Excellent thorough review. Flashforge has this printer on clearance in the USA. They sent me a coupon for $10 off my first purchase for signing up on their website. So I bought one of these printers with the orange instead of the dark cover for $169 USD including shipping and sales tax. While I didn't really need another printer, it was hard to pass up at that price. They also surprised me with a free 500 mL bottle of the green Voxelab resin in my mailbox today a week after I received the FedEx delivery of the printer. BTW, the printer plate holes are a non-issue once you apply a magnetic flex plate.

Sounds like you got a good deal! valid point about the flex plate. I still think they are unnecessary and could have easily made rebuild, plate without the need for holes!

I think that film you took off the vat is the extra fep sheet - it has the corresponding holes for the vat - double check before you throw it out. Also, if you update ChituBox to the latest version, you will see that it accommodates for the FlashForge Foto 8.9.

Chitubox works fine, just have to either create a custom machine profile or edit the default Flashforge Foto 8.9 cfg file to allow to save svgx

I rkn based on the build plate holes and the software compatibility issues i'd pass on this printer. Thanks for the video the new calibration print looks good

Thanks for your comments @pureCrisp I understand your decision to pass on this one. I was pretty disappointed by the same issues, I'm surprised FF has done this, especially considering they are clearly aiming this towards the dental market. Thank you for this video - I literally *just* received my FFF 8.9 and was worried that the screw holes would cause a problem; it's clear that they will have some impact particularly on surfaces I'll want to be flat. That's a shame. Is there a 3rd party build plate, I wonder? I'll have to go looking for one.

G'day m8......i just bought my first resin printer in early march, Nova3D, Whale 2, 4K Mono with 8.9in and build of 192 x 120 x 250mm with WIFI, Lan and USB. I wonder if i can get 2sec expo with your resin, my eSun resin is like 3.5-4sec expo. Cause this Flashforge is so similar, i have bigger touch screen( i think) and my build plate and leveling is very differant. im currently waiting on buying a mini heater for inside my enclosure to keep my resin and build plate at the right temp. Cheers for the review on this mid level printer🤔 from a 50yr ol Lad in Brisbane

Good luck with your new hobby! Please feel free to reach out to us if you need any help with your new printer. Brisbane you might not need to worry about the heater? It’s probably Rezin dependent. I know some resins like the heat. rather than heating, the whole enclosure. Just remember to warm up the bild plate a little bit before you print. This will help with print failures on cold mornings.

I picked up one of these for $120 last week. It's solid built machine but the software sucks and it doesn't work with Chitubox because it does not have a Chitu board. You can edit the printer config for Chitubox to make it work but as far as I know things like retract speed cannot be set with the software. Has anyone had any luck finding software that woks well? FlashDL print doesn't even let you hollow the model.
