How on Earth France didnt win is still a mystery 20 years on! Very classy ballad and the best of this sorry field. Greece was fantastic - very fresh for it's time and still sounds good today.
i know *-*
the french entry is clearly the best of that year and it was a weak year anyway, so it obviously should've won *-*
@@clu756 I remember watching this contest live, and remember being extremely disappointed with the results. Rather Denmark than Estonia when it comes to the top 2, but France was in a league of it's own that year. I have to admit, Netherlands was underrated even if Ebonique should have got the job. Turkey was also something refreshing for them at the time as well - very strong ballad.
Oh and Germany was a great song too.
@@some.random.baldie2111 I completely agree! Usually I'm happy when my favorite places 4th but in 2001 it's just a big disgrace for France. It should've been the runaway winner!
I think France TV wouldn't organize the contest, they had difficulties to have commentators, think to have presentators. With the difficulty to have commentators we had the worst, Dave and Fogiel, in 2002 they hated the city, they moqued the spanish contestant.
My favorite country in Eurovision..... Slovenia is my first in 2001 followed by Greece :D
What your best for 2003 and you Agree With first place in 2005(by the way same girll))
The running order was terrible, all the bad songs were before Spain, and since Spain the show seems great!
Best entrys malta estonia greece denmark spain
greece for the win!
Greece did not want to win at Eurovision 2001 because the Greek public broadcaster ERT said that Greece did not have a stadium to host the competition as the OAKA basketball court was being built for 2004.

Slovenia Douze Points
Denmark is my winner!
Only Greece, Spain, Estonia, France and Germany were good that year.
Again, this year has a bad reputation for, not much actually... People just saw someone saying it was bad once and now everybody thinks it's bad. There are definitely some good stuff here, and I fail to see anything here as truly awful, plus, we get gems like Greece, Denmark, Spain, France...
2004 is way worse. A lot of songs from that year are awful.
@@gg454lune agreed, 2004 may be the worst year in terms of quality overall
@@masond7573 Tbh, I would say 2002.
@@Ajeeb_Aalu 2002 was pretty weak too but there are a few performances I think are good, not crazy about any song from '04 tbh. And there were more entries too
@@masond7573 I think it comes down to personal opinion. Because I liked 2-3 songs in 2004. But 2002 was a dud in my opinion. But I think, we can both agree the early 2000s was a train wreck.
I get why Estonia won. It was such a bland and mediocre year (overall, because I liked Norway, Ireland, Portugal, Germany, Malta, Iceland, Sweden, Spain, France, Greece, Denmark and Estonia) and it absolutely stood out because of its happiness, upbeat music and charismatic performers. They just really took their moment and peaked at the right time. I think it's a very underrated winner among the fans
Greece did not want to win at Eurovision 2001 because the Greek public broadcaster ERT said that Greece did not have a stadium to host the contest as the OAKA basketball court was being renovated for the 2004 Olympic games.
I hope either Greece or Slovenia will win!
