out a necromacner on later difficulties, but it's nice know that you actually can still join them with that mastery.
Hi great condensed video, I have one queston though, with your primal strike build how do you perform your leap followed by kind of an aoe attack at 3:51 ?
It's a skill from a rune augment. You can put rune augments onto your medal to gain new movement abilities. The three factions in the Forgotten Gods expansion offer the most basic rune augments and you can find blueprints for higher level rune augments later from quests, totems, bosses or the shattered realm. Those allow you to craft more powerful rune augments which grant you more powerful movement abilities.
@@rektbyprotoss thanks a lot ! Also if I may, I saw your oppressor rutnick build and I was wondering if the ritualist class was viable for this kind of build ?
Nice video. Just curious, though. Why Blitz Warlord > Forcewave Warlord? It seems a lot easier and tankier playing a FW warlord, especially in 1.2 with regen buffs. I just leveled both up and blitz was such a chore in comparison. I'm not saying blitz is bad, but you have to farm more MI's, have multiple other skills that do laughable dmg in-between blitz CD, all while having less aoe, and feeling a bit squishier, being right on top of the mobs.
While pet conjurer is great early on and later 2 briarthorns or 2 birds is also great I would suggest looking into forums for Poulpatine acid pet conjurer. At first when I build it I was sceptical but then it turned out to be my favorite and strongest build. I use the greenless version and changed the weapon to mythical black scourge and helmet to mythical beastcaller helmet. It was a bit weakened in the new patch but it is still strong and now it has more hp regen.
Great video, I always hit walls in act two while leveling when the limitations of the self made builds are evident so will try a few of these out. Thank you so much!
are you explaining multiple builds at the same time in the video? i cant undestand what classes u had selected for said build as you have and explain more than 2 options at the same time like in 2:10
Still the go-to GD content creator for guides/builds, thank you for the work you put into this. My question would be if there is a build out of the mentioned ones which can later be turned into a full legendary, no green or blue item build? Love legendaries and sets too much in this game.
Yes plenty of these builds can be run as full purple setups for endgame, the Vitality Caster, Primal Strike Elementalist/Warder, the Pet Conjurer and many more. Full purple is usually a bit worse than a nice mix of purple+green though.
in the fire bomberman, why not use olexra's flash freeze for the -100% fire resistance? I am aware the freeze portion of this skill doesnt apply to some bosses, but I was assuming the fire resistance reduction portion still applied for 4.5 seconds
Play lightning warder like the primal strike druid/elementalist mentioned in this video or play physical forcewave. Endgame Ultos set (lightning) and Avenger set (physical) are both great.
hitpoints, hitpoints hitpoints. for a reflection warden It's my personal strongest character. you can end up with 43.000 hp with enchanting your gear with anything adding health (and resistances!!), with such a big regeneration, your hp hardly moves. For equipment, above mentioned gear plus anything adding hp, reflection, resistance. Skills and abilities, taunting, heals, hp, and damage reduction / slowing. You will Not do much direct damage, the mobs will do that for you ;) my current record is 400.000 lol. Lots of fun lol
You'll need to join the Order of Death's Vigil because the MI helm you use drops from the Kymon's Chosen boss inside of Fort Haron. If you side with Kymon's Chosen then you won't be able to farm the helm because Fort Haron would have an OotDV hero instead.
I did whirlwind + primal strike Archon. It's a meat grinder. Although, I have a feeling that they ramped up the difficulty of treacherous domains as now it is slightly more challenging to remain deathless.
Treacherous domains have new mutators now, which can in certain situations be slightly more impactful, yes. It's overall not that big of a deal though imo.
As a new player to the game, your guides and explanations are absolutely incredible. I've tried picking this game up multiple times and just couldn't get into it, but watching your content has really opened my mind to some of the intricacies and mechanics that I didn't know existed. My only question, is Panetti's a viable build for Hardcore right now? I've tried doing some research watching previous videos/speedruns on your channel and it seems like the skill is a bit of a meme in the community, combined with my lack of general knowledge on the game itself. I just really love how the skill works mechanically and would love to play it in a way that feels good but can still survive on HC. Thanks again for all the hard work on these videos, they take a lot of time to make on their own, but just the fact of sharing your extensive knowledge and experience is really priceless.
Panetti is, in the grand scheme of things, still rather on the meme side of skills. That said, you can get from level 1 to endgame with panettis, too, but it'll be a below average experience performance wise. It does look awesome though.
Thanks for the video. I am new to the game but is there a written leveling guide for the lighting primal strike druid? I only find videos and GT links where i do not know how to distribute mainstat points, devotions and skillpoints while leveling
That DW Spellbreaker is pretty much my favourite build in the game. I think it's one of the best renditions of a melee-rogue style fighter in any game. So much fun. Watching this really makes me want to play GD again (I haven't played in a couple of years).
@@gabrielmnt4119 It's the last build in the video. Can be played as reaper (nightblade/necro) or spellbreaker (nightblade/arcanist). Rekt has a guide for the spellbreaker here ruclips.net/video/W3jXFXqOWdU/видео.htmlsi=4EUfQhx_VH8TS1gT (it's a couple of years old, so things might have changed a bit, but probably mostly still valid). The builds in the first half of this video are stronger (certainly more tanky), but I really like the dual-wield play style. Hope you enjoy Grim Dawn. It's a got a ton of viable builds, so there is something for everyone.
As someone who bought this game 2 hours ago I'm complete overwhelmed with all this info lol. I played this game on release on Xbox and everything changed a looooooot
Thanks for your videos. Kind of wondering is a Shaman / Inquisitor build works better than ranged druid? There's some ranged synergies between Shaman 2h and Inquisitor ranged, but it may be too "squishy". Or maybe the elemental damages don't synergize well?
Shaman / Inquisitor is better if you wanna go for ranged Savagery + Weapon Pool Skills (chilling rounds, storm spread, etc.), but that's generally a little slower to get going and a bit more complicated to build compared to a Primal Strike build, which is why I rather suggest a Primal Strike Druid for a beginner.
Can you suggest build for cooping with dual-pistol purifier? We recently started playing with friend and I want to play something with nice synergy, but I don't have enough experience with the game to figure it out right away
If the other person is using a dual pistol Purifier then a good choice to compliment them is the tanky blitz Warlord. You draw the enemies to you in front while your friend does DPS from behind and casts Inquisitor Seal under you to help out your defenses. Also, your Guardians of Empyrion will reduce the enemies' elemental resistance which will aid your friend's damage.
I saw your guide on vitality casters and I'm trying to understand what changed. You said to invest more in spirit, I remember we always default in physic before. Why the change?
Defensive ability is generally considered to be of lower value nowadays than it was 2-3 years ago. Spirit boosts your damage, which on vitality builds also boosts your sustain since they are leech based.
Keen to give the vitality caster build a go but I feel like I'd need to see all the debuffs. Where can I find the Grim Internals mod for patch 1.2? Can't seem to find the newer version anywhere.
Thanks for the video. Will definitely try some of these builds. Is there any item database one can check where certain items drop, from what mobs or which npc?
I'm a Drain life Necro player, with the items I can Siphon 16-19 monsters at the same time. So satisfying, I've never seen a better Drain skill in any games (if people knows, let me know I would love to try them!!) My Spellbinder is lvl 94-96 IIRC I'm also a Doom Bolt Lover; wish I could use it once per second.. - Do you happen to have any Builds with Drain Essence that can do the endgame like those mentioned here? I am ready to spend my money for the expansion, just got my hands on the last Loyalty Packs! Good job here by the way.
as a fresh beginning character, what is the difficulty progression like? since the changes to unlocking elite/ultimate and quest rewards (skillpoints/attribute), is it better to play fully through normal + dlc´s and do the same for elite then ultimate or do i go straight into ultimate after normal? playing as a pet conjurer
I was going to play for the first time in a while. I think I either want to primal strike or blitz. I just want to be a super tanky unba bunga go in smash one button brainless type of character. Do both work or would one be suited better for this than the other?
Hey there, love your content! I really liked the looks of your shieldbreaker skater and decided to build one myself. Ive got 3 of the Zarthuzellans books and 1 of the skybreaker helmets, weirdly non of them have the -0,5s cooldown reduction... Did i just get really unlucky or is there something im forgetting/misunderstanding?
Just a random drive by comment, but there are two kinds of Zarthuzellan books, the Archive and the Codex. He can drop either, but only the Archive has the cooldown reduction.
The cold Spellbreaker build in this video is not the same as the link that you have that points to a 2 year old video. Do you have an updated Spellbreaker beginner build for 1.2?
Hi! I have a question. Is the 2h pierce tactician good with dw pistols instead of a 2h? I'm planning to change the kraken devotion (not using 2h) and put that points in the Unknown soldier and the Lion devotions.
The only good piercing gun that I'm aware of is Oathbearer. If you play around two of those guns, sure. Otherwise I can't recommend going dw pistols instead of 2h. Havoc pistols are also great, but they are for a physical build.
@@rektbyprotoss Thanks for the reply. However, after thinking a lot, and since i want to play an inquisitor, instead of Tactician i decided to go for the Auradin, following your guide to make the levelling a little bit easier, I played this game two times, one with a blitz warlord and the other with a primal strike driud.
Thank you for the informative and interesting videos about Grim Dawn, which are always a pleasure to watch and which are very helpful for both beginners and veterans of the game.
Many variants are viable, Demo 2nd or occultist 2nd are probably smoothest to play right now. I leveled this one: ruclips.net/p/PL-7HuL5PyGEJlr0WA7Ck__Xg6l0ah1z9J&si=m1MQL7TZNKWN_trI
Hey there, I don't know if it's just me but did they nerf the life leech mechanics somehow? I find it substantially more difficult to build around life leech after the recent patch hit. Keep it up!
Thanks for the builds, currently starting up the blitz warlord! Any clue when the individual guide will be ready? No rush of course, I'm just pretty new so it'll be a greatly appreciated resource
Hy man, what's up ? I know this is an old video. I think about to make an ssf-hc cold/pierce infiltrator. I saw that you suggest spellbreaker or reaper. What about cold infiltrator ? Is it viable for HC ? In your other video "how to lvl a nightblade" you suggest for cold build arcanist or inquisitor (and not necromancer). It's beacause of the recent patches ? Thanks for advance and have a nice day.
@@rektbyprotoss thanks so much. For the moment my char is at lvl30, and only nightblade. I don't know if I go with arcanist/Necro/inquisitor. I had a pierce infiltrator, but RIP. Maybe it's Time to start with a cold one
How good is primal strike right now? I ask because i checked out a forum post from October 4 of this year and everyone was talking about primal strike being in a bad place and how its damage and survivability is kinda bad. Ive never played a primal strike build and ive always wanted to, and i had planned on playing one now that 1.2 is out. I just don't want to play it if it turnes out to be sub optimal.
It is not by any means a bad starting and lategame character. It is “sub-optimal” in comparison to top ~20 best/meta builds, you can definitely clear everything in the game with optimised primal strike character. Dont get discouraged to play what you like, especially as your first few characters.
I have been playing with vitality and life leech reaper and it was really good. Already reached lvl 100 now and want to start new character Do you have any suggestion which role that I should take? I don't want to play with vitality and life leech again and want to choose Kyomon faction now.
hey. Thank you for the videos!!! fast q about Shieldbreaker build/ why you put points in flashbang? when there are only 2 points in resilience which gives 5% max res and 12% phys res.
This might be a stupid question, but I just got the DLCs and I'm dead-set on making a Warlord at some point. But first I gotta clear the DLC campaigns for the first time on my forcewave spammer. Remember me? I like swords and boards! Is it just that Blitz does more damage than Vire's Might for that specific build?
Blitz gets insane amount of damage from the green items mentioned in this video. Vire's Might is not even close, at least not on a s&b Warlord. You can also try to aim for this version by MadLee once you have the gear for it www.grimtools.com/calc/D2pXE6L2 It's a bit more focused on RF and has better consistent dps as a result, but also needs better gear.
@@rektbyprotoss Ahh, I see. Thank you very much! I don't know if or when I'll really get around to doing endgame stuff, but I still appreciate the advice.
Hey great video!, In your opinion which build has the highest potential in hardcore? I have lokarr gear etc ready to level a new char but im not sure what to play. Thanks !
Depends what content you want to tackle exactly. Ludrigan Druid is imo one of the best overall builds for hardcore right now. Avenger Warder is great if you simply want a melee facetanker.
About a year ago I was playing GD. I got an EoR spin to win build to l84 on elite and got bored farming for the weapon upgrades. I really want to get to l100 what build would you recommend that will get me to l100 with minimal side farming? Pref not pets but if that's what it takes. Also whats the best movement augment? Thank you.
How much worse are Bone Harvest or Vitality Primal Strike builds than the ones recommended here? Am I better off leveling with what you recommend or can I wing it with one of those skills without suffering too much?
is trozan druid bad for leveling my first character? I feel like it takes too long to kill some bosses and the character is kinda squishy although I took ghoul and lizard. I'm level 37 and my tss is 21
Great recommendations and builds. Some wicked theory crafters in this community. Hell cold DW reaper is my main. I took it from some video a loooong time ago. I think it's in need of some modernizing
Hello I love your show case of the builds. so i bought the game and wanted to play ´´Bleeding Blade Spirits Trickster´´ Any chance to making a guide for that in the nest couple of day's or just a little more to go after (-_-) thanks for awesome show case

@rektbyprotoss I have a lot of purples and most of the sets completed, I find it difficult to find a green piece with the ideal resistances and bonuses for example I trying to build a Devastation Sorcerer and the build I found needs 2 Gollus rings , I have killed it more than 20 times and don't have yet the traits I want
Unrelated noob question, any feedback is appreciated - Is fire strike prurifier still good in your opinion? I'm very new to the game and that's the build i chose to play solely on eastethics. However, it seems to have slown down a bit since the update, but I can't figure out why..
Ranged Purifier looks cool and appears to have great and straightforward synergy provided by the classes, which is why every new player ever will choose this class combination when they want to play a pistol build and I don't blame them. Now here's the catch that makes this build kind of a noob trap: Usually starter builds get tons of damage/synergy from green targetfarmable (guaranteed) Monster Infrequents, but there are very few for ranged purifier. There's a two handed elemental crossbow in gloomwald and cronley's gangs' fire helmet and that's kinda it, so if you're playing pistols you have basically nothing but random rng drops to choose from. On top of that, when it comes to tankyness purifier is a rather squishy class. Now I'm not saying it's impossible as I also made a beginner's playthrough with purifier, but it certainly feels below average compared to other starter builds. ruclips.net/video/GT44uN7me1s/видео.htmlsi=xiq43Vo5nWYjQ8VG
@@rektbyprotoss thank you very much for the reply. I've seen from your videos that running a shild in the off hand is a good choice and it has increased my survivability drastically, while not affecting my damage output too much. Would you say that combo is still prefered with the new patch being released?
Hello. I haven't played this game for a long time. I want to build a character on retalation damage. Is this a good idea now? I just love tenacious characters.
Hi there. Great video, I already liked and subbed. My question is: Which of the first 5 builds (as I understand from the other comments these are the most broken) would you recommend to a completely new player to the game? The goal is to progress the most, understand the game and participate in the end game. Thank you in advance and wish you all the best to you and the channel.
Noon question - if build shows calls from vanilla game I can play it right? Not got dlc yet, as I bounced back from this game like x2 times. However head new patch is amazing so want to give a try. Also how hard is respec, can you respec your ascendecy? (like soldier or necro)
You can't respec your classes and even though you can ofc play the builds containing vanilla only classes, you might be missing devotions and items for those builds. The expansions add just so much overall value.
Hi Rekt and folks! Which of these builds is the easiest to play using a controller (specifically a Steam Deck)? I'm guessing it's #7, conjurer, but please let me know if I'm wrong or if any of the others are good too. Thank you!
I have a lvl 80 lightning primal strike character that I’ve played on controller with my feet the whole way through….yes i said my feet and I’m not kidding 😂
That one is unfortunately a random drop set, but the build is strong enough without it for most endgame content. Best way to farm random drops is doing totems or, if you feel like doing the grind, farming Shattered Realm Shard 65-66 and higher.

like in 2:10
So how does Evoker 2H Ranged Vindicator compare to Ranged 2H Primal Strike Druid in Patch 1.2? Does someone tried it both?
Nice line up. Great explanations.
My video to go for next 5 characters or so :) Thanks for you contribution to grim dawn community maaaan, you're awesome!
in the fire bomberman, why not use olexra's flash freeze for the -100% fire resistance? I am aware the freeze portion of this skill doesnt apply to some bosses, but I was assuming the fire resistance reduction portion still applied for 4.5 seconds
The resistance reduction only works while the enemy is frozen. If you can't freeze the enemy, it does nothing.
@@rektbyprotoss got it thank you!
are there any advices for Warder?
Play lightning warder like the primal strike druid/elementalist mentioned in this video or play physical forcewave. Endgame Ultos set (lightning) and Avenger set (physical) are both great.
hitpoints, hitpoints hitpoints. for a reflection warden
It's my personal strongest character. you can end up with 43.000 hp with enchanting your gear with anything adding health (and resistances!!), with such a big regeneration, your hp hardly moves.
For the Vires Might build you mentioned that you get your build defining items from Order of the Deaths Vigil, which are those items?
@@rektbyprotoss tbh I was quietly hoping that they'd make domains harder, so it's cool :D
I'm really new to this game, so which one is this build exactly, is it in this video? Thx!
@@gabrielmnt4119its the top ten reaper/spellbreaker is pretty much the same
@@gabrielmnt4119 It's the last build in the video.
@@Toxophilix thanks a lot! :)
I’ve heard that ravenous earth oppressor is bed now but it’s the vitality build I’m most interested in ngl. Idk what the end goal set for it is tho.
@@rektbyprotoss Thanks!
What build is that on the video at 0:37 seconds? that you are spinning around? how good is it for a beginner?

@@rektbyprotoss Thank you, you chad!
Just coming back into Grim Dawn. Great video, subbed!
Had to watch this after that outrageous video for beginners with 90j view😂
I must say you did not disappoint, subbed!
I'm a Drain life Necro player, with the items I can Siphon 16-19 monsters at the same time. So satisfying, I've never seen a better Drain skill in any games (if people knows, let me know I would love to try them!!)
My Spellbinder is lvl 94-96 IIRC
I'm also a Doom Bolt Lover; wish I could use it once per second..
If you're not playing hardcore you may as well try ultimate and see for yourself
i`m struggling between druid and elementalist for primal strike :3 any recommendations?^^

Fantastic video! I'm leveling a Blitz Warlord right now, any ETA on a guide video?
Soon TM
I was going to play for the first time in a while. I think I either want to primal strike or blitz. I just want to be a super tanky unba bunga go in smash one button brainless type of character. Do both work or would one be suited better for this than the other?
Both kinda work for this.
I'm following your reaper build and I'm loving it!
thank you for making this long after game release.
now to survive inventory management.
not every hat is worth saving ;^)
The cold Spellbreaker build in this video is not the same as the link that you have that points to a 2 year old video. Do you have an updated Spellbreaker beginner build for 1.2?
Great time for a great guide. Thank you!
Thank you for the informative and interesting videos about Grim Dawn, which are always a pleasure to watch and which are very helpful for both beginners and veterans of the game.
thanks for video, hope you always good health, now back to my boy DW cold reaper again
Thanks for the video. What do you think about Warlock with chaos Aether Ray in Black Flame set ?
Pretty good for endgame once you have the gear.
Thank you for this video. Im sad to see no spin to win build.
Which subclass would you recommend for outhkeeper, eye of the reckoning?
Many variants are viable, Demo 2nd or occultist 2nd are probably smoothest to play right now. I leveled this one: ruclips.net/p/PL-7HuL5PyGEJlr0WA7Ck__Xg6l0ah1z9J&si=m1MQL7TZNKWN_trI
Hey there, I don't know if it's just me but did they nerf the life leech mechanics somehow? I find it substantially more difficult to build around life leech after the recent patch hit. Keep it up!
Your observation is correct. Enemies have more leech resistance now on ultimate, so life leech is generally about 30% less effective now.
@@rektbyprotoss Ah right, thanks man!

For Blitz, why Totally Normal instead of the Bargoll Blitz mace?
Two of my favourite builds in the video yay. All time favourite being the 2h morgoneth reaper
Did the skater or the warlord got better, do I need to change anything on those builds?
Thanks for the builds, currently starting up the blitz warlord! Any clue when the individual guide will be ready? No rush of course, I'm just pretty new so it'll be a greatly appreciated resource
Hopefully during this patch :D
Dude i like yours videos.
What do you think about EoR builds?
Hy man, what's up ? I know this is an old video. I think about to make an ssf-hc cold/pierce infiltrator. I saw that you suggest spellbreaker or reaper. What about cold infiltrator ? Is it viable for HC ? In your other video "how to lvl a nightblade" you suggest for cold build arcanist or inquisitor (and not necromancer). It's beacause of the recent patches ? Thanks for advance and have a nice day.
Infiltrator is still perfectly fine for cold dw melee as well.
Dont get discouraged to play what you like, especially as your first few characters.
saddly no build for dual pistols :(
You can try Rutnick Opppressor/Paladin, Sandspitter Paladin/Warlord, Fire Purifier
i use Demolitionist + Inquisitor, with fire attack for main, canister bomb and the turret
@@KingLich451 i wish there was a grimtools or something like this showing the build etc

Do you have any suggestion which role that I should take? I don't want to play with vitality and life leech again and want to choose Kyomon faction now.
Hi can u post a guide with the best build to beat crate boss?
hey. Thank you for the videos!!! fast q about Shieldbreaker build/ why you put points in flashbang? when there are only 2 points in resilience which gives 5% max res and 12% phys res.
Resilience is a conditional buff that only activates when you drop low. Flashbang is a debuff with 100% uptime.
@@rektbyprotoss yea mb xD I think it's a constant aura
great work Rek! thank you very much!
Why no mention of infiltrator among cold dw melee nightblade classes?
Honestly, it's a great alternative to reaper and breaker and just as good. I just don't have a dedicated guide/playthrough up for it atm.
How would you say Krieg Blade Arc Death Knight compares to either Primal Strike or Auradin on a new character?
Krieg Blade Arc DK is also really strong for a starter and was part of the initial sketch for a top 20 video format.
You can also try to aim for this version by MadLee once you have the gear for it www.grimtools.com/calc/D2pXE6L2
It's a bit more focused on RF and has better consistent dps as a result, but also needs better gear.

How much worse are Bone Harvest or Vitality Primal Strike builds than the ones recommended here? Am I better off leveling with what you recommend or can I wing it with one of those skills without suffering too much?

Hey , I am a huge fan of the game , can you recommend me a build that can go up to Sr 80 without green gear ?
Do you already have tons of purple gear or why do you hate green gear?
@rektbyprotoss I have a lot of purples and most of the sets completed, I find it difficult to find a green piece with the ideal resistances and bonuses for example I trying to build a Devastation Sorcerer and the build I found needs 2 Gollus rings , I have killed it more than 20 times and don't have yet the traits I want
Looking for an updated cold spellbreaker build
