    thanks a lot for this kind of vids Chris, it makes things much easier! At what point would you recommend switching from tiered to fixed comissions structure?

    • @VerrilloTrading
      @VerrilloTrading  6 месяцев назад

      Glad they help! It really depends on the number of shares you are trading. If you find yourself trading large amounts of shares at once, the fixed commissions might be better. I have heard traders in the past mention that when they were trading penny stocks with thousands of shares, they experienced higher commissions using tiered. For lower share size like 100-2000 I think it would probably be the same and maybe slightly better with tiered.

    Hi, Chris! Thanks for the great video! Is it possible to create an order and save it without submitting it - like on TWS platform? This is useful when I do my homework before market opens - I save orders and if stock price conditions on the market opening is appropriate, I submit the previously saved orders.

    • @VerrilloTrading
      @VerrilloTrading  Год назад

      What you can do is prompt an order and not transmit it. It will simply be there pending on your client side. I do not think there is a way to save orders into the software memory unless using the API to do it yourself.

    • @VerrilloTrading
      @VerrilloTrading  2 года назад +1

      It would take some understanding of the specific algo and what it meant to do. All of this info is documented on their website, that would be the best place to learn and reference. Generally those algo order types are meant to serve a specific purpose, so it will depend on what you are looking to accomplish.

    Hi, as I understand there are 2 types of accounts: Cash and Margin. If you open a margin account with IB in Canada and plan to trade US stocks, do you fall under the PDT rule if you place more then 5 trades per week and you use a margin account? If your account is cash, do you have to wait 3 business days after the order for the money to settle and you don't fall under the PDT rule with cash account but can't short stocks ? Thank you

    • @VerrilloTrading
      @VerrilloTrading  9 месяцев назад +1

      Hello, thank you for the question. 1. There is no PDT rule in Canada, it does not apply, it does not exist. It still might show up in the trading platform but it is not applied for Canadian accounts. 2. It depends on the asset class, some markets settle the very next day, stock trades take T+2 days to settle I believe. If you have a margin account you don't need to worry about this but in a cash account yes.

    Hello Verillo. First of all thanks for your content. the time stamps are very useful in your videos. I am based in UK and i am trying to practice on TWS. My interest is day trading stocks (small or large caps). I would like to ask you 1) in order to view lvl 2 data for paper trading account should i make a subscription? I know ofcourse that for trading with real money yes we need to make a subscription. 2) i have noticed that something wrong with the charts. For example, sometimes when i type a stock to view it at 1min or even 5min chart there are either no candles at all or they appear after a while. In contrast with Webulls charts which are very clean,easy to view candles, you can clearly see the current price candle go up and down etc.
    As i am based in UK i cannot use webul for trading and i cannot find any other broker with low fees and direct access to the market as IB.

    • @VerrilloTrading
      @VerrilloTrading  2 года назад +1

      Hello and thank you for the comment. Yes in order to receive real time data it requires a subscription, even if you are only using the paper trading account. However there is some top of book data that is provided free of charge to IBKR customers. That data is just fine however does not include the market depth (Level 2), the only way to get that is to subscribe to the real time data. We can't really provide any help with the charts in TWS, they can have issues but they also work fine most of the time.

      im not so sure if that is even possible after the trade. i wasnt able to find it and even had issues closing a trade. close position seemed to create a whole new order. i think it is best to just add a sl and take profit to the parent order from the start so you have no issues adding it to the parent order later, which i either dont know how to do or it is simply not possible after the trade.
      i even had to buy one more share with the sl and take profit attached in order for me to close my existing order.
      i just changed the amount of shares by adding the shares i already had from before to the whole new parent order i placed and setup up with brackets. i couldnt find any other way to close the trade or place a sl after the fact. i dont think it is possible.
      when doing this it does gives a alert saying that the price range is way to far and might not be placed because of rules , but i ignore that as im clearly placing a normal order with pretty far laying sl and take profits that i only adjust after the entry because of the apps lacking or complications for the exit strategy after you bought the shares.
      i do this after as i simply dont have the time when im placing the order scalping a entry, it already eats enough time to even place a order.. and unless i use a third party app on another screen i have to alt tab from the ordering to check the chart and that gives a heap of issues with everything resetting and taking time. bit of a bummer that the portal doesnt has a paper trading function to practice and train this as there are difficulties with it.

      We cannot provide an accurate response, the best way is to use the paper trading account and prompt the strategy within the options chain. It will show the initial and maintenance margin for any options spread you can create. Those margins are calculated by the brokers systems. You can also reference their doc on capital requirement for certain options trading. www.interactivebrokers.com/en/trading/margin-options.php

    What is the maximum leverage in Interactive Brokers margin trading? How much do they give?

    • @VerrilloTrading
      @VerrilloTrading  Год назад +1

      For stocks, they use the reg-T model with the regular margin account. It’s around 3 to 4 times leverage for most stocks. Not all stocks have leverage. With a Portfolio margin account, it can change, they have a different model for this account type.
