Doing that only becomes necessary when the window openings are less then the width of the drywall. Trades that follow will know their job will be done more smoothly when they know in advance who came before and looked out for them.
I was in the trades (carpenter) back in the 80's... every day you did not work in winter due to the weather conditions was a day you did not make any money. It was like being between a rock and a hard place - miserable either way. That was in southern Alberta - not as cold as Edmonton but insane winds.
Give you a lot of credit. I work on a framing crew, and its only me and two other guys. The job we are on now is a 2 story with 14' walls. Cant imagine building a roof solo. Keep up the good work, stay safe, and keep these videos rollin in.
I'm a roofer here in TN. I've been off all week because it's cold lol. Sitting here watching you work. hahaha I'd buy you a beer if you ever come this way!
Also, this should be a commercial for Dewalt cordless system. My Milwaukee was too cold to charge the other day and it was just below freezing really. I can't even leave them in the cold toolbox over night.
Also, again, lol, but Cougar Paw roofing boots stick like velcro to OSB, even when it's icy. One of the best tools I ever bought. I can walk up a 11 pitch like spiderman with those boots on.
@@drewhendrix502 nice response dude! You don't even know me and you know that I am gay! You had me and my boyfriend in stitches. You've made my day bro, thanks :)
Looking at the weather forecast in Alberta....from now until about Feb 10th or 12th would be a good time to stay inside and have a beer. At least by that time it would be above 17 (C) / 0 (F). Much respect amigo.

After watching you thinking about giving a try this spring solo and I'm going to try the drywall hole in the wall instead of having to go back and nail a window in. Keep the great videos coming.
Great job as always! I think roofers like it when the rake framing is held off the other roof an inch or so. That allows them to roof up under very easy.
Two questions... what's up with the green lumber and also why don't you cut the fascia board that dies into the lower roof like an inch or so short so the roofers can shingle under it with ease? Its supported by look out blocks, wouldn't make a difference structurally
All them backing for the railings cabinets towel bars etc is on the plan or is it something you do extra for the other trades because we don't have any backing for all those stuff

Gotta get me one of those guns...liked the translation from roof pitch to degrees..can u provide a chart from 4/12 to 12/12 with degrees of rafter cuts and seat cuts ?
With it being so cold is there any concern about the wood expanding when it warms up? Especially since the OSB got wet from snow? I'm surprised the OSB wasn't ruined from the moisture. This roof design seems like a nightmare. Wasted space just for aesthetics it seems. Gonna suck for the roofers who have to deal with it, but I'm sure it was a much bigger pain for you. I wonder if they sell some sort of clamps that could safely grab the boards/panels & attach to rope and let you pull them up without damaging them. A winch and pulley setup might be a good idea at some point. Will the people who do the finishing have to tape the seams of the panels on the outside and fill in gaps and such? Or cover it with house wrap or something? Or will it just get covered with siding of some sort?
Back when I was plumbing houses, I had to carry the tub/shower stall in the sliding door and up the stairs. Some custom houses had those damn cast iron tubs. These kids today get heaters, I was just glad to have shoes. And yes it was uphill both ways!
It looks like you hand nail a nail to the top edge of the installed roofing sheet between each roof truss before you install the next sheet above. Why?
you are one crazy framer :) , i'm waiting for your new episodes like waiting for Lucifer new series on Netflix :) your are the best !!! i give you the sum of all my respects :)
