Hiking in the Copper Canyon

  • In today's Mexico travel vlog we hike from the beautiful San Isidro Lodge about 4 miles down to the town of Cerocahui. Along the way we see some amazing sites, cross a few streams, and of course- stumble upon some delicious enchiladas!
After we get back to the ranch we take part in a tradition that dates back to pre-hispanic times in Mexico- Temazcal. "A temazcal is a type of sweat lodge which originated with pre-Hispanic Indigenous peoples in Mesoamerica. The word temazcal comes from the Nahuatl word temāzcalli ("house of heat")." It was 90 minutes of my life that I will never forget!

Excelentes vídeos Goyo y Hilary. Keep up with the beautiful work you are doing, I didn't have the chance to explore some of the places you are showing us when I did that trip, so now I want to go back and see those places I missed. You were reborn after the Temascal Goyo now ask Hilary to experience it so both are in the same level and share the good around you and toss the bad vibes so both keep growing as a stronger couple.

Wow I really liked this video. You guys are showing the real Mexico. I have personally tried Temazcal. It is a unique experience and comes with lots of health benefits. It depends on you if you want to continue until the last door, or you would like to stop even after the first, and there are many levels of Temazcals, you guys went with the Tarahumaras whose are in very strong physical conditions. It is amazing that you guys tried. You are real Mexicans since there are many of us that have not even tried. Your channel is amazing!!!

Once again, you have taught me something new. I did not know that there were Tarahumara sweat lodge (temazcal) ceremonies in Mexico. I have participated in a sweat lodge in Northern Ontario, Canada (Cree First Nation island in the Moose River on the South end of James Bay). I agree, it is a challenge to withstand the small quarters (mine was in a small deerskin tent-like structure), along with the humidity and smoke. Thank you for sharing and teaching.

I didn’t know that part of Chihuahua the temazcal bath. And hiking should be nice up hill and down hill with wonderful views. About the temazcal, in Puebla also they have the temazcal bath, my mother was born there and when we were a lil kids my mother always took us to her “house” and it was on the country side around 30 or 45 min by bus, I remember to take a shower at the temazcal but it was made of brick and has a round shape I can say with 2 entrances 1 obviously was the main entrance and the other one they place on metal cubes water to heat with wood ( branches ) from the tree. I can say the form was like an igloo and inside the fire made something like a steam bath and I feel scare cause I was a lil kid from the city we had light on the house and the temazcal doesn’t so they used candle sticks. Take care 🙏🏼👍🏼🇲🇽🇺🇸
