Blissfully baffled by brushes💖 Thankyou for taking the time to give us a fun and informative video, although i have been painting for a while it was fun to learn of some new brushes and i will be adding a few to my collection soon.
Thank you for sharing your brushes and experience. Good informative videos are priceless. I paused and checked out the Rotary Tree brush and purchased both of them. 🫣 I thought about 🤔💭 “creating” them from and older brush…🙄gee I’m 73, retired not 23 working with kids 🤣. The new brushes will be here by July 11, amazing! I have a passion for brushes, especially tiny one and creative ones along with big Quils. Thank you for the trick on how to reuse the plastic brush cover without damaging the brush! I can’t wait to share your information with credit to you. I remember using that twisting thing on something else, but not on what I used it on. 🤔 This will help me safely carry my brushes with me. And if they slide out, there’s very little, if any, chance of damage. And I can pack them away without having to wait for them to dry until I get home. Thank you again. Just wanted to complement your beautiful English voice. I’ve grown up in the South and have a strong southern accent. 🤭🫣🫢 Enjoy this wonderful month, as I see it, as all things are growing here for Artists to paint and keep alive! Fran 😊

Hullo, I have quite a collection of brushes myself painting for over 45+ years. I have only 1 #12 Kolinsky Sable brush that was my Grans who gave it to me before she passed away. I have used it for several years after college but now it sits on my shelf as a remembrance! I like the new synthetic brushes they are making. Back when I started synthetic brushes were only good for acrylic's if even them! Now they make synthetic "hair" in various diameters just like real hair! It allows them to work just like natural hairs and I use Aqua Elite brushes from Princeton and The Heritage velvet touch from Princeton too. For budget brushes I like the Mimik Synthetic Squirrel brushes from Creative Mark. I love working with rounds and my Gran taught me to use a #12 round for most everything! She was very "old school" and once said that if you need more than one brush your just being lazy! I guess I have gotten lazy or more relaxed as I have quite a collection and I love using different brushes to make painting easier for me! So Mottlers and liners even flats are brushes I enjoy using! I enjoyed seeing your brushes and should you ever address brushes again, you might include some paint in your brush as you show the strokes you like making with each particular brush! I like showing a class as an introduction to watercolors simple strokes and how brushes can ease your job as you work. I am sure you would do a wonderful video for your viewers! OH, BBBB!
thank you for sharing your brush journey with us, pete! :D i'm glad you also agree that synthetics are much better these days. no need to fork out for natural hair. and thank you for the suggestion, i'll keep them in mind :) YES, u made it til the end too! woohoo! XD
Blissfully baffled by brushes 🤩 When Rosemary was discontinuing their squirrel mops I bought so many. Probably way too many large ones. I don't paint with those a lot, but I loooove the smallest ones and use them instead of rounds. Such amazing points. Wish I had bought more of those sizes. I hate the Sienna! It drops paint so weird and is the worst synthetic squirrel I have in terms of the fibers too. One of the few misses I have from Rosemary. I adore their squirrel triangle brushes, I highly recommend. I love them so much. I also have the travel cat's tongue and travel triangle in the golden fibers and find them incredibly useful. I haven't tried the rotary tree brush, but I have tried their deerfoot stippler and their foliage and tree brushes, and they are great. I did get a sable brush in a set where the hair was not absorbent, and they did take care of it for me! My tintoretto long synthetic squirrel liners are essentially reservoir brushes and I still really really love them. The travel one is heavy, but, it needs to be to have balance. I don't like the ambra as much and it's even heavier. I love my travel Kolinsky that I managed to sneak into the US, LOL. We can't order Kolinsky from Rosemary, unfortunately. Lately I'm super into my bamboo brushes as I've been painting etegami. I don't like my Jackson's brushes at all. I have only tried a couple. I have never used a waterbrush!
yay! thanks for watchinig til the end jenn! XD omg yesss, im so glad you also use small squirrel mops as a round brush! and i agreeeeee, Rosemary's sienna is horrible! i dont know how they finalized that product! i'm sure even beginners wouldn't like to paint with it either! oh jenn~ u just answered my question that i didn't even ask, i've been eyeing the deerfoot and foliage brushes! which size do u recommend for each of them?
@@PaintinHiding If I had to choose one I'd go with the Tree & Texture brush Series 32, and I got the smallest size, 1/4. It's a great size for smaller sketchbooks. With the Deerfoot Series 35, it's exponentially larger because the ferrule is round instead of flat. (The pictures on the website are deceiving; check the catalog, I love how it's actual size!) I got the 3/8" Deerfoot and I find it rather large, although I did use it successfully the other day in a smallish painting. But I wish I'd bought 1/8' and/or 1/4" (which again would be rather larger than the tree & texture). Hey, I'd love to see a demo of the rotary tree brush! I was literally just looking for a video, any video, of someone using that brush as described on the website. None exist! Actually they made a video, but NOT SHOWING HOW TO USE IT!?? I can't make heads or tails of the instructions without the thing in my hand.
@@PaintinHiding PS I guess I've never bought a Foliage & Tree Series 34, because they run quite large! The small is 13.5 mm wide! But looks quite similar to the series 32, both have badger hair and the 32 maybe has slightly longer bristles, not quite as splayed.
@@jennw6809 yyes! thank you so much for the thorough recommendation jenn! i truly appreciate it :D i shall have to whip out the catalogue whilst reading your comment again later when i get home ;) rotary tree brush demo - i'll be honest jenn, i've been testing it and testing it, and i really can't figure out how to use it either 🤣 what is today... june 9. ok so i'm working on a shinhan vid at the moment but how about this... i will see if i can film some footage of me messing about with the brush. it won't be an instructional vid but at least you'll get to see some brushstrokes that it could make. how does that sound?
I can relate to not liking the water brushes. They don’t feel the same as normal brushes. I also don’t like that they sometimes leak just above the brush head.
Wow!!! So awesome brushes collection!! I love it❤, thank you so much for sharing all your brushes and your recommendations! I have to said, that the Fuumuui brushes are very, very good brushes, I have a travel set of three rounded brushes, and the sizes are perfect! I love them sooo much! I'm very impressed about them. I have a few cheap brushes I love, the Royal and Langnickel Menta series, those are a synthetic squirrel brushes and they work perfectly! And the brand Artegria and Nicpro brushes. They're awesome too. I have the Mimic brushes from Try me, they are very, very good brushes. I think they perform much better than the Fuumuui. u made it! thank you so much! i know it was a long tedious watch 😁 i believe jackson’s offers lots of various shapes too, i think in their Silverline and it’s synthetic as well. i think tintoretto has some pretty unique travel brushes but they aren’t as readily available worldwide
And I thought I had a lot of brushes! I must be hard on my brushes because I've noticed the outside bristles seem to be breaking fairly quickly. I don't jam them into the bottom of my water jar (i actually bought a couple brush 'pucks') and I clean them after use. Not sure whats happening. I'm even slowly switching over to full pans, since the 1/2 pans are hard on brushes. I usually use Prineton Velvet Touch and Silver Black Velvet. I use synthetic only. I think I'll try the Fuumuui, since the price is great and you recommend them. Edited to add. I just tried to purchase from Fuumuui and yes, they do have a lot of new things. Unfortunately, shipping is not free ($6.00) but the 10% discount code does work.
hmm… im not sure about bristles “breaking”. do you mean frayed? for a quick fix, have u tried the warm/hot water method? get water to a simmer (hot but no need to be boiling, too hot can actually dammage bristles) pour it into a cup, then dip ur brush in, give it a quick 3 second swish swash as if u were cleaning off your brush, remove and check if the bristles have returned to a point. if not, try another 3 seconds in the hot water. i’ve done this trick successfully a few times. works with natural hair as well but i find synthetics tend to fray more often than natural hair. hope that helps! oh no, im sorry about the code. last i checked it was still working just fine. i’ll need to ask them about it. thank you for letting me know julee :)
