This game felt like it was DESTINED to have DLC or at least be the ultimate game to build more and more content on with the Expansion Pak for Nintendo Switch online. In that sense, you nailed it.
This game deserved more content and what I missed the most was the lack of classic boards and to be more specific the lack of the original final boards, especially Bowser Land or Waluig's Island
You're right but consider it a way to play old mini-games in a permanent form (the NSO after a set amount of time they will erase the save data but if you renew it you can extend it, I know it's an offensive but for me saving some photo and videos until the definitive expire is the minimum)
My friends and I have been saying the same thing. The product we got had so few levels and so little customization (can't even pick which Bonus Stars to turn on or off, and just two Bonus Stars feels too few) that it seemed _perfect_ for free or even paid DLC updates. The game is a lot of fun, but it is feature-poor and it always felt like it was _designed_ to receive updates. Alas. Maybe at this point they're focusing on a sequel? But it would be so much better to be able to play double the content in a single game rather than having two segregated playing experiences, forcing you to switch carts when you wanna play a different map, and precluding the ability to add more Bonus Stars to the original
It's a shame because it was such a fun novelty for a while, and could have kept being so until it became the ULTIMATE Mario Party experience. Hopefully Nintendo picks up on this idea again some time in the future.

That's true, I could've probably added another couple minutes just talking about single player ideas. Just goes to show how much more this game could have going for it.
The closest reason I can think of why this game never got any DLC is that ever since Nintendo Cube (formerly NDCube) has largely been sticking to a schedule for Mario Party games, releasing a new one on consoles every three years and there’s always the chance that the pandemic did play a part in Superstars’ development despite it not causing any delays, and Nintendo Cube were likely asked to move onto Everyone 1-2 Switch and Mario Party Jamboree. That’s mostly just what I have noticed.

@@imaminordw obviously franchises, that sell good, will get new entries. But first of all, we are talking about DLC here, which again, only MK8 got post launch updates without it being announced before or close after release. Secondly, by Wii Sports DLC wasn't even a possibility. And thirdly, the problem with DLC is, that it obviously needs developers to make it, which then means, they are missing to work on the next game.
I would honestly call this game one of the absolute best Mario Party games if it just had more content 5 boards is way too little. I’m still sad that it’s never been updated. A new board introduced in the same way as a new Smash Bros fighter would have been a great way to keep people interested
Nintendo hates letting players have a gameplay experience that wasn't hand-crafted by Nintendo. Look at how much they seethe about Smash Bros being played competitively despite being designed as a casual game to play with your friends
I had a complete head cannon on the perfect version of Superstars; in terms of boards: The release of the game would have two boards from each N64 MP game. MP1: Mario’s Rainbow Castle, Peach’s Birthday Cake MP2: Western Land, Horror Land MP3: Woody Woods, Waluigi’s Island. And then there would be a 4 month wait. After 4 months go by, Superstars gets free dlc every single month. For the next 6 months, Mario Party would be getting 1 new board, and 10 new mini games per month. MP4: Goomba’s Greedy Gala MP5: Pirate Dream MP6: Fair Square MP7: Neon Heights MP8: Koopa’s Tycoon Town And the last month will have a surprise release of Bowser’s Pinball; with the collection of 20 DS mini games.
I feel like it's a crime that Toad wasn't in the playable roster despite having been a mainstay since 5, and there should've been some DS and Island Tour games (the latter is also a flaw of Top 100, but still). If I had to pick DLC characters, I'd go with the aforementioned Toad, Toadette, Pauline, Diddy Kong, maybe Prince Florian for that sweet Wonder promo, and since she deserves a comeback, Captain Syrup (WarioWare Move It and Princess Peach Showtime are also very acceptable options for said comeback).
I absolutely love this game and it might be my favorite Mario Party game if not top 3, but it's very disappointing we're probably never getting DLC for this game, which is a shame because I always like playing this game and want more from this game

Wasted potential is a massive understatement. The foundation itself is good, but but the game feels like a slightly generous demo. That you get to play a bit before the full games release.
I feel like western land and marios rainbow castle were meant to be in mario party superstars dlc but then nintendo thought that it would be better if they started a new game.

Customization is the obvious way to improve Mario party. It’s frustrating because it just seems like a no brainer to allow rule, minigame, and item customization. The ultimate thing I would want is a board maker side mode
Yeah it's simple stuff like this that you'd think people working for months on a product partially meant to mine nostalgia would have come up with themselves. Was development super tight on this title? Did the people working on it not have passion for Mario Party? Were they told to hold content for future releases? It's a little bizarre, to be honest
That would not be good. Then you'd never play the mini-games that you dislike or are bad at, which would take away the difficulty/randomnes. Which is the essence of Mario Party. You kinda need bad minigames, to balance it. So when you get the minigames you like, it feels more satisfying to play them. Also there is the minigame mode already, where you can play all the minigames you want. It would completely unbalance the game if you can pick the minigames in a board match.
I assumed it was going to get Superstars sequels, each with a few boards, and other classic minigames. I remember at one point even making my own list of 100 minigames, and a selection of boards from all of Mario Party 1-8. But will we ever get it? What's even the plan with the next Mario Party? Who knows at this point...
They definitely have enough content to make a Mario Party Superstars 2 but it'd feel weird to not include all the classic mini-games brought back in Superstars and it'd also feel kind of pointless for a whole new game if they just brought most of the mini-games back. Unless they just makes something brand new I'm really not sure what they're plan is.

The roster is one thing I can excuse given the nature of the game. Several characters that could be playable have roles in the minigames and the boards themselves. THAT SAID, there's work arounds. Some characters like Pauline aren't in the game but it seems they want to limit themselves to characters that already appeared in entries 1 through 10. And remember when the classic games introduced pink Boos so Boo can be playable? Could have done the same and then some, like Toadsworth handing out stars so Toadette can join
@@MrDrBoi As much as people do want Koopa Kid back, but he was replaced by Bowser Jr and it's going to stay that way. Plus, the different colored Koopa Kids were also another cool thing about them. If Nintendo does decide to include the Koopalings within a future Mario Party game, their appearances would be the equivalent of replacing the different colored Koopa Kids.
This game is way better than the Top 100. But there are a few things I don’t like about this game. 1. Why do they keep bringing back Tug O’ War? 2. Only 10 characters. 3. Mini game-wise, they gave some games too much love and others not enough
Yeah i feel Superstars could've added more. My niece loves to play the Series with me. But there were times I'd get bored with it cuz we'd already done all the mini games and boards over and over. She's excited to play the upcoming Jamboree with me, and we'll have extra boards and mini-games for us to play
I know this is late, but I’m baffled this game didn’t do anything from Mario Party DS. That’s one of the best games in the series and got nothing. I know it might be hard to port over with the DS controls but there has to be SOME mini games that can be ported over with new controls
The fact that Mario Party DS, on an underpowered handheld, has MORE content than both SMP and MPS is insane! A few examples: -5 boards, but also 1v1 and 2v2 mode -rocket rascals, score shuffle (on top of the regular minigame modes) -pen pals and desert duels -five goddamn boss battles
I'm so mixed with Superstars because I was obsessed with it when it came out. It was very replayable, and I love Mario Party. I don't love Peach's Birthday Cake and Woody Woods, but hey there's Space Land and Horror Land! We played it a ton. And then as time went on, I started getting bored and kept thinking "where is the dlc?". I own almost all the Mario Party games and Superstars was very convenient because we almost always have our switch set up, so we don't have to pull out the N64 or GameCube to play it. Now I'd rather just set up those consoles than have to play Superstars, which is super dry and kinda boring now.
I couldn't agree more. It feels like Nintendo will give us the bare minimum when it comes to Mario Party and any of the mario sports games on the switch. I can't help but feel like it's so they can bundle together 4 or 5 more past stages and some unseen mini games in another mario party collection so they can sell it back to us at full price.
Great video! Quick Question though, have you played the Coinathlon mode from Mario Party Star Rush? While it's not exactly what you wanted it is a mode about getting the most coins possible so I would say maybe check it out if you're interested

This game's item system/meta sucks and feels like the ndcube devs didnt even play the hudson soft trilogy. Using the mario party 2 system of same items but more get added at the halfway point is ridiculous because now we have a 3 item slot system. Oh and the item shop's items are not based on placement like almost EVERY OTHER MARIO PARTY GAME! Creating huge leads for first place with access to golden pipes and removing over HALF THE ITEMS FROM 3 FROM THE SHOPS

So guess what Nintendo did? Took another board from Mario Party and Mario Party 2 and are putting those in along with 5 new boards into their new Mario Party game that's said to release in October
This is definitely a great video to talk about the missed potential with Superstars. Initially, when this game was announced back in June 2021, I was so hyped for this game like most fans would because it was refreshing to see MP truly go back to its roots, and I had my fun with it when I got the game months before it. However, overtime, I grown more and more stale with the game because it just not fun replaying the same party mode with the same 5 boards we grown attach to with no additional content. And yeah, when MP1 has more boards than Superstars, that’s kinda embarrassing don’t you think. Also, I’mma go on a limb here, and say that MT Mini-games is a complete joke of a mode, and garbage because the modes that are presented here are either, boring, repetitive, or just pointless to add and offer little to no variety in content to go along with the main party mode. The 100 minigames while an improvement choices over Top 100; still have some choices were it doesn’t feel like it belongs in this game, while some others got unnecessary changes compared to the O.Gs that it makes them inferior to play on. This game really needed the DLC to be a potential good game that brings back to why we love this series since the beginning, and the fact it went on for 2 years with none of it is pretty disappointing. Nowadays, all I see in Superstars is potential, but wasted and at best, it boils down to an okay experience. I definitely had my fun when it was new, but I come to realized how stale it has become over the years. 6/10 game

Yeah, I agree, Marioparty Super Stars is just an empty shell, of what it could have been and what it should have been. I'm especially disappointed because there are only 3 minigames from Marioparty 8, my favorite one.

I really hope it goes like Mario Kart 8DX and they just randomly begin releasing dlc for it out of nowhere, i love this game so much but after a while 5 boards gets very stale, they're not even the best picks they could've gone for (besides Horror Land) imo. I would literally kill for Bowser Land, Chilly Waters, Spiny Desert, Waluigi Island, Western Land, Mario's Rainbow Castle and/or Luigi's Engine Room, there was many great boards to choose from for DLC (and that's only from N64, imagine if they picked from GC titles too) Not to mention characters, while i know they don't matter too much since they're merely cosmetic in this game, i would've loved to see Pauline debut on Mario Party here for example, Diddy deserved to come back too. Also a few more minigames would be nice, mainly from GC and Wii/Wii U, there's such a small ammount of those considering there was many great ones to choose from, and i know MP3 was overrepresented but Ridiculous Relay really deserved to be here (it was meant to be on Top 100 and that way we'd have the entire minigame OST from MP3 remade lmao) Hopefully the "Nintendo Direct DLC hype" void that MK8DX is gonna leave gets filled with Mario Party DLC, but Nintendo probably won't see it as "hype" considering it's nowhere near the sales of MK8 and Smash...
Still with no DLC and the stupid inclusion of Piranha's Pursuit (the worst minigame in the game) Superstars is still one of the best MP games out there, hard to beat
It's a shame because I imagine Mario's Rainbow Castle and Western Land might've been DLC boards that they decided to just save for Jamboree instead, which I am looking forward to. Also I hate Piranha Pursuit too lol
The one thing I don’t care about is more characters, I just want more boards and mini games. I don’t understand the odd number of boards when they pulled 2 boards from each game except 3. Who said, let’s stop at 5 and ignore math. Another gripe is not being able to toggle CPUs or add players mid game. Like if someone has to leave mid game you can just turn them onto a cpu

Honestly i wanna see faire square or koopa tycoon town make a return. Coins can be obtain so easliy due to the lucky spaces. If they brought back one of these maps then really it can change up the gameplay and a lot of back amd fourth.

This game had everything to be THE BEST Mario Party with Updates/DLC that adds more and more content like the BCP of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, but it's as if NDCUBE doesn't fully understand it, also after its failure with Everybody 1 2 Switch , it would be the perfect time to earn resources
I've frequently found myself thinking that MP: Superstars needs DLC. I'd easily pay like ~$10 for some new boards. Taking old boards and updating their graphics would take almost no effort on Nintendo's part. I honestly think Nintendo has lost their passion for Mario Party after like MP 8/9. MP 10 was a travesty and we all know it. I think comparing MP to Smash is a bit unfair. Although I understand where you are coming from, Nintendo has never been as interested in MP as Smash and MP doesn't have Masahiro Sakurai behind it. Sakurai is an intensely passionate developer/designer.
All they need to do for me is add more worlds and id see myself buying it like cod or something new game modes is always nice but there’s never enough to keep the continuity

I’ve done a LOT of videos on this same topic. In fact, I launched this channel just to talk about this game needing sequels and DLC, so I was about to type a lot of responses, but then I said fuck it. If you want more, you can just go watch my vids lol But I do have two things I want to say. DLC still has a chance to be announced at the February direct as the replacement for Mario Kart 8 Booster Course Pass, and that might be why it’s taken so long to release. Also, the reason they likely didn’t include boards from other Mario Parties is because they played very differently. Cario Party, motion controls, the capsule system, and double/ cursed dice being in the form of mini-mega mushrooms.
I think the main problem with this game isn't what it has.. but what it DOESN'T have. It's a good time and I enjoy playing it with friends, but it's hard to say it didn't deserve so much more. Disappointing, to say the least.
yeah... this game seemed like they would somewhat dip their toes into either DLC or updates. like they could easily do "Mario party X" packs. the few options they had felt like it was gonna step in that direction. (skill pack minigames, n64 minigames pack, etc). would love to have DS, 3DS titles and even Super Mario Party minigames be added. Alas unless they do a Superstars upgrade for Switch 2.... I dont think they will add any dlc 😢
Yeah. I can see why. Nintendo seems to have an issue that they don't really know fanservice very well. They tend to not think about what the fans want, only what they need. Say what you want about Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, but it did fanservice VERY right, even if the execution was sloppy. If you want a proper execution of fanservice, look up Kirby Star Allies. 6:20 you know something's up when a Party game many deemed to be flawed did something right.
I feel having the entire original trilogy on Switch Online has made this game somewhat irrelevant they might not have the fancy graphics, but theres more then enough content in those games to keep people happy
In Mario party superstars they could’ve added more characters to it but they decided to make characters like bowser Junior and shy guy a part of the mechanics and koopa was guiding them in the start but they could’ve just gave it to toad from the start and added koopa to the players list

I honestly like the cast as is in the game. I was getting tired of all the side characters in Mario Kart and the last few Mario Party games. It’s weird having Monty mole be a selectable character. Like who invited you to the party? 😂 the only one I’d add back is Boo. I do feel like they could add new boards.. hopefully they still will
The thing that may be the reason is that unlike smash ultimate or MK8, which are mainline games, Superstars is a Mario Party Spinoff and that is why probably why
Maybe it will have more than 5 boards, because there are more gamecube games than 64 games and maybe more characters as well (Diddy Kong, Dry Bones, Spike, etc.)
I’m really disappointed mostly in the boards. To me the rest of the game is PERFECT. I would predict if even if there were going to be DLC The boards I would chose are one from each of the original n64 games 1: Mario’s rainbow castle (MP1) This one is just a really fun solid one, plus it would balance out the mp1 style boards Western Land (mp2) Just a really fun classic board. Plus there is no desert themed board in the game. Chilly waters (MP3) Another really fun simple board, probably the best one from 3. There’s gotta be a snow themed board in the mix! To balance out the mp3 boards though, you could switch western land with Spiny desert from 3

Absolutely agree, there's no reason to split the experience across two titles when you could just expand on this one.

Nintendo hates letting players have a gameplay experience that wasn't hand-crafted by Nintendo. Look at how much they seethe about Smash Bros being played competitively despite being designed as a casual game to play with your friends
I had a complete head cannon on the perfect version of Superstars; in terms of boards:
The release of the game would have two boards from each N64 MP game.
MP1: Mario’s Rainbow Castle, Peach’s Birthday Cake
MP2: Western Land, Horror Land
MP3: Woody Woods, Waluigi’s Island.
And then there would be a 4 month wait. After 4 months go by, Superstars gets free dlc every single month. For the next 6 months, Mario Party would be getting 1 new board, and 10 new mini games per month.
MP4: Goomba’s Greedy Gala
MP5: Pirate Dream
MP6: Fair Square
MP7: Neon Heights
MP8: Koopa’s Tycoon Town
And the last month will have a surprise release of Bowser’s Pinball; with the collection of 20 DS mini games.
I wish your head cannon was reality!
For mp8 they could also have the haunted mansion because it would look so cool with updated graphics

I feel like it's a crime that Toad wasn't in the playable roster despite having been a mainstay since 5, and there should've been some DS and Island Tour games (the latter is also a flaw of Top 100, but still). If I had to pick DLC characters, I'd go with the aforementioned Toad, Toadette, Pauline, Diddy Kong, maybe Prince Florian for that sweet Wonder promo, and since she deserves a comeback, Captain Syrup (WarioWare Move It and Princess Peach Showtime are also very acceptable options for said comeback).
Agreed, not having Toad be playable just feels wrong at this point.
I absolutely love this game and it might be my favorite Mario Party game if not top 3, but it's very disappointing we're probably never getting DLC for this game, which is a shame because I always like playing this game and want more from this game

Wasted potential is a massive understatement. The foundation itself is good, but but the game feels like a slightly generous demo. That you get to play a bit before the full games release.
I feel like western land and marios rainbow castle were meant to be in mario party superstars dlc but then nintendo thought that it would be better if they started a new game.

Honestly, even with the lack of DLC, this is still my new favorite Mario Party game (that spot previously went to Mario Party DS)

Customization is the obvious way to improve Mario party. It’s frustrating because it just seems like a no brainer to allow rule, minigame, and item customization. The ultimate thing I would want is a board maker side mode

Yeah it's simple stuff like this that you'd think people working for months on a product partially meant to mine nostalgia would have come up with themselves. That would not be good. Then you'd never play the mini-games that you dislike or are bad at, which would take away the difficulty/randomnes. Which is the essence of Mario Party. You kinda need bad minigames, to balance it. So when you get the minigames you like, it feels more satisfying to play them. Also there is the minigame mode already, where you can play all the minigames you want. It would completely unbalance the game if you can pick the minigames in a board match.

I remember at one point even making my own list of 100 minigames, and a selection of boards from all of Mario Party 1-8.
But will we ever get it? What's even the plan with the next Mario Party? Who knows at this point...
They definitely have enough content to make a Mario Party Superstars 2 but it'd feel weird to not include all the classic mini-games brought back in Superstars and it'd also feel kind of pointless for a whole new game if they just brought most of the mini-games back. Unless they just makes something brand new I'm really not sure what they're plan is.
I know 3 was added to NSO back in October but following that up with Superstars DLC just makes sense
Why are we assuming games sale numbers have any influence on DLC for Nintendo? If a game will get DLC is decided before the game is even released, unless you are MK8.

The roster is one thing I can excuse given the nature of the game. Several characters that could be playable have roles in the minigames and the boards themselves.
THAT SAID, there's work arounds. Some characters like Pauline aren't in the game but it seems they want to limit themselves to characters that already appeared in entries 1 through 10.
And remember when the classic games introduced pink Boos so Boo can be playable? Could have done the same and then some, like Toadsworth handing out stars so Toadette can join

@@MrDrBoi As much as people do want Koopa Kid back, but he was replaced by Bowser Jr and it's going to stay that way. Plus, the different colored Koopa Kids were also another cool thing about them.
If Nintendo does decide to include the Koopalings within a future Mario Party game, their appearances would be the equivalent of replacing the different colored Koopa Kids.
I agree there should have been more game boards. Had I gotten the game I would’ve been bored with just the boards the game originally started with.
This game is way better than the Top 100. But there are a few things I don’t like about this game.
1. Why do they keep bringing back Tug O’ War?
2. Only 10 characters.
3. Mini game-wise, they gave some games too much love and others not enough

Yeah i feel Superstars could've added more. My niece loves to play the Series with me. But there were times I'd get bored with it cuz we'd already done all the mini games and boards over and over. She's excited to play the upcoming Jamboree with me, and we'll have extra boards and mini-games for us to play
I know this is late, but I’m baffled this game didn’t do anything from Mario Party DS. That’s one of the best games in the series and got nothing. I know it might be hard to port over with the DS controls but there has to be SOME mini games that can be ported over with new controls
The fact that Mario Party DS, on an underpowered handheld, has MORE content than both SMP and MPS is insane!
A few examples:
-5 boards, but also 1v1 and 2v2 mode
-rocket rascals, score shuffle (on top of the regular minigame modes)
-pen pals and desert duels
-five goddamn boss battles
I miss when Hudson was the developer they always packed the games with a ton of content can't say the same about NDCube

I'm so mixed with Superstars because I was obsessed with it when it came out. It was very replayable, and I love Mario Party. I don't love Peach's Birthday Cake and Woody Woods, but hey there's Space Land and Horror Land! We played it a ton. And then as time went on, I started getting bored and kept thinking "where is the dlc?". I own almost all the Mario Party games and Superstars was very convenient because we almost always have our switch set up, so we don't have to pull out the N64 or GameCube to play it. Now I'd rather just set up those consoles than have to play Superstars, which is super dry and kinda boring now.
That was me at first when it got announced but when it came out I was disappointed lol
I couldn't agree more. It feels like Nintendo will give us the bare minimum when it comes to Mario Party and any of the mario sports games on the switch. I can't help but feel like it's so they can bundle together 4 or 5 more past stages and some unseen mini games in another mario party collection so they can sell it back to us at full price.
A Mario Party Maker could be cool. Let the fans design boards and even some mini games while including assets and Nintendo mini games.
Great video! Quick Question though, have you played the Coinathlon mode from Mario Party Star Rush? While it's not exactly what you wanted it is a mode about getting the most coins possible so I would say maybe check it out if you're interested

This game's item system/meta sucks and feels like the ndcube devs didnt even play the hudson soft trilogy. Using the mario party 2 system of same items but more get added at the halfway point is ridiculous because now we have a 3 item slot system. Oh and the item shop's items are not based on placement like almost EVERY OTHER MARIO PARTY GAME! Creating huge leads for first place with access to golden pipes and removing over HALF THE ITEMS FROM 3 FROM THE SHOPS

So guess what Nintendo did? Took another board from Mario Party and Mario Party 2 and are putting those in along with 5 new boards into their new Mario Party game that's said to release in October
This is definitely a great video to talk about the missed potential with Superstars. Initially, when this game was announced back in June 2021, I was so hyped for this game like most fans would because it was refreshing to see MP truly go back to its roots, and I had my fun with it when I got the game months before it. However, overtime, I grown more and more stale with the game because it just not fun replaying the same party mode with the same 5 boards we grown attach to with no additional content. And yeah, when MP1 has more boards than Superstars, that’s kinda embarrassing don’t you think.
Also, I’mma go on a limb here, and say that MT Mini-games is a complete joke of a mode, and garbage because the modes that are presented here are either, boring, repetitive, or just pointless to add and offer little to no variety in content to go along with the main party mode. The 100 minigames while an improvement choices over Top 100; still have some choices were it doesn’t feel like it belongs in this game, while some others got unnecessary changes compared to the O.Gs that it makes them inferior to play on.
This game really needed the DLC to be a potential good game that brings back to why we love this series since the beginning, and the fact it went on for 2 years with none of it is pretty disappointing. Nowadays, all I see in Superstars is potential, but wasted and at best, it boils down to an okay experience. I definitely had my fun when it was new, but I come to realized how stale it has become over the years. 6/10 game

I'm especially disappointed because there are only 3 minigames from Marioparty 8, my favorite one.
I would have easily gave them $20 if they had two new boards with a couple new mini games

I really hope it goes like Mario Kart 8DX and they just randomly begin releasing dlc for it out of nowhere, i love this game so much but after a while 5 boards gets very stale, they're not even the best picks they could've gone for (besides Horror Land) imo.
I would literally kill for Bowser Land, Chilly Waters, Spiny Desert, Waluigi Island, Western Land, Mario's Rainbow Castle and/or Luigi's Engine Room, there was many great boards to choose from for DLC (and that's only from N64, imagine if they picked from GC titles too)
Not to mention characters, while i know they don't matter too much since they're merely cosmetic in this game, i would've loved to see Pauline debut on Mario Party here for example, Diddy deserved to come back too.
Also a few more minigames would be nice, mainly from GC and Wii/Wii U, there's such a small ammount of those considering there was many great ones to choose from, and i know MP3 was overrepresented but Ridiculous Relay really deserved to be here (it was meant to be on Top 100 and that way we'd have the entire minigame OST from MP3 remade lmao)
Hopefully the "Nintendo Direct DLC hype" void that MK8DX is gonna leave gets filled with Mario Party DLC, but Nintendo probably won't see it as "hype" considering it's nowhere near the sales of MK8 and Smash...
Still with no DLC and the stupid inclusion of Piranha's Pursuit (the worst minigame in the game) Superstars is still one of the best MP games out there, hard to beat
It's a shame because I imagine Mario's Rainbow Castle and Western Land might've been DLC boards that they decided to just save for Jamboree instead, which I am looking forward to. Also I hate Piranha Pursuit too lol

Who said, let’s stop at 5 and ignore math. Another gripe is not being able to toggle CPUs or add players mid game. Like if someone has to leave mid game you can just turn them onto a cpu

Honestly i wanna see faire square or koopa tycoon town make a return. Coins can be obtain so easliy due to the lucky spaces. If they brought back one of these maps then really it can change up the gameplay and a lot of back amd fourth.

This game had everything to be THE BEST Mario Party with Updates/DLC that adds more and more content like the BCP of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, but it's as if NDCUBE doesn't fully understand it, also after its failure with Everybody 1 2 Switch , it would be the perfect time to earn resources

My friends and I mainly play Horror Land and sometimes Space Land too. Even just one more good board would do wonders for this game.
I've frequently found myself thinking that MP: Superstars needs DLC. I'd easily pay like ~$10 for some new boards. Taking old boards and updating their graphics would take almost no effort on Nintendo's part. I honestly think Nintendo has lost their passion for Mario Party after like MP 8/9. MP 10 was a travesty and we all know it.
I think comparing MP to Smash is a bit unfair. Although I understand where you are coming from, Nintendo has never been as interested in MP as Smash and MP doesn't have Masahiro Sakurai behind it. Sakurai is an intensely passionate developer/designer.
All they need to do for me is add more worlds and id see myself buying it like cod or something new game modes is always nice but there’s never enough to keep the continuity

I’ve done a LOT of videos on this same topic. In fact, I launched this channel just to talk about this game needing sequels and DLC, so I was about to type a lot of responses, but then I said fuck it. If you want more, you can just go watch my vids lol
But I do have two things I want to say.
DLC still has a chance to be announced at the February direct as the replacement for Mario Kart 8 Booster Course Pass, and that might be why it’s taken so long to release.
Also, the reason they likely didn’t include boards from other Mario Parties is because they played very differently. Cario Party, motion controls, the capsule system, and double/ cursed dice being in the form of mini-mega mushrooms.
I'll have to check them out but I hope you're right about the February direct!

I think the main problem with this game isn't what it has.. but what it DOESN'T have. It's a good time and I enjoy playing it with friends, but it's hard to say it didn't deserve so much more. Disappointing, to say the least.
yeah... this game seemed like they would somewhat dip their toes into either DLC or updates.
like they could easily do "Mario party X" packs. the few options they had felt like it was gonna step in that direction. (skill pack minigames, n64 minigames pack, etc). would love to have DS, 3DS titles and even Super Mario Party minigames be added.
Alas unless they do a Superstars upgrade for Switch 2.... I dont think they will add any dlc 😢

Nintendo seems to have an issue that they don't really know fanservice very well. They tend to not think about what the fans want, only what they need.
Say what you want about Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, but it did fanservice VERY right, even if the execution was sloppy.
If you want a proper execution of fanservice, look up Kirby Star Allies.

I feel having the entire original trilogy on Switch Online has made this game somewhat irrelevant they might not have the fancy graphics, but theres more then enough content in those games to keep people happy

In Mario party superstars they could’ve added more characters to it but they decided to make characters like bowser Junior and shy guy a part of the mechanics and koopa was guiding them in the start but they could’ve just gave it to toad from the start and added koopa to the players list

Honestly, I think a sequel to Superstars, that mostly focuses on the Gamecube games (incl. Boards), is more likely than DLC
Maybe it will have more than 5 boards, because there are more gamecube games than 64 games and maybe more characters as well (Diddy Kong, Dry Bones, Spike, etc.)
I’m really disappointed mostly in the boards. To me the rest of the game is PERFECT.

This one is just a really fun solid one, plus it would balance out the mp1 style boards
Western Land (mp2)
Just a really fun classic board. Plus there is no desert themed board in the game.
Chilly waters (MP3)
Another really fun simple board, probably the best one from 3. There’s gotta be a snow themed board in the mix!
To balance out the mp3 boards though, you could switch western land with Spiny desert from 3
honestly now that all 3 N64 games are on the NSO following that up with DLC for this game just makes the most sense
