Clip from the superb video, Jaguar - Victory By Design, covering the XJ220 racer (the XJ220 C-type). Superb footage as Alain de Cadenet canes a standard car and the racer around the track. DVD is recommended viewing and covers the major racing Jaguar sports-cars from the first to the last.
Snarky sound, fantastic lines, and extraordinarily innovative. I love it.
Best looking Jaguar ever! Love the fact that they did go to Le Mans with the XJ220-C! It is really great that Jag did make that attempt! RESPECT and LOVE to Jaguar for that and, on the side, the 1993 GT class win!
One of my favorites cars and a great masterpiece British engineer, still beautiful no matter how old is, like British designs has that touch of class and sport how done by McLaren, Aston Martin , Bentley and Jaguar.
He needs to do this show again.
One of the most beautiful looking cars
The most beautiful car, ever
check out the XJ 13... my favorite ...soon to be urs...?/!
Search under XJ220C Le Mans 1993 and you can see it in action spanking Porsche in the GT class.
RIP Alain
Beautiful car and great video - what a great engine sound!
I remember that customers were retracting their orders when it turned out to be less then what Jaguar has promised. It's competitor from the same brand - XJR-15 was full carbon-fiber, 6.0 V12 race machine and was much better even if cost twice the money of XJ220 (though you got race events included in that price with XJR).
A GT in 93 with 850bhp? Not surprised it won. Lol
If fact the XJ220 was fitted with the MG Metro 6R4 engine but with twin turbos added. Just imagine that in the 6R4, it doesn’t bear thinking about!
A 90’s version of the Xj 13
awesome car and a very cool race car!
de Cadenet clearly just said that it was a successful racer. It won its category in Le Mans.
About time they re-released this with the V12 it always should have had ...
550hp and 218mph is pretty good.
Agreed...especially the time it came out ,still impressive to this day
AMAZING! i think in a class way above both Ferrari and Lambo! - Jaguar just have that "je ne sais quoi"! - and with Alain at the steering wheel, well, what could one ask for more?
I love the car the 90s Front 213. ✌🏼💫
Xj220 is just so much more beautiful than the xjr...
Only partially correct, the only success that the car saw was at the '93 Le Mans race, where it took a class win, but was subsequently DSQ'ed after post-race inspection found that it's exhaust manifold was out of regulation.
0:38 is it okay for engine, when Alain always turn engine off right after pretty fast journey on high RPM?
I mean does it supposed to keep on idle for at least minute or two before turning ignition off?
Amazing things are possible through editing
Beast.
3:55 Well... If that isn't the equivalent of surprise buttsex for a car, I don't know what it is...
👍😎
Very cool
Where is this filmed?
JCBs garden.
Why the fuck is a British man say alooominum
排気音がたまらない♪
XJ220 is a very fast car and even now, it is still fast but XJ220C is not a successful racer. The size was way too big to compete with other rivals.
jaguar dropped ball the with xj220 it was supposed a four cam V12 engine not a puny pathetic V6!
A puny pathetic v6 that outperformed almost anything else at the time.
Oh dear.... You couldn't be more wrong. They tested the v12 and it was too heavy and not powerful enough to make it reach 220mph.
The V6 was a twin turbo rally derived engine from group B in the Metro XR4.
There's a company now that sells parts and tunes engines for the XJ220 that can produce over 800hp with light modifications. Name a classic Hypercar that is capable of that.
You are a fucking moron.
TIT!
The decision to put the V6 was due to emissions regulations and it made the car lighter.
Wrong
