Pro tip, with this model you can remove the two screws located on the top of the microwave that are visible when mounted. This removes the plastic trim for the vent/fan above the door. The door then just lifts up and off. Very easy to remove and put back on. No need for pushing on any tabs or anything. Much easier.

I just purchased a new door and I was about to go crazy because it would not go on. The old one came off after tugging it, and I assume I must have snapped that little tab off because I didn't push it in. Between smashing my finger a few times, 3 kids arguing and trying to get this door on, I came close to calling someone. But then I found this video. Thank you very much for helping me keep my sanity and saving me a few bucks. Now, do you have tips for shutting these kids up? Lol

Thanks for the information, it was very helpful. I was foolish enough to replace my first one with the same model. I have lost two magnetrons, a steam sensor and now one broken handle. While my unit looked the same as yours, ours was a bit different. That being said, the handle is now working.... minus a few broken clips!! This is my last GE product, (all though they've been sold) as they are pure junk!!!
My new microwave came with the door off. I watched your video three times and finally got the door on. Thanks for you help

Thank you as we have the same 1.6 cu ft GE stainless steel just messed up as it kept tripping the circuit breaker , shutting off and making rumbling sounds so we replaced it with the same model but black and was cheaper. I feel that the new one's door seemed lighter so fearing it may break in the future I opted to remove the door of the old one and store it just in case. Thanks to your video it was fairly easy using a flat head screwdriver. 👍👍
Thanks! I was able to swap out the door from a bad microwave at my rental property and replace the door at my house which had a bad handle.
My model was a little different- the tab had to be pulled out instead of pushed in. A little screwdriver pried it out easy.

Thank you for showing how to get the door out. Our microwave door is sagging. The hinges are loose. Any tips on how to fix it?
Do any of the supports and hinges feel loose?
@@UnconventionalThinker yes sir they do. The door won’t close fully because of it. I have to hold it in place otherwise the circuit will trip. I checked the switches. They are working

It was harder to put back than needed. I ended up just cutting/twisting the "safety tab" and it went right back in.
How to clean the interior window/glass ge microwave?
We have a microware just like this - the film on the door has peeled loose - around a square inch at the middle of the bottom of the door. Is that a health risk? Should we replace the door? or just the film?

It is possible, but the issue is GE doesn't tend to sell the part by itself. They tend to sell the entire door

ok so now that the ge microwave door is out and you need to to replace the door handle and or endcaps that break, how do you remove the plastic trim around the the inside of the door without breaking it. My microwave is exactly like yours in this video.

Unfortunately maintenance at my apartment complex is garbage. My girlfriend and I have been threatened by the lead tech , who still has his job, twice. So, I handle most repairs in our home. I have the same model. Pushing the black tab to clear the white hinge did not help. The top pin is not clearing the hole in the hinge either. Any suggestions, anyone.
We’ve been here for 2 years. I’ve changed air filters, refrigerators filters, repaired leaky ac, replaced broken sink strainer, unclogged shower drain and dishwasher.

Thanks for the video...I was able to remove the plastic tab, the metal grate, then unscrew the handle screws. Then the door came off, everything was put back together. All I have to do is put the door back on the two pins....and I can't...any suggestions to make it click in????
There was one individual who mentioned removing the vent on the top and it made the door removal "easier". It can be finicky
Omg I just broke mines I need help to repair it 😫 I don't know where the silver pin part went but it still latches but when I open the door it completely comes off

Thanks for the door instruction too bad you have not done one on removing the glass and replacing the handle small screw holder assembly. That is a more difficult project so instruction would have been helpful.
