The first time I'm seeing this video unbelievably. I've only seen her perform it live and always loved the simplicity and meaning of the song. She said in an interview a few days ago that of all the songs she has written, this is the one she believes is her best.

Sometimes I think you give the gift of sanity to others when you produce music from such a real, deeply emotional place. Thank you (all involved) for sharing that place with us so that we, too, may recognize and access that place within ourselves. (I'm trying to get into graduate school today, writing my personal statement, and this is the best kind of inspiration to keep at it!)
Heard this song being made in the studio and heard them sing it in concert in Indiana and just one of the best songs ever as always by my favorite band since 12yrs old..
I like to think of the clapping as a form of community cooperation and sharing - as well as a a space in the song where we can all come together...where anyone can join in and "share the moon."

Clapping - not creepy at all. A very grassroots, land-based addition to the music. When we make music and it's just us (human beings) and the land (without technology), you better believe our hands are going to be taking part in the creation celebration. If you're sharing the moon, sitting around a campfire and creating music, clapping is perfectly acceptable and, in fact, probably necessary. Hey, la la. (*)
