Looks great Mike. Congratulations. Glad the saga is finally over. I have recently upgraded mine as well, but one thing I could not bring myself to do was get rid of my vacuum pump. Put in a 650 with one 275, 255 nav comm, 345X, and a new vacuum pump. My luck with electronics is less than stellar, so I still wanted it for some added redundancy with the backup PFD on the 275. Hopefully a GFC 500 and engine monitor will be next. Maybe even some of those MUCH better looking yokes. Merry Christmas
The answer to both questions. You can’t change the course pointer on a GPS. That is only for VOR/LOC. When the needle is green the you can change it. It is green in the VFH Nav mode only. As for the other question the answer is ‘it depends’. If the screen goes blank due to a back light lamp then yes the autopilot will still function fine. If you lose complete power on the top unit or have any other complete failure then no, I don’t think you will have complete functionality. Maybe just some very basic modes. Because depending on how it’s wire, you may lose the magnetometer. I am confused though. Did you say you have the AP version. You don’t need that of your GI-275’s are with the GFC-500 autopilot.
Hi Mark, The Gear Warning System was put in during my annual in 2016. It was from Knots2U www.knots2u.net/ up on Wisconsin. I just looked at the website to get you a link, but it looks like they do not make it any longer. If they don't you may want to call them and see what they did with it.
T depends on the unit you are putting in and what the labor rate is at the shop you use. Your best bet is to ask around your local area, talk to a couple shops and see what they say. Also, my Mrs can read this…so we don’t discuss dollars. :-)
Hardest part was finding them. I took them to a local automotive paint shop, they clean and painted them. Remove the old one (cut roll pin and pull out) install the new ones with a new roll pin.
I traded them in for the 275’s. I upgraded because I was going to install the STEC 3100 and it does not play as nice with the G5’s. When the 3100 did not work, I kept them when I went with the GFC500. Both are great units. The 275 has more features.
Nice setup Mike! Ditching the old yokes made a huge difference in modernizing the look. I’m loving the GI-275s!
I would love to do these updates to my Comanche 180! Better start saving up :)
Good to see u again.
Fantastic setup. Merry Christmas!
Congratulations, the upgrades look amazing.
Very nice set up!!!
Glad your back merry Christmas I’m putting new cgr 30 monitors in my Comanche also love the new yokes and what you’ve done

Hi John, yes I have the AP version because we were originally going to put the STEC-3100 in. They for your thought on what happens if it fails. Mike
Nice job Mike. I have a PA24-260 and I’m having the panel redone. What glareshield is installed over your panel?
Hi Dennis, I am sorry to say, but I have no idea. It was there when I got the plane.
@@pipercomanche2506 OK, thx. I know a few places that well them, but i thought yours was nice
Was the gear up warning system always in the airplane? STC?

What are the cost for upgrades including labor?

I like the yokes. How hard was that to do?

What did you do with the G5s? I'm just starting to upgrade my panel and I'm considering the G5s instead of the GI-275s to stay within budget.

@@pipercomanche2506 ohh good to know. This new panel looks amazing man! I'm jealous!! Lol
My Manche does not lol like that
Nice set-up! I know certified aircraft require an approval for everything and wondering what you had to do to put the new yokes in?
Hi DnK, I am not positive, but I think a 337 was used. Mike
That's looking really sharp! Nothing I want to be nosy but how much money did it cost to make these upgrades, the final bill
Lol, my wife might read this. That number will go with me to my grave. :-)
