What an interesting hunt Steve. Stirs the imagination finding coin spills in the middle of the bush. Keep em coming mate. Great stuff.

Thanks Phil. Probably dropped by somebody working at the site back in the 1940s. If it hadn’t been so overgrown we may have found more.

Some great detecting in very thick scrub Steve. The coin spill was a terrific find and the coins seemed to be in very good condition. Just shows that older coins can be found anywhere! Look forward to your next video.

Cheers Luke! Yep - anything can be anywhere! Couldn’t believe i found that spill. I’m sure that site had more, but trying to detect in there was almost impossible.

Thanks Paul. It was certainly a surprise to find that coin spill. I’m glad I found it because there wasn’t much else to be found…

I found a 1933 half penny yesterday. My heart skipped a beat and I had to recheck the date. Ah well, it was still a good find and a fun hunt.

Brilliant work Steve. Finding coins, especially one as small as a thripp, in the middle of nowhere chokers full of Bracken, is certainly a win 😂 the manticore provides a deep signal too. Again, well done mate. Top work 😊

Thanks Steph! Yes, very lucky to find those coins! I dare say there was more there, but it was just too scrubby to swing to coil - even a 6”!

Ive been trying to detect with a equinox 800 on my sister's ranch, it's been a challenge because of the ground. Its in Lower Michigan the ground is sort of sandy but hard and compact? It was a working 200 ac ranch lots of horses, they have a old campground not being used tagts all mud now and Dirt race track i haven't found anything except some old pull tabs and tweezers? So many people have bien on this property, im loosing hope ill find anything (coins, jewelry etc) before its sold 😢

Sites that have had many uses over the years can be tough. About all you can really do is “cherry pick” the site with a large coil (11” or 15”). By this I mean discriminate for the target IDs you want to find and only dig the obvious repeatable targets. If you start finding a few good targets try to concentrate on that area and slow down. I’m not sure what target IDs your old coins might be, but I’d imagine anything showing 15nor higher would be worth checking - particularly targets over 20 as they’d be larger, and higher in copper or silver content. Good luck!

    Hey
What made you use the 6” in the bush
And also how did you originally find out about this old house location?
Im still really new to this
    Thanks 😊

The 6” coil is the perfect choice in bushy locations, as it’s much easier to get into little gaps around rocks and vegetation. Bigger coils tend to get caught up in sticks and bushes, making it almost impossible to detect. We found this site using some old aerial photos freely available off the internet.
