You absolutely said the right things! You’re a great mom! Growing pains are never easy… siblings tend to feed off each other and it all works. ❤

Oh darling, you are a brilliant mother! Don't ever doubt it. And you are giving both of your children EXACTLY what they need, and that's you, and lots of love.
There is a reason that over here three year old are nicknamed "threenagers"
You will get through it, but it's ok to not always feel OK, don't be down on yourself for that.
Lots of love prayers and blessings coming your way from across the pond xxx

I agree that a weighted blanket or vest might be the ticket. Parenting can be hard. Much love to you. Merry Christmas!

Does she have a weighted blanket? My son is very similar to Nova. he is now 20, but he was the same way at 3. Obviously a weighted blanket won't fix all of the problems in the world, but it can really help calm some kids and help them sleep. I bought a full twin size for my son for his bed, and a throw/lap size for in the house. he would sit on the sofa with it while reading and things. They also make weighted shoulder ones that feel like a hug. They have different weights and have a calculation for a child's weight. They are so easy to find now and much less pricey than they used to be, even Amazon had a ton of them. I thought i would mention it when you talked about holding her. In time she will learn to process things easier. Her brilliant light may feel like a lot now, but it will serve her well in life. I hope this rough patch is short lived for her! Hugs!

Just the fact that you are telling her she’s safe and loved will go a long way! She knows you love her and you are an amazing mom!

That woodland yarn is so pretty! I love all the colors. Just know that your body needs boundaries too, as well as Nova, and thats ok. It doesnt make you a bad person or mama.

I feel you on those big reactions and emotions. Three is a wild ride! The things you say will sink in to her brain…I’ve been surprised how years later Elijah will repeat things I used to say to him in those moments. Sending all the regulation I can spare!

3 year olds can be worse than the terrible 2s (sorry, not what you want to hear). They go through a pretty defiant stage where they will just refuse everything. You will get through it, it's just another developmental stage. Nova singing to Grandma was just too cute! Hannah you are doing a great job with 2 babies, you got this!

Have you considered Nova may be gifted? And a highly sensitive person? HSP is in about 20% of the population. My daughter, now a teenager, is gifted and HSP and cried everyday until she was 12. There's lots of things that come with being gifted, such as poor sleeping. Weighted blankets help, low stimulation bedroom (very uncluttered, very soft bedding), white noise from a fan. Just a thought. Hold in there; it will get better.

Noah did not like you saying you felt like a horrible mother. No one person can be everything to another. I seriously think that is where the saying,it takes a village to raise a child...each person teaches the child something different. Give everything you can to help her fix her issues...then stand back and watch her soar!

Remember that she is going through a huge adjustment too and may need some of your one on one time.

Have you looked up sensory processing disorder? Children who were colicy as infants are more prone to it. Your experince with Nova is almost the same as mine with our first born. Reading about SPD has been a game changer.

Terrible 2's aren't a thing...3's are crazy. But once they edge towards 4 it's ok again. Then they're just outspoken and learn facts and learn to rationalize and understand others have feelings. If you're a good parent you're never going to think you're doing a great job. I have an 18yr old and a 7 yr old. Everyone tells me they are great sweet people and everytime I'm overwhelmed I feel like I'm not doing my best. But we move forward and they are are great so I guess I'm good.
