Did any Roots Form? Lewisia Cotyledon Propagation Update

In one of my earlier videos, I showed you how I successfully propagate my lewisia cotyledon on my London balcony. In this video, I update you on the propagation progress and attempt further propagation.

Would using rooting hormone powder make much of a difference with faster and more root growth?
I see a lot of YT people just cut and plant the babies.

Thank you for this video. Been trying to find how to successfully propagate mine for a couple of years! Did you notice any better success rate with the babies started from the flower stems verses the ones you cut close to the mother's base?

Ah, thanks for the comment :) to be honest they both worked. Possibly had a bit more success with the one‘s closer to the mother‘s base. Maybe because they send more energy in to root production rather than their flowers. Good luck and let me know how it turned out :)

I think you‘re German so I am going on in German. Vielen Dank für die Info mit den Babies, die aussehen wie neue Blütenstände. Genau darüber bin ich unlängst gestolpert, als ich meine Lewisia vermehren wollte. Ich habe dieses Jahr nur Lewisia gekauft, weil sie so wunderschön und pflegeleicht sind. Jetzt habe ich ungefähr 40 Stück rund ums Haus verteilt stehen. Was mir die vergangenen Tage, an denen es sehr heiß war, aufgefallen ist, ist, dass Lewisia tagelange Hitze in direkter Sonne nicht so gut vertragen 😳😥.
Was das Vermehren anbelangt, muss man warten bis die Babies unter den Blättern rausgewachsen sind, um sie zu vermehren. Weißt du wie man Lewisia über ihre Samen vermehrt? Sie zählen wohl zu den Kaltsamern, aber davon habe ich keine Ahnung. Ich habe nur gelesen, dass man im Spätsommer gesunde Blätter einpflanzen und so überwintern soll, weil sich dann bis zum Frühling daraus Pflänzchen entwickeln. Werde ich auf jeden Fall ausprobieren. Danke für deine Videos- schön, dass noch jemand diese wunderschönen Pflanzen zu schätzen weiß. Enjoy your days 😎🤗

Vielen Dank für diesen ausführlichen und schönen Kommentar. Wow, 40 Lewisias, beeindruckend! Ich habe bis jetzt noch nicht mit Lewisiasamen gearbeitet, werde aber in den nächsten Tagen ein paar Samen ernten und mein Glück versuchen. Werde dann wahrscheinlich auch ein Video daraus machen :) viel Erfolg beim Probieren auf jeden Fall :)

Come on you need some fresh new clean cutters and a fresh pot of soil. And you should sterilize the cutters before starting your cutting. Everything else was okay.

Thank you. I know sterilising your cutters is considered necessary by some gardening channels, but I have found that my lewisia cotyledons have overall fared well without new soil and sterilised cutters. They are pretty tough plants.
