@@susana5052 I had front row for TSO in 2009. Paul O'Neill handed me a silver dollar from 1888! Their very first single (Sarajevo 12//24) was actually release on a Savatage disc first. If you want an excellent prelude to TSO check out the Savatage disc "Streets".
Paul Oneill produced this album. He and the singer John Olivia, along with Al Pitrelli created Trans Siberian Orchestra in 1996. The song Christmas eve/Sarajevo 12-24 was on Savatage album released in 95. It became a radio christmas hit, and song TSO is known of. TSO was Paul Oneills creation, but those men helped him make it happen. Chric Caffrey a giutarist of Savatge, heads the east coast TSO tour, while Al Pitrelli heads the west coast tour. John Olivia hoped folks would enjoy TSO and explore Savatage, to hear Chris Olivia his brothers guitar work. Chris was such an incredibly great guitarist. TSO does play some savatage songs in their shows.
Savatage is still rocking today. And more popular now than when they were calling themselves SAVATAGE. I know that pretty much everyone has heard them. Only you know them now as T.S.O. The Transiberian Orchestra. Loved them then. Love them now. Their music is definitely on point.
On this album Hall of the Mountain king there is a song before this one called Prelude To Madness which is is there take on the original hall of the mountain king Look it up Prelude To Madness by savatage
Okay, so, you've stumbled upon one of my FAVORITE bands ever! And I really hope that you'll consider listening to more of their music. Their sound changed a lot over time, and they got more into Prog-Rock, especially when John O'Niel joined up with them. And by the way, the lead singer and the lead guitarist in this video were brothers. Jon Oliva (vocals) and Criss (guitar), though Criss died in a car accident some while later. (RIP) Anyway, please consider listening to more of their music. Here's a few suggestions: "Edge of Thorns", "Alone You Breathe", "Chance" (if you REALLY want a taste of their more Prog-Rock sound), "This Isn't What We Meant", "When the Crowds are Gone", "Summer's Rain", "Handful of Rain", "Hounds", "Christmas Eve (Sarajevo 12/24)" Okay, I could go on, and on. Seriously.
Bro you have to react to the best song they ever did. Right before Chris Oliva the lead guitarist was killed by a drunk driver. That would be Edge of Thorns
I know you're doing a lot of the presidential stuff right now and I watch pretty much everything you put out these days, but have you done any new music videos? Savatage is number 2 of my favorite bands....iron maiden is my number one. The San Antonio bust of some of TDA was a couple weeks ago. If you can....relax and react to some music.... that's why I subscribed
I was expecting something like Grieg’s Hall of the Mountain King. I was expecting some kind of song using a riff from the classical. Not familiar with the group but had some of the 70/80s headbanging feel to it. Try Rainbow Hall of the Mountain King.
On the album there is a short instrumental just before this song and that has got the melody of Grieg's Hall Of The Mountain King. Called "Prelude To Madness".
No, the guitarist here is Criss Oliva, the brother of the singer. He was killed by a drunk driver in 93. However, later on when this band did Gutter Ballet they brought in Chris Caffery so it was the Criss/Chris duo. But later on in late 90's Paul O'neil, Chris Caffery, Jon Oliva and Criss Oliva's replacement lead guitarist Al Pitrelli formed Trans Siberian
I have been a Savatage fan as far back as when the band was called Avatar. However I think this cheesy video sheds a poor light on how great this band was {Before Zak}.
Not long after this one, they got a new producer - Paul O'neill. He guided them into a more progressive metal mold. Personal favourites of mine are Gutter Ballet and Christmas Eve Sarajevo 12/24 which was a tribute to the man known as the Cellist of Sarajevo. Christmas Eve Sarajevo burned up Rock Radio the following Christmas Paul O'Neill decided to create an album of updated Christmas stuff and he made Christmas Eve and other stories with Savatage members prominent in the writing and playing. Since it wasn't meant as a Savatage project, they named this band Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Nobody expected what happened next. TSO went multi-platinum. So they made another...also multi-platinum. So they made a non-christmas album - Beethoven's Last Night plus a couple more. Since then Savatage has been pretty much snuffed out. So...my favourites 1. Gutter Ballet 2. Christmas Eve Sarajevo 3. The Mad Russian's Christmas (Tzaikovski) 4. Oh Holy Night (Christmas standard) 5. Wizards of Winter 6; Requiem/the Fifth - from Beethoven's last night. Combination of Beethoven's 5th and Mozart's Requiem 7. Last Illusion - from Beethoven's last night. Flight of the Bumblebee 8; The Mountain - Greig's original Hall of the Mountain King - as someone noted in one of the previous posts 9. and "live"....Oh Furtuna from the Carmina Burana They were working on reworking the Gutter Ballet, but Paul O'neill died a couple of years ago, so who knows what the future will bring
Never heard this song or the band. The song was ok but sounded like a hundred other "metal" songs, not something I would listen to often but it was worth checking out.
@@terriertz6837 That's what I love about them. If you listen to the whole album there are some really good songs. Strange Wings, Beyond the Doors of the Dark, White Witch, Devastation, The Price you Pay.. such a a great album. Gutter Ballet is even better. If you go back to their earlier stuff like The Dungeons are Calling and Power of the Night, those were less theatrical. Dungeons are Calling will always be my favorite of theirs.
I love this song. It's a good example of what metal should be.
Ahhh, headbanging goodness! Loved it!!
One of the best! R.I.P. Criss Oliva!
You have to check out Savatage's Gutter Ballet and When the Crowds are Gone. Pure Epicness
Savatage was very underrated 80s metal RIP Criss oliva (guitarist) Jon oliva (vocals) was his brother band didn't go very far after criss passing
Predecessor to TSO Trans-Siberian orchestra
You can see the first glimpse of that in the video for Gutter Ballet TSO still plays that live.

These old boys are from my home. Tampa, Florida. just like The Outlaws

Masterpiece! RIP Criss Oliva.🎸🤘🏻
Im glad he did this song been asking for a while so to who ever requested this and he did it thanks cause i gave up asking.
I like Edward Grieg’s In the Hall of the Mountain King
This is what I was expecting-ELO did an interesting cover of it on their third album.
On this album Hall of the Mountain king there is a song before this one called Prelude To Madness which is is there take on the original hall of the mountain king Look it up Prelude To Madness by savatage
Savatage became Trans-Siberian Orchestra
Not What You See- Savatage
Is one of my favorite songs from them
Amazing, that all slipped by me.

Oh god he watched the video. Lol just better to listen to the song bro. Lol
Lmao yep....the video cheeses it up
One of these days I have to watch Battle Of Five Armies with this playing in the background.

" strange wings " from Savatage
met the singer in the early '90's, he was cool..

Check out “Gutter Ballet” next arguably their best song. And great reaction bye the way.
Pretty sure that she meant the classical, original Hall of the Mountain King. (Even Mickey fecking Mouse knows it)
The guitarist went on to form Trans-Siberian Orchestra
@ShariSez1 Think if Criss left 30 seconds later he would probably still be here today and things would be alot different if he was

I would love to see your reaction to Sanctuary Battle Angels, can you do a reaction video for that, the singer's voice is insane?!!
great song!
One of the heaviest riffs ever... RIP Criss Oliva!

WT#....YEAH Ty.....me too...had to go to my closet and put on last clean set of the full armor of God...need to do some laundry quick...
Savatage..Raaaaaaa!!!!

Please do Bed Of Roses by Bon Jovi
the proper name for small folks is little people tye. seems like alot of music video's have them in the 80's and 90's.
i bases a D&D session off this video lol went over pretty well actually
Good God bro do Savatage Edge of Thorns. Last album before Criss Oliva and family was killed by a drunk driver
Savin me by nickle back.
Great song, atrocious video. Applies to A LOT of 80's metal.
This video is fuckin great man 😂
I think this band was a bit cheesy on purpose though
Unleash the Archers - Awakening
definitely check out KING DIAMOND 'moonlight'
👍😎
how about a sad feel good song.. Billy Gilmen one voice
Same band song off same album of rage and war
Christ, was there any lead singer of 1980's metal/hair bands who wasn't trying to impersonate Robert Plant?
You obviously NEVER heard this band.. he sounds NOTHING like Robert Plant.. nor is he trying to be Robert Plant.
NOT that I have anything against Robert Plant. In Through the Out Door is a classic album.
The song is as amazing as the video is cheesy and dated.
Never heard this song or the band. The song was ok but sounded like a hundred other "metal" songs, not something I would listen to often but it was worth checking out.
James Kirschling you’re missing out.
This must be some obscure wannabe hard rock band from the 80's.
wannabe?! This is one of the absolute BEST bands!
@@keithholm7493 They just seem way to theatrical.
