Mel Brooks' western parody "Blazing Saddles" was groundbreaking when it premiered in theaters 40 years ago, especially during the memorable campfire bean-eating scene. Blazing Saddles, a 1974 American satirical postmodernist Western black comedy film, was directed by Mel Brooks. Let's dive into this video as we look into facts you didn't know about this movie.

Blazing Saddles was Mel Brooks' third movie, not first. He did The Producers in 1967 and The Twelve Chairs in 1970.

14:15 I saw 'Blazing Saddles for the first time on TV, in the early 80s, and I remember the silent fart scene completely; I had to ask my mother what was going on. I also remember they censored the farts, but left in all the racial and sexual slurs.

4:57 looks like Susan Sarandon. Is this really Hedy Lamar? If so, she looks pretty young there still.

Susan Sarandon and then H. Rap Brown. Are these; Are you paying attention images?

Quite often in this sloppily compiled video the images have no connection to the narration. That's what happens when you let your film editor smoke pot while he's working.

Warner Brothers executives are prudish idiots! They would not allow Bruce Lee to be in "Kung Fu", because of their racist attitudes. But Bruce proved them SO wrong in "Enter the Dragon"! Thanks to Fred Weintraub who was the only smart co-producer from Warner Brothers.

Cowboys didn't eat canned beans. Give me a break. They carried dried beans, and the cook cooked up a big batch every few days, and they ate it until it was gone or went bad. It would have been incredibly heavy to carry pallets of canned food. I know this isn't a big part of the narrative of this video, but good lord, use your head.

@@itsakittyxox No, I was pointing out how ridiculous the video comments were. It's almost AI quality. Good, with a lot of mistakes mixed in. I mean I will give the guy credit for not including a microwave recipe.

@@Databyter oh for heaven’s sake’s! My bad! I misunderstood. I need more sleep but that’s no excuse! 😂 I’ve been reading or watching so much stupid stuff re politics that my sentiments rolled into Blazing Saddles! Defending Blazing Saddles against my misunderstood take on its use of beans and farts??? Now THAT… is problematic!😳 my apologies 🙇🏻‍♀️ Please let this upcoming election happen quickly as I fear I’m too eager to pick a fight over a fart scene in blazing saddles? Really??? That’s just wrong!
Thanks for your reply because I may not have stepped back from my crazy and simmered the f down! Holy cow!!! 🙇🏻‍♀️ 🙄
