Been away for a bit, but I have a few videos in the pipeline! I recorded this footage back in September, but between a handful of things haven't been able to really sit down and edit until a few weeks ago. I don't like having big gaps between recording and editing since remembering exactly what I did becomes pretty challenging, but sometimes that how it be. Hopefully see you guys in around a week again for a Besiege video!
pretty sure they added trig function blocks like yesterday lol.. unfortunate timing but still epic!! edit: I apologize, they're coming tmr. PLS finish what u started with the new blocks (or I will.. after finals 🥲)
I just put on a VOD of a streamer playing Besiege and thought "I wonder what Reid Captain is up to". Then half an hour later I opened youtube and saw this video. You can imagine my surprise
I think the most hellish game to make a computer in would be astroneer in my opinion, The base building mechanics are so scuffed but I feel like it could be possible
Watching you find so many workarounds with the limitations you have to figure out something technically amazing makes me confident that finishing my computer engineering degree is right for me lol
I feel so bad for you reid. Making something where all of your troubles are fixed in the update that comes out a few hours after you releaase a video would be incredibly frustrating for me.
There is a thing called complexity mod and complexity bypass which are both available in the steam workshop in game which 1 complexity mod allows you to select a different complexity limit and complexity bypass just removes the complexity limit entirely. (I said complexity 6 times)
I seriously love this. This is the literal best video I've ever seen about trailmakers. But, by the title, I was expecting an actual 8-bit computer, like the one @mattbatwings made a tutorial series on in minecraft.
Big fan Reid, you should check out Brick Rigs some time, the logic in that game has pretty much no limitations. u can make it if ur smart enough, im friends with a guy who has made a fully functional Pong game. the posibilities are insane people make everything from games ballistic computers flight controll systems, G force calculators, AOA rangefinders with lead for shooting planes missles radar systems the logic in that game can be a bit tough to get used to but once u get it you are only limited by how smart u are and thats just the logic part of the game you can make fully functional swashplate systems for helis and other stuff
Hey, there's actually a way to achieve multiplication analytically by using the division operator. This is how I have been able to do inverse kinematics. Unfortunately this approach of using division isn't accurate enough for ray tracing, but i am excited for the new logic update that will make that possible :)
If anyone still want to take a peek at how I did it, it's simply called AB and searching by recent on the WS you will find logic under the name "F277f4"
I'm an absolute idiot when it comes to making anything with logic in trailmakers. Not only does this video even teach you how to make a computer it also teaches you how to use the new logic gates which I need to learn so thanks.👍👍 EDIT: not 5 minutes in and I can see you're a genius so I got a challenge for you. Make a playable snake eats apple game
Are you planning a the enjenir video soon? Also i discovered the enjenir which is my favourite flatscreen game of all time and besiege from you so thanks so much for that!
On the one hand, it would have been nice to save on some blocks so that I could make some more stuff automated, but on the other, it was still fun working through what I had at the time
1.9.5 just came out with sin & cos math stuff. Also with new sensor types. You can also download the complexity mod. (Allows you to go above 700 complexity)
Do you think advanced anti air Tracking is gonna be possible with the 1.9.5 update ? Combining both the new mouse aim, angle sensors, and normal servos ?
For the mechanical approach to the sin and cos, you could create a limb that rotates from lying flat to standing completely straight, and then place two lines of distance sensors along the ground where it rests and next to the limb when it is upright, forming a right angle, enclosing the first quadrant of the unit circle of which the limb is the radius. Would this allow you to find a rough approximation for the trig functions, or am I misunderstanding how distance sensors work?
Obviously, this would be very imprecise, and have its own logistics challenges, but I just thought it was cool that it may be possible to derive the sin and cos naturally for calcualtions.
Btw that's not a block count. The block count is the number next to the blue, well, block. Theres no block limit, but a complexity limit. Which can be mitigated with a well known mod.
Making a computer on a game made on a computer made by hardware that exists on what's probably a reality that's made on a computer that's made on a game that's- anyways...

I think it’s funny that the combat update with the function blocks is about to or just came out
@@ReidCaptain yeah there are a ton of new logic blocks in the next update randomization blocks and a TON of math blocks
Too bad you didn’t make this project in 1.9.5
There’s a Trailmakers update coming out in literally 40 minutes that has trig functions and more maths stuff, as well as other sensor outputs.
BESIEGE LET'S GOOO
Nobody tell him that the next update brings sin/cos/etc. functions to the game
This is why I can't sit on videos in games that get frequently updated 🤦♀️
And also on the day before it gets released
To late
@@ReidCaptain keep rolling that boulder
@@ReidCaptain the update happens today too lol.
Reid: *explaining something*
Me: I like your funny words, magic man
This got serious when Reid busted out the Desmos Graphing Calculator
So true tbh wild stuff
@@RichRaccfr so true fr!
I see Reid Captain, I click Reid Captain

You can use complexity mod to increase the complexity limit.
Microsoft edition
Did I just get tricked into learning math? >:0
pretty sure they added trig function blocks like yesterday lol.. unfortunate timing but still epic!!

They come out in half an hour
Good luck on finals
@@tetronaut88 they come out in -9.5 hours
I just put on a VOD of a streamer playing Besiege and thought "I wonder what Reid Captain is up to". Then half an hour later I opened youtube and saw this video. You can imagine my surprise
We got Mumbo Jumbo here. "It's quite simple" we see massive machine
Yooo this is so cool! Good job, Reid! Unbelievable! And this is even before the massive”advanced logic” (and aiming servo) update. So impressive!
I think the most hellish game to make a computer in would be astroneer in my opinion,
The base building mechanics are so scuffed but I feel like it could be possible
now all we gotta do is wait for someone to make bad apple on it.
Watching you find so many workarounds with the limitations you have to figure out something technically amazing makes me confident that finishing my computer engineering degree is right for me lol
I just installed this game and can’t beat the campaign, and Reid shows up, and makes a flipping computer.
I finally found a use for my math classes, to understand the simplest concepts of your videos.
We all have that feeling we cant wait for tomorrow, but usually, its not mant to be taken literally
A suprise, but a welcome one.
You still haven't built a computer in Scrap Mechanic
They've added sin and cos funtions in the new update
Can't wait for, "I made a pc in TerraTech".
Are you some kind of computer scientist? Awesome video, as alway!
Dude they are just about to release a functions logic dlc, with sin and cos and random numbers!
This is like a great value version of the dlc
@@ReidCaptainits free block when the update come.... yeah
@@ReidCaptain all of those are free. The dlc is another skin pack
@@ReidCaptain hey, yknow whats great tho? the value.

Bros computer is in bionic league 😭🙏
Underrated RUclipsr man.
Bro is a genius in his craft. Also has a dream and does multiple stuff at once.
A Mechanical Calculator in Gearblocks would be really cool

This is by far the closest I've come to wanting to relearn calculus.
I seriously love this. This is the literal best video I've ever seen about trailmakers. But, by the title, I was expecting an actual 8-bit computer, like the one @mattbatwings made a tutorial series on in minecraft.
The logic is too limited lol
i fear for what will happen if this man gets really into the circuits in factorio
Seeing this after failing calculus is saddening
My Aeronautics brain cannot relearn logic anymore :(
Big fan Reid, you should check out Brick Rigs some time, the logic in that game has pretty much no limitations. u can make it if ur smart enough,
im friends with a guy who has made a fully functional Pong game.
the posibilities are insane
people make everything from
games
ballistic computers
flight controll systems, G force calculators, AOA
rangefinders with lead for shooting planes
missles
radar systems
the logic in that game can be a bit tough to get used to but once u get it you are only limited by how smart u are
and thats just the logic part of the game
you can make fully functional swashplate systems for helis and other stuff
Now make your music synthesiser in Trailmakers
My fav guy uploaded
I have an idea, its a supersonic trbuchet, it uses the rotational force, get released fast enough to get to super sonic, just an idea.
Welcome Back man :)
How long untill Reid makes a supercomputer in Minecraft
Who do you think he is, mumbo jumbo?

Bro literally just did math for 15 minutes 39 seconds
I love the logic the devs have of adding new logic blocks, but forcing you to use a constant value instead of an option for a dynamic value
pls collab with scrapman, that would be so cool

Glad to see you again!
Here is our upload for the friday(s), but it is certainly worth the wait! Would be cool to see you try doing an autogyro with new besiege update
there are new sin cos tan options and things like that. i think you should definitely revisit this
Another computer? YIPPEE
Are you secretly nilered
Trailmakers! One of my all time favourite games XD hate the logic tho, I'm not smart enough for it
Please do more Trailmakers !
I want to see you try to make a drag racer in Besiege
I'm excited to watch this
It was good
Are you planning a the enjenir video soon? Also i discovered the enjenir which is my favourite flatscreen game of all time and besiege from you so thanks so much for that!
This is bad ass, I made a car that shakes itself apart when I drive on any surface!
we learning math in trailmakers 😭
goated youtuber, goated game
5:17 “not much going on under the hood” 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
There’s no way…
Oh there's a way
Reid makes the way
No wonder bro not been uploading, he was making a whole damn computer😭🙏
You should be able to make this a lot easier in the new update. Unfortunate timing lol
On the one hand, it would have been nice to save on some blocks so that I could make some more stuff automated, but on the other, it was still fun working through what I had at the time
A whole computer on trailmakers?? 😭😭😭😭
Play Stormworks next, it is perfect for all of this!
oh my I got scared thinking he maybe quit yt, glad you're back

limitation is the mother of creativity
when are you making trailmakers in trailmakers?
If your worried about doing more complex things, there is a mod for the game that let's you modify the complexity limit, beyond 700.
Has nobody told this man about Taylor series?
For the mechanical approach to the sin and cos, you could create a limb that rotates from lying flat to standing completely straight, and then place two lines of distance sensors along the ground where it rests and next to the limb when it is upright, forming a right angle, enclosing the first quadrant of the unit circle of which the limb is the radius. I love you Reid Captain

I made a simple caclautor before the update came out, now the update came out and my caclautor doesnt seem cool anymore😭😭

Next week!
HE'S ALIVE!!!!
Rc. I finally understand what the hell sin cos and tan finally do
Make it run doom
So glad I subbed
bro wants to make trailmakers in trailmakers
Not sure what you were doing, but neato
next thing you know making trailmakers in trailmakers
Their adding more logic blocks soon
ah yes i love doing this
Reid im not sure but i think you can just put 2 inputs into the arimethics block and it will work
no one tell him that is complexity mod for going beyond the complexity limits
Nice
I just played to day and i saw no update maybe cause im in the uk
No general multiplication lmfao
Don’t you dare put the most advanced technology in trailmakers and call it simple on the thumbnail
I can’t even figure out how an xor gate even is
Making a computer on a game made on a computer made by hardware that exists on what's probably a reality that's made on a computer that's made on a game that's- anyways...

LETS GO
Play space engineers! It’s your type of game

Try it in stormworks using only logic blocks.
