- Walking the GR 20 in one go, from north to south in August of 2011. We camped all the way, took the high level variants where possible, and completed it on the ninth day. It's the most enjoyable long walk I've ever done, being scenically beautiful and dramatic the whole way, and being done largely under skies of blue.
After 7 trips to the wonderful Pyrenees I want somewhere else for 2015. I think this is it.
Great walk, great weather, thanks for sharing.
What a fantastic adventure you two had in Corsica. I've enjoyed your video, and shared it with my students at the public school where I work in a small town in South Carolina, USA. (I've worked as a professional musician, university administrator, and now loving the life as a media specialist (librarian). The kids were enthralled with the video, you two, and the idea of such a journey. I took pictures of the students watching on the large "smart board" in the library. I can't share student pictures publicly, but would be happy to send them via email. All the best to you guys, and wishing you many more memorable journeys in this all too short life we share on this beautiful blue planet. Corsica has captured my imagination. JVD
Beautiful trail, did it in 2010. This brings back wonderful memories. One can meet wonderful people there from all over the world and the landscape is stunning. However, sometimes I felt like there were too many people walking it. Made it feel a bit crowded.
Just finished this last week with my 3 friends. It was amazing.
Lovely views, gives a really good idea of the terrain too, thanks for uploading!
Thanks Stephanie. If you're a keen hiker, I can't recommend the GR20 enough.
It is definitely on my wish list!
Belles images .Bravo pour votre GR20
I had the opportunity to live this experience in September 2013 it is absolutely fantastic!!
tres joli vidéo :-) bien filme et mixé entre photos et clips :-D Bravo :-))
Thank you very much Andreas.
Great pictures and overview of The "GR20" I am going for it 17th June this year 2013 camping, it looks tough but great fun, done The Houlte Route (Wild Camped) 20kg pack must try to reduce for this one, well done lads.
This video really holds up--extremely helpful beta, thank you!
Thanks Ben. I'm glad you liked it. You've just prompted me to revisit the video, and the great memories have come flooding back. It remains the most enjoyable walk I've ever done.
Thank you mdz. We doubled pretty much all of it, except perhaps the last two or three days I think. We carried most of our food, only buying meals on three or four occasions (particularly in Vizzavona and at the Hotel Castel di Vergio - a real delight).

Great video😁
Just been. An amazing island. Will definitily return
Hi Martin. Yes, it's six years since I was last there, but I hope I go back again before too long.
Hello. We did the walk independently, camping all the way. The book we used was the Cicerone guide, which was excellent. We didn't really need a map, although that might have been helpful if we had encountered bad weather.
Mine was about 14 kg, my friend's about 10 kg. We carried a tent, sleeping bags, cooking equipment, food etc. In retrospect, I would have preferred mine to have been lighter, and to maybe have done the whole thing in fell running shoes rather than fabric walking boots.
Looks like you had an excellent time. What was the score on cooking in the refuges if you weren't staying in them and what kind of food did you carry?
nice! thanks for sharing, could you please tell us wheter you carried your own food or you brought stuff at the huts and which parts you doubled? 9 days is really good !
Hi just wondering, how was the path to follow, how much did you hav eto use a map and how was the food and water situation along the way?
Christian
Hello Christian. The path is extremely well marked, and I seem to remember that you could actually do the whole thing without a map, if you were that way inclined.
I guess you have to carry quite a bit of drinkingwater along.
Thanks for your answer! 10 and 14 kg sounds very lightweight! I want to walk the GR20 this year. Do you have a gearlist of what you have been carrying exactly?
What a teip folks...!! I'm thinking of buying the book at 20:48 ...worth it? Any sugestion of better reading..,?
;))
20:48
It's definitely a good book to go for.
Nice video, and awesome views.. How long did you walk to do the full route? And where did you refill your water supply?
Cheers!
Freaky Freek Thank you. Nine days. We refilled from the mountain refuges, and occasionally from streams (although you can't rely on that In the summer).
how much did your backpacks weight?
Very good! Would you say best month is August? Any problems along the way?
Thank you. I think June - August is fine, as long as you are aware that you will need a lot of water, and there's an increased risk of afternoon storms. No problems for me, but subsequently, the Cirque de Solitude has been badly affected by rock fall, and I believe the route has had to be changed.
Thank you. After watching the video, I feel like I've done it already!
what about from mid Sept to beginning Oct? Is it crazy? Risk of snow?
Mid-september is the best. DEFINITELY NOT in August, when it's crazy hot and crazy crowded ! I also strongly suggest to hike it from South to North.
How did you get food?
We carried some food (pasta / tinned fish), and bought small amounts at refuges. You can resupply at Vizzavona.
Viva calenzana !
Assassin assassin assassin
amazing landscapes.Camera shaking wastes it all ... :(
okazerk Glad you like the landscape. Not sure what you mean about camera shake, since there's hardly any. There's an element of it in some of the shots where I'm filming as I walk, but in the absence of an expensive steady cam device, I think that's to be expected.
