If it ain't broke, don't fix it! Personally, I'm GLAD to have the classic Mario Party formula back!
Then why expect a new game? Just play the original mario party you liked.
There are some people who love the original games but also want to see updates and improvements to it. And people whining about mario party switch killed any chances it had at getting DLCs. So...thanks.
Now we just got another lackluster MP game with very few boards and which will likely no get DLC again.
@@benjamindeh873 I couldn’t disagree with you more. Most ppl just wanted Mario party remastered & we finally got it. They won’t sacrifice these motion controls for future releases but they finally listened to the Gen Z players who grew up with this route & ways of playing. & ppl don’t have N64 or ppl with the ability to couch play so this is perfect for those who are old and now new to the past times of a game that was perfect in its original form.
@@LateiiTheParty exactly! That’s fact
100% agree with u. People wanted the original maps and mini games and here it is. Now people are complaining about it. Can't win haha. I'm just looking forward to this game and that's it.
@Antoprogamer antikia I can assure you will be as well. Purchasing this without caring or having supported the previous gives the message you dont care about getting a half baked product with no dlc
I think it's somewhat unfair to criticize them for no new additions because that's exactly what the community has been asking for. Hard to fault a company for listening to fans.
Oh good, I'm not the only person who thought that ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
No changes is fine, but there still could have been improvements.
@@locodood1 but there were improvements? Quite a lot of them actually
If you were gonna go back to the original. Don't have 3 coin items and lucky spaces. It makes it too easy if everyone is rich.
@southpark 981 Yes, but it's TOO easy to buy stars. The game is throwing coins your direction each turn. That is the problem with the coins at this point. Nintendo's solution to everything seems to be give people more coins. That was one of the complaints from the the last game that didn't really get addressed.
The fact that Mario party games kept introducing new mechanics and gimmicks WAS one of the main reasons for the franchise's gradual demise. That's why they went back to its roots where Mario party first established its legacy
Some mechanics worked better than others. I like the original formula. But I want them to add stuff to the original formula. See what works, what doesnt?
Do allies work? Do boss battles work? Do people like a grid-based map from star rush? Even captain events from MP9 could threociattly work as a way to try and steal coins.
@@guyfierimtwi i honestly don’t mind if it was a SIDE mode and not the main mode. Many people grew up with the MP9 and onwards version of playing Mario party and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. I just wish they combined both the old and new formulas to make everyone happy
@@SpicyWah Having a boss battle for a star/coins could work. Make them spaces and events that happen throught the game. A story mode like in MP9 wouldve been great if not for the car. Those games were amazing but it was the car that ruined them. I bet if regular mario party was removed from mp9 and mp10 peoplr would see more in those games. The top 100, horrible, but I do likr the minigame pack idea. Glad they brought it back. The only thing thats missing for me is a star rush mode. Star rush mechancics should've been given anthoer chance, just to see how the fans would take it.
I don't think allies more in regualr mario party. They work in a star-rush type mode.
@@guyfierimtwi I have to give top 100 some credit. I felt like it laid down the foundation for superstars to bring back the previous boards and minigames. But I do agree that game was very lackluster. I never played 9 and star rush so I have no input on those titles but the partner party in super Mario party was similar to star rush with the grid like gameplay. It was just okay I wasn’t really a fan of having to plan 5000 steps ahead and end up not even landing on the space I wanted. Overall, I’m super glad superstars is a thing now
"The whole game from top to bottom is 100% old school"
Sold, can't wait to destroy the friendships I made in the 14 years the Mario Party series was bad.
Mario Party on the Switch was a great game.
@@brandonkruse6412 one good game does not make a great franchise
No, you will not destroy any friendships.
@@brandonkruse6412
It was a solid 7 for me
Huh. I thought people enjoyed ending friendships. Oh well. It would’ve at least explained how the older Mario Parties still sell for large amounts of money, despite them being over 15 years old
I’m very glad there aren’t any added gimmicks. This isn’t new Mario Party- it’s a celebration of old Mario Party. Having the allies would definitely ruin that feel
My problen is that hate on nd cube and because they made bad games their ideas cant be included. The ally and star rush systems were new, allies are weird. They work more in partner party and I really hoped they had something for new fans, which was partner party. It wouldnt ruin the game to be honest. I guess not.
Wait so this superstar is just same games from Mario party 1-4??
@@ESP12345 Not exactly. The boards are from Mario Party 1 - 3, but the minigames are from Mario Party 1 - 10. I highly recommend this game though as this is the best Mario Party experience we’ve had in over 10 years.
@@VeloxusGaming oh wow I didn't know they had mario party up to 10, last time as a kid I remember they had mario party 4. Okay thanks for the info I'll be sure to buy this game but, the Nintendo switch are out of stock at the moment :(
I only noticed allies were gone because of this comment heh. Only been able to play one game so far
I loved how excited Alex sounded when he said that this script was written by himself.

Excellent review! Well thought out, valid and fair criticisms and clearly honest opinions. Love your reviews Alex, keep up the amazing work!
I really want them to add DLC boards to this game, this is exactly what I've been hoping for for years, I just wish there were a few more boards, I'd gladly pay for more
Yeah but I want more boards and some new minigames for free
Yes, please.
I want more boards and characters, but I don't know that I'd be "glad" to pay for more. Considering how many free content updates some Nintendo games get these days, I'd expect new boards and characters to come free.
Yeah, I wouldn’t go so far as to say I would gladly pay for more. 4-5 boards in a modern game (particularly when they’re just reusing old ones) is disappointing, and it shouldn’t be a stretch to demand more for a $60 game.
@@James-zy5lh Good point, I meant it more in terms of I don't think there are enough boards in the base game but I would accept having to pay for more even if yeah you're right, there should be more in the base game and it would kinda feel like they're selling us content that could've been in the base game, free updates would be great, I'm just not gonna get my hopes up for that
I have never played a Mario Party before, but this sounds like an excellent place to start!
With online ability you will have a blast!
Yeah, im sure youll love it!
Oh absolutely! This is Mario Party before it got all wonky with weird gimmicks that just weren't fun.
This is the pure MP experience and it's great! =D
Honestly, this couldn't be a better place to start!
It's the N64 & GameCube Mario Party games, so absolutely.
To see them add back options to mario party makes me so happy. Super Mario Party lacked in that area and couple others. I'm really excited to pick this one up.
Great review. Never thought I’d get all misty-eyed playing Mario Party. Lots of wonderful childhood memories from these classic Mario Party games with my grandparents. God I miss those days so much….love you papaw and mamaw.
As the youngest sibling out of eight, I really grew up to appreciate the older game consoles and the Nintendo 64 and GameCube play the huge part in my childhood and my entire life as a gamer.
I remember lots of good memories playing the first three Mario parties on Nintendo 64 with friends family and neighbors alike. And then of course going on to play the GameCube installments and still having lots of fun with others even as we got older. I always enjoyed playing board games with my family. It was just that sort of Classic Fun you really grew to appreciate and value the memories as you get older. Mario party is the video game equivalent of that and I knew since I was little I would have lots of fun playing this game series.
I'm really looking forward to later today and I can't wait until my local Gamestop opens so I can pick up my copy. I'm so glad I pre-ordered and I'm really looking forward to having a childhood friend over so we can relive the good times and and just take it easy as we chillout eat some snacks and catch up with eachother.
It's time to party and we're all invited, not just any party...a MARIO PARTY!
"IT'S ALL ABOUT DK, BABY!!"
Never change, Alex ❤
No personal dices, no allies? YESSSS LOVE THIS GAME ALREADY
This game is the best Mario Party since Mario Party 3 and that’s saying a lot. Surprisingly the boards and characters also look very well with new animations and updated modern music.
Well I hope this game will do well and that we might get more Mario Party games like this but also 100% original! (In terms of boards and minigames of course (And maybe even new optional modes too!)) ^^
Getting rid of personalized dice blocked was one of the best things they did. You can actually play the character you want now rather than the character with the best dice. Cough cough Wario.
When was that a thing??
Honestly, I'd argue Rosalina's was worse because she could move up to 8 spaces on those small-ass boards. 😂 Add to that the allies, and she would get stars damn near every turn.
Like many others I wish that the game had more boards, but I'm still sold on it :) Hopefully more boards will be added in an update... Or even as DLC, I'd be willing to pay! (Well, as long as it's fairly priced...)
This game needs 3-4 more boards to make it feel complete and you gave me hope
More likely there will be a DLC for it
Apparently some dataminers found out that there are additional boards coming.
@@jwh3rooo746 Don't count on it.
The previous game needed it even more than this does (as it had even less boards) and it never got any.
@@enskje We will see. But I’m not buying the game till price drop $40 at the least if I’m only getting 5 Boards to start out. There’s other games coming out that is worth more of a $60 AAA Title plus few more months, Dying Light 2 coming out as well.
@@emanueltheodorus1056 nice
I grew up with Mario party 1 and 2 and I cannot be happier about being able to play horror land again
Great review Alex. I am totally for them keeping it old school, as I didn’t like 9 or 10 despite them trying all the new stuff; though Super I didn’t mind, but was so damn slow and didn’t allow pro control. I’ve played it a bit as I’m in Australia, and loved it. Cant wait to play it after work. Let’s all hope we get some extra boards though.
Whoa! Slow down Alex! You're speeding through this review too fast! All I was able to absorb from this was it's a real return to form and it's all about DK, baby!
I mean, to be fair, those two points are what matter most.
This’ll be the first Mario Party game I’ve played since Mario Party DS, being that none of the other Mario Party games afterwards really tickled my fancy. Which makes sense, since development of them would shift from Hudson Soft to ND Cube right afterwards. And while Super Mario Party seemed like a return to form, I didn’t really think the content it had was worth the $60 price tag.
But with Superstars being a collection of both the best minigames *and* boards from the first few games, as well as coming with online play right out of the gate, I’m more than looking forward to copping it tomorrow.👌🏽
I wish you could play local multiplayer and online multiplayer at the same time let's say you have only one friend to play with in person and you want the other two players to play through online instead of those spots being filled by CPU
From what people have told me you can
I think it says you can have 3 people on one console and the other online.... From what I've heard. Will try later today when the game drops
You can do that. Can do it over Lan too
@UC0DBQl4OjrbAzTrc0eM6dAw It does. I have a game
@@occheatsoft yep seems like this is the case..what a bummer
I've only played 6, 7, and 8 (not in that order), so the vast majority of this game is brand new to me! Super excited to finally play Mario Party again!
Queen Birdo is in. This alone makes this the best Mario party in years.
just.. that...
Absolutely #birdogang
Honestly, that was a big part of what made this the second most hype Nintendo E3 announcement for me, after Metroid Dread. Not just a return to form for the Mario Party series, but it has my absolute _favorite_ Mario character in it! And in the base roster too, not added via an update like Mario Tennis Aces.
I hope that this is the start of a comeback for Birdo, after she spent the entire 2010s as an NPC at most.
Really excited to try this out! Thought I'd never see the day when nintendo would go back to the old school mario party. Especially since the way nintendo has been since the wii era, when it felt like they refused to make a new game in a series unless they scraped everything that made it the fan favorite classics that they were, in favor of some gimmick they built the whole game around
I really hope they support the game. DLC boards and characters would be so easy to do
Have a fighters pass style dlc, where you would get a Character, A board and say 10 minigames
I hope they learned their lesson from Super Mario Party
I played this at a friends house recently and Mario party was pretty good! I enjoyed it! I may get this one soon. Maybe a good party game for groups of people. If they add more minigames/boards/characters for this one I hope they add the stages from the wii one that was the best in my honest opinion!
Really the only real issue here seems to be the amount of boards, only 5 and one of them is Peach's Birthday Cake which is pretty bllleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh.
Most of Mario party have 5-6 board some are unlockable. So not to down about it
@@thegoodjohn6258 yeah but this is literally a remastered to n64 to GameCube broads so 8-10 boards would’ve been perfect, I just hope they update it with new boards Bc 5 is ehhhhhhhhhhhh
@@HarryPeksPeks it might get the Mario tennis and golf treatment who knows
I don't know i found that one to be pretty.....sweet
The visuals in this title are really quite impressive for a Switch game.
It's honestly one of the best looking games on the Switch, and all that for a party game.
All the characters have lazy animations in these Mario Party games, I really wish it had the animation polish of other Mario games
No personalised dice and no allies is a good thing. Those are two things that absolutely ruined Super for me.
It was seriously weird when people were making TIER LISTS for characters and their dice. They put my boy Yoshi in F tier. What the F?
And no car.
Fuck those gimmicks
Waluigi holding a rose in his mouth - it's like he knows me?
Junior!
Kinda wish we could have a 50 turn-limit like in the GameCube games
I really don’t know why they took this out since it takes little to no effort. 50 turn games were iconic lol
Been playing it with my kids and I’m having a blast, of course I’m still toxic af but it’s hilarious through the whole play and never gets old to me 🥰
Now *THIS* is Mario Party 9!
I've been waiting for a good Mario Party game since Mario Party 8, and this one feels like a true successor to the Hudson Soft-era Mario Party games! ND Cube finally got their s--t together! :D
I'm extremely excited for this game to come out tonight but I really hope they add DLC. I would absolutely love some GameCube boards and the addition of capsule mode (where you can choose between classic items or capsules on every board)
Regardless, me and my girlfriend loved playing Super Mario Party together (which isn't great in my opinion) so I know we're gonna love this. She had never played the older games and I grew up with them so I'm hoping she enjoys it and would wanna go back to play the N64 and GameCube games
If they do decide to implement orbs from the GameCube Mario party, I will absolutely flip my mind
They're never gonna add gcn boards or orbs as dlc. That's too much coding work to make like 30 different orbs for 2 boards as dlc. If anything they'll make that a superstars 2
@@mtj8870 For the sake of fairness and in keeping with the celebratory nature of the N64 trilogy, they should add another board from MP3 to even it out.
Alex, I love your enthusiasm and passion in your content. Thanks for being you and being awesome!
The point we were all making is that we wanted the return to form they gave us exactly that with remade boards and mini games. I’m surprised you guys didn’t mention how there was a rework to the boards to make some a bit more playable or nerfed. All in all they did what they had to do and the game looks solid. To knock the game for not adding any “new”features or play modes makes no sense because that’s not what this game is and nowhere did they try to make it out to be that.
“We want OLD Mario Party!”
“We want new things added that everyone complained about”
Lol right? They WANT the broken ally spaces to come back? Or the unique dice blocks, while a cool idea, creates a tier list for a series that shouldn’t have one.
Also technically the Lucky Spaces are new
Who complained about the character dice blocks? Those were fantastic
@@nintendubs2265 They added a tier list and advantage to a game that didn't need it. There were dice and characters that were SUBSTANTIALLY better than others. I liked Super Mario Party though, but this is way better.
@@coolioam8137 Exactly, Mario Party is a game where you should be able to pick your favorite character and have fun. Not be forced to pick Bowser so you can move 10 spaces.
@@nintendubs2265
I’m ok with them as an option, but man were they imbalanced. Some just straight up had useless and even worse versions of the basic dice while characters like Wario, Shy Guy, and Boo had like the best ones. Add up having allies with the ally space and you pretty much got a one sided battle.
I love this review not only because it's a great view into the game but also a hilarious view into some of your personal experiences while playing! I'm sure that game with Birdo went totally great LOL
I haven't watched the video yet, but my only complaints are how easy it is to get coins and items. I wish only the winner got coins (or at least that that was an option) and that there was WAY less lucky spaces, and those spaces gave out less coins. I'd also make items cost a bit more (round up to the nearest 5 at least) and get rid of some of the coin games, especially when they get doubled. People can easily get 99 coins in one game of Hammer Drop. I prefer it when having 50 coins is actually hard to do, and not everyone can even afford a star. Other than those things, I basically love everything.
The coin economy in this game is terrible. I also wish banks always took 5 coins
@@ryanfield4926 Yeah same. I don't like that banks only take 3, lucky spaces make sure everyone has too many coins (even when they give items, it means you don't have to pay for items). And Bowser sometimes takes only 12-15 coins. I'd like if it was 20 - 40 depending on the board. Or just 30 in every board to even it out. 20 should be the minimum. When I played Mario Party 1, 2, or 3, I was always able to keep the CPUs below 50 coins so they could never steal my stars. But this game can hand them 50 coins in one turn. I still do love the game though. I just wish they would change a few things.
Mario party had Squid game before the cookie cutting challenge @0:56
Honestly...I'm 30 yo, and i've been waiting for somewhat of a compilation after playing the original Mario Party 3 on the n64.
Even as a teenager...I was able to notice the drop in quality throughout the GameCube versions. The board game plays seemed to move slower, and the mini games were not as great. I did enjoy Mario Party 6 though...I think its use of orbs helped a lot.
This is the game I've wanted for years
5 boards is a joke, its not like it takes a lot of time to model one of these boards, and they already have the original N64 ones as a basis. Should have had at least 8.
Considering Mario Kart can have 48 tracks, 5 boards is terrible
True... Now I hope free dlc for this game
@@justintendo4302 Why you compare it with Mario Kart ? It has a different mechanic than Mario Party. So you can't compare that. But if you compare it with the first Mario Party in N64, I can agree with you
@@SamuelRUclips30 well you can’t directly compare it obviously but they’re still both modern Mario spin off games where Nintendo were able to stuff Mario kart full of tracks yet they weren’t able to with Mario party
Mario Party games typically have like 6 boards, and it's not like all of them are any good. 5 solid boards & 100 minigames is just fine
I'm strongly hopeful that they'll update the game and add Team Match and Duel Match to the main mode along with Waluigi's Island.
Tag match is 2 v 2
@@guyfierimtwi Only in minigame mode
If they add DLC to the game, please at least bring in a board for each GameCube title for Mario Party SuperStars. Here’s an example: Goomba’s Greedy Gala (MP4), Pirate Dream (MP5), Snowflake Lake (MP6), and Pogoda Peak from (MP7)! Please Nintendo add these maps or at the very least any from the GameCube games
Pre ordered it a few hours ago. Excited to play this after work tomorrow
I picked this up a couple days ago. As someone who played the original N64 game (my favs in the series), I was a bit disappointed at the lack of themed character outfits for the MP2 boards, but that's just a minor detail.
Yesterday I spent a delightful afternoon playing online against random opponents. It was a blast, no connectivity issues, flow of the game was great, definitely will look forward to online matches on my days off. Since I'm the only gamer in my household, it made the game that much more enjoyable, playing against real people instead of a computer. :)
I wonder if Alex has ever felt cheated in a game of Mario Party. Wasn’t really clear 🤔
This just looks really good. Wow.
I got into Mario party on the Gamecube, Wii and DS, so the N64 era is before my time.
So this'll be a brand new experience for me!
Same here!
We used to play those in Video Game Club back in High School.
You are for a treat 😹
This is what Mario party the Top 100 should’ve been
The biggest thing that feels off to me is the title. Mario Party SUPERSTARS? Where did that come from? It's almost identical to Super Mario Party, just with the words switched around, so I guarantee some kids will get the wrong game from their parents. I'd name it Mario Party ALLSTARS, which is the name they've been using for all the Mario platformer remakes....
Mario Party World
Mario Party Blast
Mario Party Returns
They could've used one of these titles cuz it sounds more interesting, superstars makes it sound like a sequel to the top 100 or super mario party
If there is dlc they could add costumes at the shop
8/10 - 10 characters and 5 boards.
Now, imagine if we had 12-16 characters and 6-10 boards.
Diddy kong and dry bones are the only characters they could add because everyone else is an npc or sucks (pom pom)
So happy to hear they did a good job with this one!
What really gets me excited is the idea of a sequel based on Mario Parties 4-8. My hopes: the return of Toad, Toadette, Super Duel, and MP7's 8-player system.
And here's a fun idea: that game could connect to a save of this game and import every board and mini-game from it. The result would be the biggest possible collection of stuff from all the classical Mario Party games!
On one hand, I'm happy with going back to basics. On another, as it was mentioned, there was so much missed potential too.
One of the issues I had with it was coins being thrown constantly at the players. You used to have to work for those coins. Now you hit a Lucky Space, Koopa Troopa's little go space, the bank, or an event space and you get showered in coins.
Another issue I had with the game was the VS space. It's a joke most of the time. It almost always lands on 3 or 7 coins. Heaven forbid an actual multiple of 10 (10+). It's a waste of time with few consequences if the higher amounts are not present usually.
One of the more annoying things was the mini-game selections. This is supposed to be the 100 best mini-games, but I guarantee no one voted for part of the games that are pointless. I know there are a ton of remakes but that is no excuse for the lazy picks that were included. Nor an excuse for it always being a 1 vs 3 or free-for-all ALMOST always. Even Super Mario Party did 2 vs 2 more frequently.
The most glaring issue I had was duels. They are coin only... This is better than Mario Party 7 with it's random roll of the reward but still an issue. Someone with 1 or 2 coins dueling is a waste of time for both players. Actually betting stars would be great, even the 50 coins against a star would have been good. It just seems like a glaring issue that Nintendo derped on.
Overall, it is a better Mario Party versus what had been out since Mario Party 8, and I'm glad Nintendo did go back to basics. At the same time, Nintendo needs to figure out who they are trying to cater to with Mario Party. If this game was for the old fans and was their love letter to us, then they somewhat were spot on (somewhat mind you). If it was meant for newer fans, it is alright but a fail. It was a better game than a lot of the recent Mario Party games, to say the least.
I wish there is an option to reduce the number of lucky spaces in Mario Party Superstars. At the moment, it's pointless to win minigames.
There are way too many lucky spaces. I also don’t understand why banks only take 3 for most of the game. Random double coin mini games and getting coins for 2nd and 3rd place are also pretty pointless additions. stacking all of this with really cheap items makes the coin balance pretty terrible in this game
Still hope they’ll bring DLC maps & characters.
Love playing with my friends and having fun game nights! 😊
Honestly enjoyed the weird game modes in super mario party like the rhythm stuff and water rafting stuff.
me every time i start up ssbu: ITS ALL ABOUT DK BABY
5 boards from the original 3 Mario party games is a major improvement over just 1 Star Rush-looking board in Top 100
08:19 "it's all about DK baby".
You damn right.
They really should add different color di/dice and maybe even have different skins/colors for the stars you collect.
Let’s be honest, Super Mario Party may have been just an okay game but nothing was worse than the decision to have everybody moving together in a vehicle like all the Wii Mario Party titles. I’m more excited for this than I have been for a MP title since the GameCube era. Bring it on.
At least there better than what we have between MP9-10.
I played the original trilogy when I was a kid. It's so nostalgic... practically iconic... that seeing this compilation makes me almost want to cry.

Honestly, I don't care if this is mostly the same as the n64 boards, I like those boards. Idk if I'll pick it up right away since other things are coming out soon, but I hope they'll have added at least one more mp3 board by then. Hoping for spiny desert if they do, I loved that board as a kid

So genuinely excited for this. I have friends that never experienced those glory days of Mario Party and this sounds like a great way to do it without having to meet up in person with my N64. Super MP was fun and a step int lol the right direction but it just didn't have enough content. And being able to toggle the OG music is SO GOOD. Those early tracks always bring me to a great time in my life having family over for these games and just making a day out of it
Thank god a good Mario party. It’s been a decade and half since it was last good.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it... except for my joycon controller after tug of war
They dont have the Shy guy event sadly hopefully they add that and more boards and games
First mario party game I’ve bought since mp8 and im very happy with my purchase.
The only complaint is they should have fixed the item economy but other than that it’s pretty good.
If your friendship survived a mario party board, it’s a very strong bond
Fun fact: I'm always so pleased when it's Alex on Nintendo Life-videoes because it makes me so happy to be a lovely people. We generally need more "calling people lovely" in life :) Great video, can't wait to play Mario Party =D
Look, We have not had a good enough Mario Party game in too long to consider this "too safe". So many of the modern games have been ruined by said gimmicks time and time again. I'm all for the throwback game being an actual throwback game.
I'm literally so obsessed by how DK's gesture animation matches the music so well at 0:23 🙆♂️
Honestly I don't quite get a part of that review ,you said Nintendo listend and gave you old school mario party like people have been wanting but then complains that they didn't add anything new which is what they were doing but people didn't like ,now I'm not a massive fan of mario party games but make your minds up what you want
I mean he was pretty specific about it. He didn't like the gimmicks that forced motion control over button inputs or fundamentally changed Mario Party's base gameplay formula of running around a board to grab stars, but he did like when they layered mechanics **on top** of that base formula to add complexity and strategy, like the character-specific dice blocks and allies from Super Mario Party, and he's expressing some moderate disappointment that there are no such mechanics here when they worked so well in the previous game.
@@pennyfarting But that's my point people moaning about not having stuff so Nintendo adds things then they don't like them then moan when they took something away or didn't add something nobody is ever pleased
To me I look at this game like a renew of the franchise. I think it was in trouble after the last game. So now they start with pure goodness and maybe make no brainer smart additions from here and if they mess with things too much make them optional. But it’s smart to start here with choices but still purely the game people love.
You're missing exactly my point. The elements Alex didn't like weren't *additions*, they were *alterations*. They substituted base elements of gameplay for something completely different. Alex likes the *additions*, which in contrast, DO NOT replace fundamental elements of gameplay but are merely layered on top of the formula of the first six games. The "car formula" in Mario Party 9 and 10 was an alteration. The character dice blocks and allies in Super Mario Party were additions.
@@pennyfarting Dude stoped caring hours ago now, enjoy the game don't enjoy the game
My opinion: it's a step in the right direction, but it still has some issues that make it...okay. It's better than mp1,4 and maybe 5
Big agree, coin economy sucks bad in this game
Only complaint? No Western land from MP2. Best map hands down. That song, the gates, the train, the cowboy hats..
Western Land was also my most wanted board. But Horror Land more than makes it up for me.
Give me spiny desert
From someone who has played most of the games in the series and just recently bought this one, it’s worth it. One of the best entries in the entire series tbh. Plays super smooth, quality of life has never been better and I think I’ve replayed a mini-game 1 time in 5 whole games.
The people saying this should be DLC for SMP are nuts. I understand the disappointment with SMP but this game is completely different and wouldn’t even make sense as DLC.
With that being said my biggest disappointment is lack of team play. My girlfriend and I, and even my friends and I, prefer to be on a team since it isn’t exactly fun to fuck each other over
Great review! Just wondering is there any unlock-able characters cause the roster looks small compared to super
I got this game and now I always have people to play with, never before have you been able to jump online and play with randoms. I’ll never be lonely again and can always play one of my favorite games with real people. :) this entry was fantastic!! I hope they add more characters and boards but all and all I’m thrilled
I kind of wish we had all the boards from the n64 era. Nevertheless the minigame selection looks 👌
Other than Tug of War, I’ve had fun with all of the mini games I’ve played so far.
I will buy ALL the DLC.
It is kinda petty but part of the reason I loved MP2 was the cute outfits the characters wore depending on the map...I wish they would wear the map specific costumes for the MP2 maps.
What are you on about? Peach's birthday cake might look simple but quickly turns into a bloodbath between the players over who steals more stars from the others. Also makes the custom dice actually useful.
We still have no choice to just not play a specific mini game? I just want Tug O War to be deleted from history.
I'm definitely getting this game and depending on how much it sells I'm sure they will add more stages as DLC and extras.
Needs more boards, characters, personal dice and buddies
Only 30 turns max and 5 boards, two terrible decisions not to mention no confirmed DLC = I stick to the fantastic Mario party 5 until they stop being lazy with these games
I'm gonna miss Bowser and Bowser Jr., but I'm sooooooo excited for this
I'm so upset that Nintendo didn't hype up this game at all compared to skyward sword and metroid dread 😢
it will sell well it has Mario in the title
Don't ask for them to change anything. Make it old, that's what we want
It’s a crime Diddy Kong isn’t a regular cast member among these spin-offs, let alone the rest of the DKC cast. I thought with New Donk City and the reintroduction of Pauline that the Mario series would more heavily incorporate more DK elements moving forward instead of just having DK himself in most instances
