genuine question: are people who play modern buying these boxes or are they just getting the singles they need? New to MTG so just seeing what people usually do

It's a mix but I'd say modern players in our area are more likely to buy singles, some will open a box or two for the fun of it but generally it's too expensive to open boxes to try and get playsets of mythics, better off buying singles.

I think they are opening packs for the hunt for the eldrazi's, as draft is a nightmare with hardly any synergy in the set even otj had a better synergy
