I was just in the guitar shop today in East Vancouver where the owners of Union pedals run their business... fab staff and a really stellar variety of vintage gear in there...
Nice to see Terry Pratchett can rock a Les Paul.
LMAO! NICE!!! (We miss you Sir Terry )
But... Sir Terry looked good in a hat...
RIP
Rob looking more like Inspector Gadget by the week.
Ellio1862 He does have Go-go- gadget fingers
Ha ha literally lol
The most natural moment ever when Lee starts asking about the lack of pick.
Love it.
I was watching this just because I like listening to Rob and Lee while in another tab I was going through my email, but I heard one of the pedals that instantly caught my attention and I switched back over to see which one it was. I now have a Union Swindle on my shopping list. Very rarely do I hear a drive/fuzz that I think stands out in a way I like, but (even though I primarily play metal) I absolutely loved that Swindle.
always great funny editing! thank you
You are sounding really good and bluesy rob. It's difficult to break old habits! Good job
The More pedal that rob is playing should be the last effect in line that is feeding the input of the tube amp. A high DB boost pedal, running into another pedal like in the video, depending on the amount of boost you have set, will just be clip by the next pedal/buffer in the signal chain, at it's input, thus defeating the high amount of boost you may have set.
that style of boost running straight into a tube amp can really make the amp sing, and what it's really designed to do.
Best opening jam I’ve heard from you guys truly loved it
Great to see Rob back. He seems very chilled out and it shows in his playing. A new direction for Chappers?
man, bluesy chappers is a fine specimen of musician
Love the first 2 min jamming, specially the bluesy rhythm with the Tone Druid. I want so much to learn that riff, I'm watching part of the video over and over again. lol
I literally just keep watching these to see how much the captain is improving after his lessons
You can get a big muff in a concrete block for only $500 on reverb!
That Les Paul suits your new blues thing, Rob.
nice tones guys robs playing is so much better without all the shredding
Please put a Truss Rod cover on that Les Paul. It looks so wrong without one :D
HerrMeier007
It’s Rock n Roll
First Pete cracks the finish, now he's removed the truss rod, very reliccy
Who gives a 🐀💨. Last I checked it's his guitar, pretty sure it doesn't concern us. However I realize this is why some people breath to 💩 everywhere.
I agree, it's a bit like seeing your dad with no pants on. Like, it's still your dad, but put some pants on ya fuckin weirdo.
Stan Lee - I'd make the comment about the sock and picture of a girl you never met that should come with a reilc, but they'll just block me.
Is the pedal in the middle wireless ?
venom663 i think that one is wireless to the air guitar
Great playing guys! Right up my street!!! Captains lessons are really shining though and rob, blues looks much better on you!!!! 🤘🏼
Union makes specialty pedals for Jack White (Bumblebuzz, etc). Super high quality handwired/handmade.. hence price. That first pedal Rob played sounded incredible and that Druid was crazy good.
Together again, good stuff! Like Rob “blues man”
I'd buy a more if it wasn't 300 quid for a bit of crunch button
It was very confusing, was Rob using the Snake Oil pedal all the time?
Yeah, they should disclose that or show a picture at the beginning on pedal demos.
@@samringwald He said that like 6 minutes into the video or something.
@@SocksworthRiffs I don't think it's any kind of vast conspiracy to defraud us, I just think pedals should be demoed without other pedals behind the scenes.
@@samringwald oh yeah I was just mentioning that at least he said something very early on haha
@@SocksworthRiffs Right on. I suspect that the folks from Andertons are happy this isn't about a hat.
What was that strat that the Captain was playing at the end of the video??? Ive seen it in the background but never seen them play it before!
"union tube and transistor" pedals. It's nice to see these have a good demo now. Wish they could demo the Tzar Bomba.
4:34 WOW THAT IS A REALLY CLEAN TONE FOR ROB THE HAT HAS CHANGED HIM.
Love the Captain's playing!
Nice opening jam. Thank you, gentleman.
Hats off for Chappers! I mean it... take off the hat. :-)
I like it
Hat is ridiculous. It's not the 1930s. plus it's rude for a gentleman to wear a hat indoors 😉
Yes, the hat's too smart for the clothes. If you want to wear the bluesman hat you need the bluesman suit, but even then it's the wrong hat - sort of a fat pimp in a shell suit playing holiday camp twelve bars for the grannies. He should wear a onesy and a bobble hat.
@@mrbarbelbarbello2332 I don't think Rob gives a fuck about your opinion :)
It matches the salt and pepper in his beard
The cap's playing is really getting better!
"Snuck that in." I like stacking up a couple of gain pedals at practically unity or just a little bit more for the compression.
I can tell he likes those pedals because the captain has played with more freedom and a slightly new style that he normally would. He’s broken down a wall thanks to tone!!🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
real kung fu No its thanks to Justin haha
I'd have to say I liked the Druid the best. And Good Morning Andertons!
P.S. I'm loving your new fingerpicking style Rob!
woot - Union Pedals rock!
That starting jam has become my favourite from you two :D
Killer intro, guys! You both sound great.
Same comments on here every demo. Patronising Lee on ‘how his playing has improved’ and ‘Holy shit, Rob’s wearing a hat’.
On the pedals - they are too expensive, £300 is getting into new amp territory.
Sideways Rain Yes it is, telling someone who’s been playing 20 years they are getting better is patronising.
Lufie Alice no its not. He is following lessons now and he has grown as a player a lot. its complimenting and not patronising.
Do Hoeijmans Just say ‘great playing Lee’ then. It is patronising, you basically saying he is rubbish but getting better.
Lufie Alice He was good and now he is better. Thats what we intend to say. Your comment made a positive thing negative IMHO. Nobody is dissing on Lee. We all love the guy.
They are from Vancouver. They have to pay their sky high mortgages.
Lee... you're guitar is amazing!!!
I'm dying to know the brand of the blue butterfly strat!
I like Robs playing without the pick and that Druid sounds stellar through the Astoria.
14:31 And then you'd create... TONEHENGE!
Well done :)
And when are they releasing the christmas videos? Will we get bonus chappers and the captain on the weekend?!!?
1. Take your existing OD pedal. Adjust your amp or guitar's controls a little. Congrats; you have found a different sound.
2. Realise that buying a new pedal will not make you a better player / sound better / be happier.
3. Spend the money you have saved on beer. Unlike your OD pedal, it does need replacing each time you use it.
4. Beer also tastes better than your OD pedal...
You should patent that! You might earn some money... Oh wait, you'll it all on beers :-)
Sounds like someone at Andertons had a few beers when they replied to this!
Boudicawasnotreallyallthat Smith beer DOES need replacing every time you use it.
That's like telling a painter to pick one colour, for the rest of his days, that's all he can paint with. I do like beer thought. Think I'll have one. Cheers.
The riff Lee keeps going to really reminds me of Quick Death in Texas by Clutch :D
Very tasty jam session at the beginning 👌🏻🤘
Those Gibsons are just so beautiful.
There certainly needs to be a Tone-henge made out of those Tone Druid pedals.
The website lists the amp as “not available” 😩
What's the song in the beginning?
For 300 quid they can keep Columbia and I'll have 4-5 Boss pedals instead.
Keep going with the fingerpicking Rob. It's the best form of picking.
Saved to favourites so I can learn that intro :D
Lee please post episode 7 of your lessons with Justin video. The best stuff ever! I need to learn more too and I started with you in Episode one and learned a lot also. When can we expect the new vid? Cheers!
Wow, the captain really improved his playing last year. 👍
I have a theory. Somewhere out there is a book about marketing yourself on the internet. It contains a line something like "It's important to create a recognisable brand for yourself.Always appearing in, for example, a distinctive hat can help you achieve this." Justin Sandacore and Marty Schwartz have read this book. Rob Chapman read it recently. Soon Rob will lend it to Lee, and from around Easter Lee will start appearing in every video wearing a Fez.
These are the same people who made the jack white/third man bumble buzz right? That pedal is killer!
Can we have a jazzmaster shootout? Specifically with the jmjm squier?
And Rob is sounding better too. Much more character feel and tone. Sometimes its more tastefull to make melody and use the shredding more tasteful. Ive become a fan of his band and his new playing! Go check it. Its awesome.
Shocked nobody has chimed in with "Tonehenge."
Coat got
Its so refreshing to see chappers not just shredding away, gotta respect the man for trying something new
The best channel on RUclips.
You want to ease us back in? You can ease it in real good ;)
That was as tad gauche... but it's staying.
The build quality on these pedals is top notch just saying
Same folks that make Jack White's Bumble Buzz pedal
Nice video ... But just saying .... Is all of it really worth it when you are up on stage doing gigs ... Like does it really make a difference with respect to other overdrive pedals?
I enjoyed Robs playing massively in the video! I wish he didn’t try the hat thing again, but who the fuck am I to talk.... I’ll be back with an opinion once I also play sold out shows 😂 haha
You need a cigar box pedal then mate if you want something that looks like a box but is a pedal. People make em and sell em on ebay. Generally about $30 upwards !!!.
From dreadlocked Metalhead to Private Investigator hat wearing Blues guy in just a couple of years. What's next? A yellow Ford Mustang, lounge suits and shuffleboard at Del Boca Vista?
ok just about to watch the video but have checked the prices and at around 300 pounds each they better be AWESOME. ok i am back and they did sound really really really good i have to say!
Love my More pedal....just leave it on at 8:00 as kind of an EQ
I just subscribed to Chapper's channel for the JP name drop!
19:28 it is funny that lee picked both of these because they are [ to be very simple about it ] the same pedal the DRUID just has a volume control.
I like the hat, Chappers looks like a young Terry Pratchett.
For that price, I think the knobs should be labelled.
What you mean Rob and Captain should have name badges?
I'm surprised to hear the natural-sounding breakup. These pedal don't sound generic to others. A standout!
Nice tones, but that rail buzz at 10:00 ruins it. Fortunately, this is the kind of thing any competent EE with an oscilloscope can trace in a few minutes, but it should have been fixed before sending the product to market. Sloppy work, Union!
i much prefer bluesy rob chapman ...its transformation gone well ...
👍🏿🤘 Crikey, that intro. 🔥
One thing we can say for certain: regardless the amp, the pedal, the player, Lee's LesPaul tone is immense!
This wasn't labeled as a JAFOD?
No Sir, these are not merely overdrive units, they are also quite spendy.
I would totally love a #JAFOD, as I would watch every video tagged with that.
I know whose hand I won't be shaking when I eventually make it to Andertons ..
i play the More, Tsar Bomba, Lab, and Tone Druid. the best pedals ever. id pay a lot more money for analog delay of theirs if they ever felt like it, just to have an all union board. total fanboy, love their stuff! go vancouver!!!
Rob! When depicting where you went on tour, why do you point your finger up when mentioning Australia and down when mentioning England? :P
Any chance you could review the famous cult favorite Interfax Harmonic Percolator Pedal????
Rob's Blues Rock playing is getting damn good.
I caught the split-second British Pound sign at 19:18 . . . do I win a prize?
Lee improving a lot since lessons with Justin. :)
Rob’s trying to follow Ritchie Kotzen’s footstep... no picks! Good call! Nice tone in this video, you don’t have to shred to impress!!
Nothing kicks off a jam like a real squirp.
It's a very strange design decision to put that IN and OUT inscriptions below the knobs.
Tonehenge?
"We've been separated way more than we should ever be. " Approved
She said.
great opening jam guys, sounded sexy.
The Captain is getting better every week...
Hmmmm... I do not understand the price. Here in Canada, I can purchase the pedal (from a national retailer) for $300 Cnd which is $175 Quid. You guys are selling it for $300 Quid which is $512 Cnd. What's with that?
I've always preferred amp distortion. Pedals can be uninspiring sometimes.
“I’ve been playing more blues. You can see by my hat” -chappers
i liked the druid on the gibson it sounded like robin trower tone except he uses a fender.
ps your humbucker on the blue guitar looks upside down
That intro is giving me a real Joe Bonemassa kind of vibe.
Fedora has to go man hahahahaha geez
