My dad likes the first movie because he can somewhat relate to how Rambo feels. Both Rambo and my dad came back from a war and were both treated like shit.
I remember a Vietnam War vet explaining the difference between WW2 vets and Vietnam vets. He said they both fought a similar type of war, one that was brutal and unforgiving. Vietnam was one of those odd wars that was the last before the coining of modern warfare took place. WW2 vets got to ride home on ships across the Atlantic. They had time to "debrief" as he put it. Like 6 weeks or something like that and they got to be with all their friends and brothers in arms. Vietnam vets had no such luxury. Once they were deemed unfit to serve, they were taken back stateside and promptly medically discharged. Americans during WW2 were behind their soldiers all the way and got a standing ovation when they returned home. Once again, Vietnam vets had no such privilege. Many were scorned, spat on, called baby killers and all sorts of other vile crap. And no that is not just me repeating what Rambo said in First Blood, that was the reality for many Vietnam vets. Vietnam vets got done so wrong by their government and even their own people.

Arrested for bull shit reasons. Tormented by the deputies in the station. (Which included awakening his PTSD) Hunted with lethal force for escaping the station. Shot at repeatedly before he defended himself and killed that deputy in self-defense. Hunted through the forest while taking out the deputies with no casualties except the helicopter. Attacked by the national guard and blown up. Branded a national criminal for defending himself. And then, instead of clearing up the mess after learning that he'd been assaulted by the deputies first, the sheriff continued the manhunt with intent to cause him great pain and / or death out of pride. Really, Rambo's response was in no way disproportionate.
Rambo just wanted something to eat and Teasle had to bust him and his cronies were beating him. No wonder his PTSD jumped into overdrive. While Rambo's response was disproportionate, it was avoidable only if Teasle wasn't being a dick to begin with. You'd think Geras would see that if he really watches over the timelines.
IMO, Teasle was jealous of John. John was young and had a near perfect physique. He was a decorated war hero. In other words John was everything Teasle wasn't.
MK11's Tier List aside, I loved to play with him. Even more with the Movie Marathon of all his Movies and finally enjoy him in its whole splendor. Stallone and John Rambo are Immortalized here forever 🔥

Disproportionate? Rambo got arrested for wanting something to eat instead of walking 5 miles to the next town, got beat up by teasels deputies, showered with a fire hose, and then shaved dry. They got what they deserved.
John Rambo was based on World War II hero and Hollywood actor Audie Murphy. Audie Murphy was one of the most decorated US soldiers, receiving the Medal of Honor for his exploits. His heroism and experiences in the war inspired David Morrell to create the character of Rambo. In addition, the name "Rambo" was chosen by Morrell because of its sound and associations with strength. It is also associated with a Rambo apple that Morrell saw in an orchard.
Tbf that was a war no American soldier wanted to be in. It was a pointless, wasted, avoidable war that they drug thousands of innocent men, women, and sadly children through
I’ve also noticed how so many people go from leaving behind religion(more often than not Christianity)only to then become just as insufferably fanatical about some political narrative(far left, far right, doesn’t matter). Is Rambo officially canon in MK now and not just a cameo character? Liu Kang’s comment about the Shaolin wanting to heal Rambo made it sound like they had an ongoing story going for him.
