Arccos is superb for tracking your data and really easy to use once you're all synced up! Thankfully when I bought the sensors 10 years ago or so when they were just getting their name out there with Cobra, they had a lifetime membership included! 😀

Me too, until two of their V3's broke. Had to choose between the X5 and went for a Garmin s42.
Missing a lot of the stats but at least I'm not worried about it breaking after 5 rounds.

I tried the Link and it's auto-tracking capability was very unreliable, missed a tonne of shots, even though I wore on my belt on left side. I didn't want to use my phone to track shots, so I definitely wasn't going to be paying a subscription for shoddy hardware. I gave away the Link and sensors on Facebook marketplace as there really is no resale value for a subscription-dependant service. Switched to a Shotscope X5 watch and could not be happier. No need to scan the tags, just assign them in your app. The whole experience is more seamless and enjoyable and my X5 auto-track does not miss shots!! NO SUBSCRIPTION is the hands down winner for Shotscope.

Thanks for the full review. I migrated to Arccos from Game golf in 2020 (Covid Lockdown year, unfortunately) after purchasing my first set of custom fitted Cobra irons which came with Arccos. My experience has been mixed. I don't use or have any Apple products. It would be totally different, I think if I had a watch to sync with it. I find it misses a lot of shots - about 40 to 50% sometimes. I have to keep my phone in my pocket to keep it recording. Which I don't like. I had to pay extra for the link and it didn't work. I do like having the stats - there are loads of them, but I do have to do a lot of editing sometimes. It's also expensive. I have to pay and annual fee and I'm not always sure it's worth it. If I have a bad round I tend to delete it which slightly alters the data. You can exclude rounds from the stats if you like. I would rate it 9 out of 10 on data. 5 out of 10 on user-friendliness and 3 out of 10 on value for money.

I have no idea how people don’t play with something that tracks their shots! How do people know how far they hit? How do they choose a club? How do you know what you’re good at and bad at? How do you know what is really the area you need to work on?? I almost never play without it! I’m a 2 hcp and the data is incredible. Get Arccos!

One thing I love doing after my round of golf is to see how I did and where I can improve. I remember when devices like Arccos first came out around the same time as Game Golf which I know Mark used to use. Sadly Game Golf got into difficulties and are now back in the game with a subscription based system but nowhere as good as Shot Scope or Arccos is today. Now I prefer my Shot Scope as its a great system and to be honest they all offer practically the same things. All very good for the game and golfers regardless of abilities. Technology like Arccos and Shot Scope will keep getting better when new powerful tech and satellites are up and running and up in orbit :)

I'm a shotscope user and have found the insight from the data amazing. The app for Arcos looks far superior however, and being able to connect to a smartwatch of your choice would be a draw for a lot of people. That doesn't matter to me as I have a dumb watch for everyday use

Good video Mark. Like you I have used both Arccos and Shot Scope. I decided to stick with Shot Scope because the ease of use and the AFTER round editing. I found Arccos to be extremely clunky on the initial link up with phone and it had a higher miss rate than Shot scope. Like way more misses or too many phantom shots because of practice swings. I had the link, app, phone and watch just like you. I also didn’t like the monthly/yearly subscription price.
I currently use the H4 Shot scope and just tap location for each shot and collect pin location with a click of the button. I can make as many practice swings as I want and it only records one shot. Very minimal misses which leads to way less editing and more time spent reviewing my data.
Finally Shot scope permits more than 14 clubs. If I want to put different wedges, hybrids or other long iron options in as I change courses Shot scope is very seamless.

I tried Arccos but found it had a really hard time accurately picking up shots. I didn't have the Link device, but they say it isn't necessary if you have your phone in your pocket. Ultimately, I stopped using it because I had to adjust the data plus or minus 1-2 shots on every hole. I've heard people rave about the data it provides, and I agree when it was accurate, but spending 30-45 seconds editing the data every hole was maddening for me. I feel like they shouldn't sell this system without the Link if it's necessary to make the system work properly.
One minor issue as well, I didn't like the sensors on the end of the clubs. I found myself gripping on the sensor often enough that I had to start looking down where I was gripping. I feel like the grips with the built-in sensors are the better option. Just wish they weren't so expensive.
One a positive note, I did love the data it provides. I didn't play enough rounds with it to get any real strokes gained data, unfortunately. I loved the weather data in the app. Here in North Texas the wind is crazy, and often swirls around. Getting validation on the wind direction was a literal game-changer.

Shot Scope gives you everything for a one time fee, no monthly subscriptions. It's GPS watch may not be the sharpest looking on the market but it's fine. And they're customer support was great to me when my watches battery overheated. They shipped me a new watch right away.
As for accuracy, I only used Arcos with my woods and hybrids for the trial period I got when I bought them. Both do ok but need our help sometimes. By that I mean every round. Lol
Both will occasionally miss a shot and add distance to the one before it. And to get what you've done added into your stats you have to sign off on your round. If you want accurate numbers you need to check every hole for errors with either system.

    -Gen 3 smoke sensor
    -Link
    -Apple Watch 9
I open the app on the phone, track shots with link, and use my Apple Watch that mirrors the phone (turn gps of on the watch app so it doesn’t kill your battery). One round of golf will take 20-25% battery on the series 9. I think this is the perfect set up

If you need to edit your round and the pin and/or first putt is in the wrong position, then how do you edit it? Answer you need to step off every putt and record it (on your score card). Then you have what is needed for the edit. And, if you don’t do that, then your stokes gained putting vs approach/chipping will be way off. Imagine the GPS was off, your approach was 6 ft, but the gps (pin + 1st putt) said 15 ft in Arccos.
You also need to edit fairways hit if you are within a yard of the edge. You also need to edit the next shot as rough vs fairway. If the gps is wrong when in a bunker that shot might be marked as fairway; another shot to edit.
And then thee are the missed shots. Shoot an 82, Arccos says 68; shoot a 77, Arccos says 66. Oh, and I putt everything out and that doesn’t explain the fairway wood and pitching wedge approach missed.
That said, I still think it is worth it; but don’t underestimate the effort required. And DO NOT slow down play.

But I can honestly say ARCCOS has helped me. Who can say they know exactly what their tendencies might be with certain clubs. This data spells it out for you. I can go on and on with examples. This product is worth the investment.

Hi Mark - absolutely loving the videos and the pod at the mo. A question for you, as someone “re-finding” the game and essentially at beginner level again, is there value in the Arccos type stats when I can predict the low hanging improvement fruit will be pretty much everywhere? That said, it might be nice to see the improvements (hopefully) over time.

I am a beginner, 30+ hcp (i dont know exactly). The areas where i need to work on are pretty obvious. I got arccos because i am a data geek. Where i think it is helping after 5 rounds is showing me my true club distances. I take out all the duffs and tops, and use all the mediocre and better shots to calculate average. That helps me see which club to pull so if i do hit it at least average, the ball has a good chance of going where i expect.
The other thing is highlighting progress over time. I can see my short game and putting improving, and my driving getting worse. That is valuable to me.

Tried it for several years and gave up as it missed too many shots. Pity as the stats and analysis are class leading. I would go back if I could get the same type of tags that shot scope and the old Game Golf system used where you tap the end of the club on a sensor.

I tried the shot scope and the hand held lasers. I have the arccos sensors ,then you do not want your phone on you you need the link. I noticed he had a apple watch, does it work for the galaxy watch?? Just to expensive when you have just as good options out there. You still have to go into the app and fix things it missed just like shot scope. I ended with the sky caddie lx5 because I found it at a steal. All I need is to tell me about what yard I need to hit. I should have stayed with the golf pad for free. The stats are fine but as the round goes on you know where you f..up. I watch these you tube vids and every other month this one is better then the next. I guess it goes buy when they get it for free where we have to pay. I just want to play the game without the distractions. I know what I need to work on when I am playing the game. Just my opinion.

Used the system for a couple of years. But I question e.g. the putting stats accuracy. If the gps data is not accurate enough and I have to guess shot/pin locations after the fact what good is a statistic of 1m putts? I cannot guess the pin location accurately enough for that statistic. Neither can the GPS most days. Furthermore the app did not improve over time. I just checked it: I still have to switch to men’s tees before starting a round. The women’s tees will never be the ones I play from. So why not let me change the default? And when I forgot to change to the men’s tees and start the round I have to abort the round and the tracked shots are lost. There are a number of those issues that haven’t been fixed for years now. I want the system to work and would accept a few inconveniences. But for the total cost, there are too many. The Shotscope x5 unfortunately did disappoint, too. Seems like no good options out there at the moment.

so, looking at the shot tracking only and not the GPS, do you need to place the pin positions on the course via the phone 'in play'?

I notice how you have your Apple Watch Ultra the “wrong way up” ie the microphone is on your hand side…whereas all the Apple marketing (and me) has the dial on the hand side. Is that just your preference or was that also related to Arccos use to try to maximise your watch picking up shots from the clubs’ sensors? While it may not make a massive difference, perhaps worth others considering doing this if they find more shots than expected being missed? Am thinking of going down Arccos route but just trying to cut through the noise of those people saying it is the best thing ever and those who said it is dire and now in the bin! Subs are an issue, especially if have to be done annually, but sadly nothing is “free” these days.
