  • Flight back from Quincy IL where I had Breakfast. Talked about trips that we did this Summer and a lesson I learned on temps aloft and their affect on the aircraft.

A couple guys in my club are IFR and so we have to be on the lookout for a stale squawk code left in. The old “lights, camera, action” callout on the runway serves me well.

Loving hearing that Comanche roar. What was your VSI going up ? It’s summertime. ☺️

Hi Ken, if I am light, in a cruise climb I see 700 ft min til 4,000 ish feet, then about 500. At Vy I am getting just over 1000. And yes it's Summer, but around here we don't normally see 75* F at 7k feet. It was odd. :-)

Hi Steve, its a Garmin GTN 650 and I like it a lot, and would recommend. The new ones are GTN 650 Xi and they have even more horsepower.

Hi Michael, just found your site and subscribed. I was surprised to see your so close to me. I’m 55 and about to solo so really interested in your videos, they are so helpful! If your near DPA (West Chicago) or 06C (Pilot Pete’s lunch! - Schaumburg) stop by and pick me up I will hop in the Comanche Lol 😀. Scott.

Enjoy your solo, you only do it once. And don’t be in a rush. Once you get licensed and are looking for a place to go, Janesville WI has a nice restaurant. Good luck.

'Curious'... Are you aware that your 'on screen' Tachometer didn't reflect your pre takeoff 'run-up' or your Mag check or your taxi. No speed reflected either thru your back taxi to RWY13

Hi Serveyore7, Yes the Engine Monitor uses the pulses from the ignition to measure RPMs while the dial is a physical cable. The Dial is the "official" one because the Engine Monitor is not certified. :-)

When I run up my 180 I do it all at 2000 rpm. What is the thought process on doing the prop cycle at 1500?

Morning Alex, strictly noise reduction. It gets fresh oil in the hub and tests if the blades flatten out but it is not as loud. Mike

@@pipercomanche2506 thanks for clarifying. Just wanted to be sure there wasn't something I had been missing/not doing ideally over the years.
