      Craig Searer Would you say the rf-sr has a lot of buffeting when on a sport bike?

    Just bought a Qwest (end of line item ) . Best helmet I have ever owned , comfortable, quiet , light on the head and
    a real feeling of quality.

    Just ordered a RF SR which is called RYD in Asian market. It is a great commuting, daily use helmet and a good touring helmet as well.

    Good video for me thinking about buying RF-SR for the replacement of qwest.
    As you saying, operating ventilation lids looks easier with qwest.
    Since removable interior became standard even with basic models now, No reason for me to hesitate to get one.
    Thank you!

    Great video...I've been looking at upgrading my Icon Dark Helmet to a Shoei 1200 or the RF-SR. Again, great job! Liked and subbed! 👍👍

    Thanks for the review and contrast, tried to get the qwest but discontinued, only a few small or xxl sizes available. Opted for the rf-sr [or ryd in Europe] as it scored a maximum five star safety rating in the UK sharp test. Bought an LS2 breaker helmet recently , only to find it scored a very poor two star rating in the sharp evaluation. Even though it achieved the ECER22-05 European rating, makes you wonder.

    Dude! Thanks for the video, I was looking at the rf sr but ima save some money and get the qwest. Both Snell approved and quality feel. No brainer.

    RF-SR does have a lockable visor, look at your paperwork.

    Thanks for sharing your opinion about them. I have very difficult time to find proper helmet for my head shape (I have wider back side of my head and it creates hot spots on my head after 30 mins of riding). I was able to try at my local dealer some helmets with round shape oriented such us AGV and HJC (which was recommended ). But in the end of my visit i tried RF1200 and realized that even this "mid oval" shape helmet fits me better, probably because of EPS smooth and rounded finish instead of a lot cut outs an Scorpion, AGV and HJC. Since i'm also ADV rider (V-Strom) I decided to look for Qwest and RF-SR. Based on the description from several retailers on the web Qwest is more "Round shape" helmet, which potentially may fit me better if this is true story. So my question is about the shape and comfort of them. Have you noticed any difference? Any specific spots become tighter / loose?

      Qwest is definitely more round than the RF1200. I never once got hot spots in my Qwest or the RF-SR and both are more oval shape than round. There is the slightest difference between those two, I felt the RF-SR was more oval than the QWEST but only by a fraction. If you can try both, I recommend it. Also with the RF-SR you can swap out different internal pad sizes to help alleviate any hot spots that may come up.
      Revzilla has an amazing return policy just make sure it has all original packing and boxed up like new. Worth the hassle IMO if your local dealership doesn't carry both. Another option might be the Schuberth (can be expensive) but high quality helmets and have heard they fit nicely on round and oval head shapes.

      Craig Searer thank you for your response. Will be able to test fit qwest and rf-sr this Friday 60 miles away from my home. And will probably order rf-st from RevZilla but have to wait for white color availability till the end of the month (as always lucky, all colors except white).

    Do they fit similar? I have a round head shape and qwest always pop up in recommendation. I'm not sure if rf-sr is also for round head shape.

    • @CraigSearer
      @CraigSearer  4 года назад +1

      They are similar but not exactly the same. I think the Qwest is more comfortable in terms of fit, but heavier on your head than the RF-SR. I also feel the Qwest is more round than the RF-SR, but only every so slightly. You can't go wrong with either but make sure you buy new or just a year old as helmets are only made to last about 5-7 years before the glue that holds them together starts to deteriorate.

      @@CraigSearer Thanks man for replying in detail even though your vid is already 2yrs ago. I really appreciate it. Do you still have the rf-sr? what currently do you use? qwest is already discontinued so I guess I'm saving up for rf-sr.

    • @CraigSearer

      I actually have both and use the RF-SR as my main helmet, my Qwest is my backup/second rider helmet. I would definitely recommend trying on the helmet before buying if you can. The nice thing about Shoei helmets is you can swap out the pads to make it more comfortable, some other brands do that too

    I picked up an RF-SR to replace my Scorpion that is still in good shape, but isn't the best fit. The Shoei is leagues better in every conceivable way. More comfortable, quieter, less "bobblehead", much better airflow...

    • @CraigSearer
      @CraigSearer  6 лет назад

      Doug Elick great choice for a replacement. I do like my RF-SR better than my Qwest simply for the airflow. The build quality of Shoei is top notch and the RF-SR is no different. Ride safe!

    I’m disappointed with my $400 rf-sr. I get a ton of buffeting

      Curious, what helmet you had before? And did you have buffeting with that one...less/more?

      Craig Searer I’m on a CBR1000RR. I probably should have gotten the 1200. You think the 1200 would deal with the turbulence better?

    • @CraigSearer
      @CraigSearer  4 года назад

      Mitchell Mitchell it could be marginally better. Looks like the RF1200 is more of a sport bike shape and the RF-SR is more adventure/touring bike shaped. What helmet did the RF-SR replace?

    • @mitchellmitchell6938
      @mitchellmitchell6938 4 года назад

      Craig Searer it was an icon that I never had issues with. It was just old and crappy looking. I bought an rf-1200 yesterday and am waiting for it to arrive. I’ll let you know the difference once I try it!!

    • @CraigSearer
      @CraigSearer  4 года назад

      @@mitchellmitchell6938 very curious if you get buffeting with the new one. Let us know as the RF1200 may be more sport bike oriented if that's the case. Good luck and ride safe. If you have a bluetooth communicator for motorcycle helmets, I've got a video on that too.
