I always felt that Godfrey's "oh dear oh dear" implied that he had to think for a while what to do, so I feel like he pondered it for a while at least, but yeah it's great that Manwaring went along with it all once he found out that it wasn't quite so bad, a softer spot from him there!

It was written by the same people Jimmy Perry and David Croft. As I remember the show was trailed on the BBC as 'by the same writers who gave you Dad's Army'

Not too sure if that episode could be shown today. Mainwaring making the joke that all Chinese people look alike could now be seen as being racist. No I don't understand myself, but I'm an old bugger!! One of the Spurs footballers was interviewed on TV and he said a similar thing.
