    You really did an outstanding job on this video, I'm glad it got some views. Most people have no idea how hard it is to get video of fiddly work like this. You do a great job and you have a great channel.

      Thank you. Sadly I lost access to it back in October 2023 when my Google account was closed and discovered that youtube has no live help on staff to assist us. They just send you to a forum full of people posting questions, but nobody is answering them.
      I may start a new channel but haven't decided yet. Happy flying!

      Well if I were in your shoes I'd just start over on a new channel featuring the Volantex line of warbirds. They're popular on Amazon and you've done the manual labor already. Just a thought since "how to" videos tend to hold their value.

    Nice Conversion! I'm glad they finally put some foam hatches on the airframe to make things easier. Now, if they would make the wing removable ;-) See you in the Air!

      Agreed. Xk did it with the P-40 and the F8F Rare Bear, and Eachine's P-47 also had a separate wing. Truly, I never owned an RC plane that did not have a removable wing until I started flying these micros.
      Happy flying!

    Keen to find out how the stock prop saver handled the extra juice. I wanted to do the same as this but assumed the props would just fly off haha. Looks like you’re getting more throw on elevator and rudder with those servos too! Love your work.

      Thanks. The terrible pop-off prop hub was discarded immediately. Those things sometimes come off in mid-flight with the stock brushed motors.
      I use a prop adapter that is held on to the shaft with a set screw. See it demonstrated here: ruclips.net/video/e1hPKCGKz24/видео.htmlsi=RkDU8hJQLDuws1sg

    BTW..Sorry Dogg... Music sucks a bit today... I normally love your background retro music... Hope you film the maiden on this one.

      Not a YES fan I see. No worries. Progressive Rock has always been my favorite genre, but the songs are more complex and take a few listens to learn and truly enjoy. Some just get better and better with time. The last song at 6:06 ("Roundabout") typically gets rave reviews by first-time listeners.

    It would have been interesting to see how the stock ESC held up to the 2S motor and battery. Have you tried that before? I've used the Three blade prop and spinner, from the Zero,
    on my T-28 and Cub, and it seems to make about the same thrust as the two blade, but it gives more ground clearance, whith the landing gear on. Also, the three blade will reduce the roll rate slightly, as the smaller diameter doesn't overlap the ailerons as much. I haven't tried the four blade yet. Thanks for the video. I can't wait to see this 51 and your Rare Bear fly.

    • @Doggeslife
      @Doggeslife  Год назад

      You are in luck. I did test the onboard ESC first, but the workload appeared to be too much for it. the motor would start to surge and then the ESC would cut out, the red LED on the receiver blinking until I pull the throttle stick back down to zero power.
      I think it may have something to do with the timing setting, but I've had no luck changing them even though I am suppose to be able to. These 2 and 4 pole inrunner motors like lower timing settings than most outrunners.
      I had my camera recording, so I made a short video of the first test. See it here: ruclips.net/video/gyQxLTL6pFY/видео.html
      Happy flying!

      Hello.
      If you check the links at the end of the video there is one for the maiden flight of my first 2S micro mustang build. It's basically the same plane with a different paint scheme. Performance will be similar too.
      Note that I fly without landing gear because they fly better and because real Mustangs do not fly around with the retractable wheels down. The planes are so light that you can just stall them over the grass and they lightly plop down.

      Thanks. If you've seen the other 2S Mustang I did a few years back (see link at end of video) , I expect this one to be a bit quicker. It may need the more efficient 2-blade prop to do so, but we'll see.
      Happy Flying!

    The 400mm P-40 has a unique main board that uses a different radio protocol and has 2 open ports on it one for Futaba S-bus and one for spektrum satellite. Makes a world of difference flying with a better radio.

      I have a p-40. What are some of the benefits of a better tx ? Is it just a minor “feel” over the stock tx or are there more?

    • @jordancoleman2402

      @@experiential being able to dial in expo, turn down the gain in the gyro and more exact pots on the sticks makes it feel like a much larger airplane and in my opinion much funner to fly.

    • @Doggeslife
      @Doggeslife  Год назад

      Greetings.
      These are not Eflite planes sold by Horizon. They are sold under brand names like EACHINE and VOLANTEX. These are made of a more flexible foam (EPP) and are more durable than typical Styrofoam airframes. You can buy them at places like Banggood.com and AliExpress.com. among other locations. I also find things like motors and ESC's on eBay.
      Happy flying!

      Cheers to the U.K. and the good people who call it home.
      In the 1980s "Ready-To-Fly" was almost non-existent and the best you had besides balsa kits were ARF (ALMOST READY to FLY) kits with foam or built up airframes. You had to buy and install your own radio systems and engine/fuel systems. The Ranger 42 was one of my favorites (I went through 4 of them):
      i.servimg.com/u/f62/16/84/28/46/tm/1_26.jpg
      My last Ranger was highly modified:(Taken around 1983). I was learning things:
      static.rcgroups.net/forums/attachments/3/9/2/3/9/7/a8526055-49-CGRange%2042.OS.10FSR.jpg
      I still feel the build is the best part of the hobby. Everyone's planes look different even if built from the same kit. The level of pride in one's collection was tremendous. All one-of-a-kind instead of the cookie cutter aircraft most fly today.
      So this is my way of improving and making these uniquely mine and nobody else's. I make videos to try to inspire others to do likewise, and some have! Hope you might too someday. One can only truly learn by doing.
      Happy flying!

    • @AirDOGGe
      @AirDOGGe 2 месяца назад +1

      That would not included AS3X for flying aerobatics on windy days. The stock electronics only provide wing leveling stabilized mode or full manual with no anti-gust protection. Self-leveling mode is too restrictive and these planes are too small and light to deal with the turbulent windy conditions I see almost every day. AS3X is almost a must and pretty much every micro sold by Horizon has it for the reasons stated. When I had my pre-AS3X Parkzone P-51 in 2011 it was almost impossible to fly outside because the rough air just tossed it around like a dry leaf. Now with AS3X it flies more like my much bigger aircraft did.
      Plus just adding a sat RX means no massive 2S brushless motor horsepower to aim for the moon with. ;-)
