Amy and Emily are simply the best. I was lucky enough to conduct a concert with them in Portland with the Oregon Symphony. I’ll never forget that show!

Saw them at the Newport Folk Festival in 1990 and became an instant fan. A friend who was with me was just shaking his head after their set. "They're an acoustic version of The Who!"
I think my sister came home from there and introduced me to them. Loved their music, but didn't see them until a few years ago. They are amazing!!!
Saw them in '88 at the Cat's Cradle in Chapel Hill, NC - which was then a tiny venue, maybe 100 could fit. Amazing performance - Amy played so hard she broke a string. Clearly not for the first time, as she calmly finished the song and replaced it.
OMG. We must meet. You are my people. I am a front row, traveling Who fan (fell in love with them in 1982, been on tour since 1989, including seeing Roger on Monday in San Diego). I am also a front row, traveling Indigo fan since 1989. Your friends quote absolutely made my night!
I was getting into their music in 1992. I bought tickets and my friend got us a ride to Newport folk festival. It was the year they did the 4 voices with Chapin and Joan.
@@mtiedemann11 Saw them in a theater just a few years ago and they had their guitar tech (Amy's partner, I think) and her work table right on stage with them. Fun to watch how she was repairing and tuning as they played!

It’s impossible to pick my fave IG song, but “Ghost” probably has the most stunning lyrical turns packed into it. One after another for five solid minutes. Just gorgeous.

I love the Indigo Girls. Once after a concert i briefly talked to them (well, fangirling but not in a creepy way) and Emily shook my hand. been a while ago but some things you'll never forget.
I love to hear how amazingly supportive their parents were in every way.

Oh my gosh I never noticed, but actress Kerry Kinney-Silver could be their sister. She looks so much like them! They are legendary.
These ladies need more recognition! They are iconic singer-songwriters and LGBTQ+ icons. Seth is also my favorite late night host, so thank you for bringing these amazing musicians to your show! Everyone needs to know their ENTIRE discography beyond just Closer To Fine and Galileo (but in truth, Galileo is just the best!)
Galileo and that whole album was on heavy rotation in our home, back in the day. I just loved that song. Closer To Fine was also an extremely meaningful song for my friend group a bit later. These are amazing songwriters and performers and fabulous queer icons. Thanks for having them on!

Amazing woman - seen their shows a dozen times and it never gets old.
I was lucky enough to go to the same high school. I was in Amy’s grade and Emily was a year older. Amy is and was very nice. Great photographer. I still have the photo she took of Steve Perry. My friends and I saw Amy play at the Hilton in Tucker and with REM and at the high school, which is now a middle school.
I used to see both of them in Mr. Lloyd’s classroom all the time in deep conversation. By the way we shouldn’t have been in school with 12th graders when we were in 8th. I had 12th grade football players in my 8th grade math class. Not a good idea. As an 8th grader it was scary being in school with 12th graders at that time period 1978-1982.

I have so many great memories around going to their concerts. Seen them 4 or 5 times live & met them twice. 1st time I saw them they opened for an Irish band called Hothouse Flowers in the late '80s who I was there to see. Hadn't heard of The Indigo Girls at all. They weren't even on the bill except as 'guests' lol. They walked onto the stage w/just their acoustic guitars. I was a bit skeptical but then they started playing & singing & it was like there was a full band there w/them. They were phenomenal & I was won over. I went to Tower records the next day & asked if they had their album but they did not. This was about 6 months before their major label debut came out, so I had to wait. Their 1st album wasn't widely available till several years after their major label proved to be a huge success.
Love them so much. Wish I got that streaming service. I bet that doc is AMAZING!!! I hope they post their performance on the show tonight!!! I missed it

Fan since 1988, saw them with R.E.M. and about 15 times, Lilith Fair, so many great concerts. Genuine people and always ahead of the curve on issues and support.
Amy’s SIL was one of my best friends growing up.

I went to a concert in San Diego 30+ years ago with a VIP ticket. I loved them then. I didn't go to concerts (still don't), but I loved their music and I loved the fact they were lesbians. I still have a soft spot for lesbians. I remember saying to them, "I would have made a good lesbian." Emily said, "It's not too late." That is a very dear memory. I'm so glad you had them on!!
We've seen the nearly a half-dozen times live, always one of my favorite bands! I think one of their albums is in my queue every month!
