I knew that strand test was ca-ca. According to the strand test I’m low porosity, however my hair has all the characteristics of hi porosity. My hair get wet pretty easily and dries extremely fast. I’ve learned a lot from you and SheRae.
You explained this perfectly for my niece who is vision impaired where most videos depend on the visual but you explained perfectly for her to get this knowledge.
You were NOT lying when you said I would know my porosity by the end of the video. You are the only person who has ever explained porosity this clearly to me. You really out here doing the Lord’s work! God bless you😩🫶🏽🙏
Wowwwww. You explained this so well. I always thought I was high porosity FOR SOME REASON. But all 5 questions proved I was very wrong. I was literally low porosity in all questions. Thank you
You the only one that made this whole topic clear to me thank you so much for the help I have high porosity 4C hair it's annoying but it's also beautiful strong hair
I had a feeling I was high porosity before I even searched the video from the way half my hairs nearly dry by the time i've finished putting the leave in conditioner in the first half and then you actually said it haha. High porosity on every other question too. This was a nice confirmation. Thankyou!
Thank you for explaining this because I’ve looked at other videos and I get different answers all the timex I’m still learning on what products works for my hair and what doesn’t. I’m one of those types that don’t like flakes or having my hair soak with oils, but this really helped me!!
Im low porosity for sure, but that drying one I don't know. If I wash my hair and let it air dry like in a afro form it seems to dry fast but if I twist or braid it or put a rod set in....it literally takes my hair almost about two days to dry. smh
This was SUPER informative. Despite having watched 👀 a LOT of videos on porosity, THIS one finally made it all make sense! Thank you! My tresses and I appreciate you!
Thank you for the information this was so helpful ! I’m definitely high porosity and I never realized all these years. But this will definitely help me when it comes to choosing products and learning how to care for it.
Hello Daye! Have you ever tried using LOC and LCO on both sides of your hair to see what it looks like? That would be an interesting video to watch since naturally you are low porosity but now have high porosity because of color treaments.
This was super helpful! I've never really knew what my porosity was so I was YOLO'ing it lol. With this video I'm sure that I'm Low Porosity. Thank u for putting this out there. I also saw the other video and as a mental health professional, thank u
This video was very insightful and great! You gave great information and tips that I can use! I am low porosity actually and I learned some new information about my hair and how to treat it and I love your makeup girl! Its so pretty!
I get product buildup as with low porosity, my hair doesn’t react in any extreme way when it first gets wet as with normal porosity, but my hair really dries fast as with high porosity, and the moisture in my hair lasts MAYBE through the next day. Really depends on environmental things like weather, time of year, and products I used. Also, oil is my worst enemy. So I have no idea. Could I have higher porosity but very fine hair? Or low porosity but it’s dry and thirsty as heck lol
This was soooo incredibly helpful. I the questions you asked and broke down really made me think and consider how my hair reacts to water or oil. Thank you!!
Fantastic video! Picture ✔, vocab ✔. I was always so confused on the difference between cuticles, roots, ends. The term "take care of your ends". I feel closure 😌. Now, I know low porosity -- day 1. Next what to buy.
Hi. I would like for you to do a video on how to layer products on either high or low porosity hair. Watching your video I think have helped me find out what hair type I have. A few months ago I ended up cutting / dying my hair a few times which really damaged and dried my hair out, so I’m really excited and anxious to get my hair back on the right path with your help.
Wow I thought I might be normal but 5/5 for low porosity, everything you described for low my hair experiences. My hair takes over 24 hours to dry fully all the way, products just sit on top of my hair and I’m not even heavy handed with products. it’s like once water enters my hair it’s a wrap it stays inside and also I’ve been caught in heavy rain and my hair won’t get wet I can just shake it off. Thank you this video is essential!
Yes no noticed when i used natural products like avocado, aloe Vera, coconut oil it comes out the best high porosity hair is difficult to find products that keep moister in thanks for the tips
Hi!! Okay so I thought I was low porosity before watching this video based on other tests I’ve tried and the forbidden float test lol, but after watching I got different answers and I have a few questions for you Here are my answers to the questions 1. Low 2. Medium 3. High 4. Medium to high 5. Medium to high My biggest issue is knowing when to deep condition with products that focus on bringing more moisture vs more protein. My hair is wavy to loose curls around my face/ scalp and under parts of my hair but the middle sections are closer to loose wave/straight. I do not have colored hair, get regular trims and use the curly girl method and still have issues with pattern consistency throughout. I’m not sure if I have multiple porosity types or if I’m missing something. Thanks!!
So I lean more towards high based on the questions. I actually just washed my hair one day and put some leave in conditioner in and twisted my hair. I was shook and I’m thinking I really don’t need products. I believe I have a mix of 4b and 4c hair. My hair only seems to like we the Krystal Eco Styler gel and Shine ‘n Jam is the ONLY thing that slays my edges. I recently tried Uncle Funky’s daughter and that defined the coils nicely.
Omg I LITERALLY was just Googling this question just last night! I watch several naturals here on RUclips with different hair porosity. I wanted to know how to tell exactly without that annoying hair strand test 🙄😂. This pretty much confirms that I am normal (medium) porosity! I don’t know many of us lol especially here on RUclips 😩 (This was such a cute, informative video! Love the setup and how you’re matching it) Thanks Daye! 💗
Questions/Answers 1. Low (takes a long time to get wet) 2. High (absorbs products quickly) 3. High (dries quickly) 4. Low (retains moisture, stays soft for days) 5. Low (oil isn't essential, but I like to use a little sometimes at the roots with a dropper. Like every 2-3 wash days.) So does this mean I'm "normal" or "medium"?
I’m late to the party but a layering video to detail out the LOC LCO etc would be much appreciated. TY for this information. I went through a numerous amounts of videos to finally get to yours and now I feel much more confident in knowing my porosity. I’m Low Porosity BTW. ❤ TY!
I just love every video of you and I thank you for taking your time to show us every detail on it, am looking forward for more video on how to lay my hair products the right way according my porosity 🤩❤
Great video. Could you do a video regarding high porosity whats the difference between a protein conditioner versed a protein treatment when is one needed?
I knew that strand test was ca-ca. According to the strand test I’m low porosity, however my hair has all the characteristics of hi porosity. My hair get wet pretty easily and dries extremely fast. I’ve learned a lot from you and SheRae.
Sameeer
My hair dries fast but also take a while. the heat of water can help penetrate cuticals too.
Sameeee yeah
same here!
You explained this perfectly for my niece who is vision impaired where most videos depend on the visual but you explained perfectly for her to get this knowledge.
OK so:
1 - You're absolutely gorgeous
2 - I've finally found a clear and efficient porosity test on YT
Thank you !!
I am not a lover green eyeshadow, BUT you did that. Love the look. Rethinking the green now.
I’m still confused. My hair is both high and low porosity based on these questions
Makes sense. Just like 1 person can have more than 1 'hair type'. 💛
Then you have normal porosity literally
@@kennidytaylor literally you don't know what she has without seeing her hair firsthand but ok🙄
@@palladium607 miss thing that’s what it’s called when you have a mixture of the two. Just like how there’s dry, normal/combination, and oily skin. 🧐🤨
Ugh same!
Thank you
The makeup look with the hair is truly everything!
Yes Daye, please do a video on how to layer products and different loc variations pretty please!

Yessss to the laying and applying loc or lco !!!
Awesome video. I'm naturally high porosity. Please do a layering video. The struggle is really for high porosity.

Great visual!

Blimey, your hair is amazing! Super cool ;)

Great video. Could you do a video regarding high porosity whats the difference between a protein conditioner versed a protein treatment when is one needed?
i have a normal (sort of low) porosity but I did begin to use lighter gels to speed up the drying process
