‘Meridian network” refers to traditional Chinese medicine’s view of energy flows throughout the body and is the system whose stimulation is central to the practice acupuncture. Meridians allow for the flow of energy, known as Qi (pronounced “chee”), to circulate throughout the body. Meridians exist in corresponding pairs and each meridian has multiple acupuncture points along the pathway.
Confirm. The meridian system is central to Hindu-Buddhist medicine as well as to Traditional Chinese Medicine / TCM. When people use the word "meridian" in the context of the human body it always means TCM meridian. There are major and minor meridians. Meridians often relate directly to organ systems. A meridian is not a physical structure per se but more of an energy flow. You do not find meridians in human tissue under the microscope, so far as I know. A primary way to balance or stimulate meridians is via needle [ acupuncture ] on specific meridian points / acupuncture points that are found on the skin.

Yes, exactly what I was thinking! Before, they mentioned that Dorothea was the granddaughter of Raquella. And when they talked to Lila, they told her that Raquella was her great great grandmother or something. Which means she can’t be Dorothea’s daughter since that would just make her Raquella’s great granddaughter.

Everyone comes in on equal footing - blind. There's no book reader to spoil it for you lol
The voice not working on him had nothing to do with training from the BG. It's always worked on everyone. Even on Paul and he was more powerful than most. This is something else we haven't seen before.
Yeah I was thinking that too. It seems to me like no one would have more training in all aspects of "the voice" than the mother reverend superior Gaius Helen Mohiam... and even she couldn't resist Paul's voice telling her to be silent, all she can do is respond with "abomination!" So if even she cannot resist it, can anyone really? I'm right there with you that Desmond is something else entirely and is totally unaffected by the voice for reasons other than training against it.
There's a huge backstory before Dune Prophecy. Reverend Mother Rachella was firstly a medical doctor, working alongside her lover, Dr. Mohandas Suk. Rachella is also an illegitimate granddaughter of Vorian Atreides (Vorian was the first person to hold the Atreides name.) Dr. Mohandas Suk later created on his own the Suk School, after Rachella decided to stay in planet Rossak and become the first Reverent Mother of the Sisterhood. The events in Dune Prophecy happen way after The Sisterhood moved from Rossak to Wallach IX.
Dorotea cant be lilas mother. She was killed 30 years ago. Lila is a kid. Blue eyed bartender is her mother. Dorotea even says "is that what they told you to get you to come? Im sorry granddaughter she isnt here".

I think Valya knows Jen is a plant, and is playing her , waiting for her to slip up. Remember in Episode 1, Valya asks her in front of everyone, “explain to everyone why you are here”, then she gives the story of slitting throats and ZFG. Then Valya’s strange look…
Jen could also be a red herring. She might be with Valya and is helping her weed out weak candidates by seeing who falls the most for negative views on the Bene Gesserit. Who better to seek out those who will betray you than a loyal student willing to play the devils advocate. She also seems way too obviously ‘bad’ if that makes sense, the writers would be incredibly obvious if they went through with that. Instead it would make more sense for an ally of Desmond to be in the background or seem above board.

Interesting how the telekinetic buzzing sound is similar to the box of pain from Dune pt 1. Maybe Desmond is how they discovered how to put that pain in to a box.
Well if it is based somewhat on the Brian Herbert books, I suspect that Desmond Hart is one of the twins of Agamemnon that Juno activated. I’ve never read the books 😬 but I grew up loving 1984 Dune and the tv series. But I was always most fascinated by the bene. So I was chomping at the bit when they released the trailer for Prophecy. But bc of my lack of book knowledge, there’s a lot I’m missing and don’t understand. So this is my long way of saying thank you for your videos. Not only do they point out things I missed, they help me understand the Dune universe and my rewatch makes so much sense haha. So, thank you 🙏 Can’t wait for next weeks video 😂
I think he's a Ghola or Face Dancer. In the books the Tleilax hate the Bene Gesserit and vice versa because of the Axlotl Tanks. Also, they know how to genetically manipulate their Gholas and Face Dancers to be immune to the voice.
We know the flow of history in the dune universe for the most part. So we can assume how a lot of this ends up. But it will be interesting to see how they work within pre-existing canon to try and be unpredictable to book readers.
I love that they are introducing more deeply into the lore of Dune, which is so so big. Kudos for another well explained for another great episode. just a little something: it would be cool if you could start or finish with the Dune like of greeting "The Spice must flow" ;)
The episode with the Agony was so much better than how they showed the memories in the film. That is how I felt the scene was when I read the book. I will admit that I just felt a little let down by that in the movie. Really great series so far to me.
I just want to say thank you. You always break everything down so well and that makes shows, movies and even books more enjoyable. Your content is always top notch and shows your dedication to researching the background of each topic so you can speak knowledgeably about each character. I don’t think we give enough credit to content creators who don’t get paid to do these videos but love the content, so thank you. You are appreciated more than you know. ❤
My initial reaction to the actress (Chloe Lea) who plays ‘Lila’ 8:54 is that she could have been ‘Nettles’ in HoTD in my imagination. I’d really like to know if she was considered for that part before the storyline was scuttled, and then was cast in “Dune: Prophecy”. Just a thought. *Edited to add: When you mentioned ‘Desmond Hart’ as a possible gola, I realized why I got ‘Duncan Idaho’ vibes about that character since Episode 1. 🤔
Haha "spice bump" well done Charlie. All jokes aside, this was a banger review epidode. Gola is interesting and likely the case to set up the future movies. Only best theory I have is something related to machines since it was referenced back to back episodes. This extra lore knowledge was amazing. It seems they dump a lot of lore but difficult to understand, thanks for tying it all together!
Pretty sure the Two Wolves is a reference to the parable that says, There are two wolves inside you, one good, one evil. The one that wins is the one you feed.
I believe Dorotea is Lila’s grandmother. She was lied to that her mother died in childbirth, because her mother is not in the tomb and we may yet see her in the show.
Honestly I think it’s going pretty good overall in terms of acting. Desmond is clearly the most interesting character thus far, but almost everyone has been fairly captivating, and I enjoy the plot progression so far
Desmond could for sure be a gola imo, but I really think Desmond has something to do with the emperor reaching back in time to help push things towards a certain direction.
@@Blablablabla-i8q are you asking or telling? It’s only 6 eps so yes that would be, but they really didn’t puddle in the mud this episode, it’s been moving kinda fast.
Great breakdown Emergency! I wanted to learn more about the Dune world so i was glad the show finally dropped. I remember them talking about making one. Eventually im going to read the books. I dont know much about Desmond or the lore of Dune (even though ive seen the first two movies) but i think he might be a child of one of the women. Idk im just throwing a wild guess as to how he knows how to go against them. This episode and series so far is phenomenal
Hi Emergency Awesome ,l know people are excited for Sonic 3, but you gotta remember Kraven is also coming to theaters December 13; A movie that not a lot of people are willing to watch. We should give Kraven a chance, especially with its director and the number of reshoots they had; to make it more "comic accurate". Hopefully it's good, and I, for some reason, have a feeling that it's going to be decent. My question is: "Do you think Kraven, although the speculation of it's Box Office Opening, has a chance to be one of the better Solo Villain Spider man movies?". Hopefully that's the case. Final thing: You’re great, you make my day every time you upload videos. Thanks.
Hello,Great video! I believe Desmond may have a connection to the Bene Tleilax, possibly as a Tleilaxu, shape-shifter, face dancer, or ghola. This would position him as a significant adversary to the Bene Gesserit. Gesserit and Thleilaxu are enemies in the books. Best regards,
@@benjamin8459agreed. But it has some time to grow, and ultimately it needs to builds its world without using the films. Hopefully it builds up from here
I think the blue eyes in the prophecy vision are those of a machine. They resemble the eyes of the lizard, with the same shade of blue and glassy appearance.
I agree... but I do not know if he came to be....... by worm..... or was made in a lab. Story could go two directions.... they breed with him or they exposé his true origin....lol never thought I would type that lol. Excited to find out.
Nah I don’t think they use him more than what he stands for.. he was reborn in spice inside the worm.. he prob doesn’t have to ability to see forward in time or even backwards. But perhaps the ability to manipulate the meridian network which I think is the hypothalamus. He prob has see through bullshit. He uses religion as a way into the emperor’s inner circle as this is an easier pill to swallow.. which the bene use on Arrakis
@bbmnb potentially I'm leaning towards him being a accidental quask heridrach prototype because the ix don't have advanced tech yet in the timeline and during this period the people who made gholas I forgot their name havnt perfected that cloning tech and still at most can only clone body parts, so if this show was set a couple thousands yrs later then the ix or ghola theories would be more viable
I love that many of these comments prove to be useful when it comes to unraveling every single clue and theory that I'm not aware of even after repeated viewing, the same can be said to the recently brilliant Marvel show Agatha All Along.
I haven't seen anybody mention that Desmond says "Shai-halud took my eye and gave me a great gift" but I have no idea what kind of meaning could be behind it but it sounds important
I like to believe he's a protype quask hedrach so the sand worm maybe have partially fused some blood or something to heal him making him slightly sand worm like leto 2 later becomes, a popular theory is leto 2 went back in time to fuck with Desmond to make sure the Timeline goes down a certain path to ensure the events of dune take place
Man even without Denis in charge this has been amazing. The cinematography, writing, political intrigue and twists have been great. Travis Fimmel and Valya’s actress are the big highlights but I’m loving all the Bene Gesserit stuff we’re getting. As someone who hasn’t read the books yet, seeing the world fleshed out is great
I don't think Desmond is a ghola, because Hayte was the first ghola to remember his past life as Duncan Idaho. I believe surviving the sandworm have Desmond the mental abilities he uses because of how immersed in the spice he was in such close proximity to the sandstorm.
"If you know, you know." I'd love to see the Butlerian Jihad but, man, would it be expensive to do right. I have got to get back to the books. I'm part way through Children of Dune. I think the ancestors scene was so well done.
It feels a bit slow in some way. Specially for being six episodes only. But don't get me wrong, I like it and can't wait for the next episode. And I'm just so happy we're getting more from the Dune universe. More!
The water of life is ony used in the ascending ritual on Arakis by the Sayadinas. This is stated during Jessica's transformation. As she is transmuting the water of life, and turning it into a party drug, she muses about being unsure which specific poison the Bene Geserits use in their normal ritual. All we are given is that Transmuting a poison is necessary to activate prescience and access the genetic memories.
My theory: Desmond is a thinking machine in Human Shape and form. And that's why he cannot be sensed of lying or even controlled by the voice. He can roast someone by maybe microwaving them from his parts.
I'm not a Dune book reader but the movies and this show have got me hooked. It's not too hard to understand, it's just you have to listen well. I got confused about the agony ceremony. Isn't the blue poison originally the sand worms blood?
Rayna butler is the grand niece of serana butler the one responsible for the butler jihad along with Xavier harkonnnen ( ancestors of both harkonnnen and corrino ) and vorian artreides, she sacrificed herself to save the crusade and Xavier stop and evil priminister by sacrifices himself but then got frame for it which is why the rayna and her uncles ( Xavier grandchild ) change there name to butler.
I'm so excited for this series and I love your videos. Correct me if im wrong though but isn't the landsraad and the emperor two seperate bodies. The landsraad balances the emperors power so he doesnt have full control. Which is why in the original dune book. He killed Duke atreides because he was popular in the landsraad. Also I dont think Desmond is a gola because the teilaxu wouldn't be around during this period
I also don't think that Desmond is trained in thier ways because the voice is a new technique here that valya creates as she mentioned in the first episode. And Paul used it against a reverend mother in dune part 2 and it worked just fine
The other option is Omnius. Those space eyes had a metallic electronic sound and feel to them.i also think Desmon is at least part machine and the Ixians are definitely involved

So this is my long way of saying thank you for your videos. Not only do they point out things I missed, they help me understand the Dune universe and my rewatch makes so much sense haha. So, thank you 🙏 Can’t wait for next weeks video 😂
As a person who never read the books, I gotta say I love this show
I love how the auto-craption says bandages instead of Bene Gesserit 😂
When Desmond defied her voice, all I could think was...King Ragnar, that is my name!
I think he's a Ghola or Face Dancer. In the books the Tleilax hate the Bene Gesserit and vice versa because of the Axlotl Tanks. Also, they know how to genetically manipulate their Gholas and Face Dancers to be immune to the voice.
I thought that Valya better quickly leave that room with Desmond, before he cooks her, after her voice failed. 😲
Wow, thank you!
I like watching your episode breakdowns because I can tell you have also read the source material. Thanks!
I think Doratea's faction is mounting an insurgency in the sisterhood. Desmond is their weapon.
Ooh I like it!
That’s a great insight.
That’s definitely the vibe I got when Lila underwent the agony
Pretty sure the Two Wolves is a reference to the parable that says, There are two wolves inside you, one good, one evil. The one that wins is the one you feed.
I believe Dorotea is Lila’s grandmother. She was lied to that her mother died in childbirth, because her mother is not in the tomb and we may yet see her in the show.
Desmond is carrying this show so hard.
I agree. Which is ironic as he’s a terrible actor in every show except Vikings.
@@ttrestle Fimmel is terrible ? wait what??
Facts. Everything else isn't interesting which is crazy
@ ugh. You ppl are the worst.
Nice theory! We'll probably learn more about him by the middle of the season.
Next week is a mid season ?! 😭😭
@@Blablablabla-i8q are you asking or telling? It’s only 6 eps so yes that would be, but they really didn’t puddle in the mud this episode, it’s been moving kinda fast.
@@donniebrascowitz3305 sorry for the confusion, this episode has been so good. Thinking about it would be mid season next week made me sad lol
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Charlie! Thank you for all your hard work, your videos are great and entertaining!
Happy holidays!
Thanks.
Greatly Appreciate your Breakdowns for this very mysterious series. Keep up the good work.
Best regards,
Great analysis. You talked about things I didn't notice. Thank you!
Thanks!
It’s getting better and better each episode…
We'll get a deep dive in the Harkonnens right now in the timeline next week in Episode 3.
@@emergencyawesome Hi it seems im a first responder cause these comments are frrrreshhhh
@@emergencyawesome cannot wait. I have the same energy and anticipation like I had with HOTD this year
Great visuals, great actors... incredibly boring storytelling. This is like the fourth show this year about witches, enough is enough.
My money is on Desmond being the precursor for kwistaz where the Bene Gessirt intertwin this with their breeding program as the end goal.
I agree... but I do not know if he came to be....... by worm..... or was made in a lab.
That's exactly what I was thinking!
What has hypothalamus to do with that ?@@alejo56789
Thanks for the episode by episode breakdowns. These videos are so good
i was thinking Desmond Hart could be a Face Dancers.
I also heard in speculating threads, that he could be a Ghola? Or Ix related, is that possible? sorry I haven't read the books yet.. 😅
That would be awesome
@bbmnb potentially I'm leaning towards him being a accidental quask heridrach prototype because the ix don't have advanced tech yet in the timeline and during this period the people who made gholas I forgot their name havnt perfected that cloning tech and still at most can only clone body parts, so if this show was set a couple thousands yrs later then the ix or ghola theories would be more viable
WOW, many thanks for all the infos. Super interesting!
Thx for making these videos Charlie, it’s very helpful.
glad you're doing this series
Love valya tried using the voiced on Desmond and he just taunting him
Meridian is a Traditional Chinese Medicine term it conducts the flow of chi
Ragnor lodbrok best psrt of the show
Ragnar Lothbrook is still a visionary
The emperor listening to his wife and hiring Desmond is gonna be his downfall. He already looks drunk on the new power he has
It's a great breakdown there's a lot about June I don't know so that added information is great
Thank you for this bc I had to watch this episode couple of times bc I didn’t understand what was happening 😅
Your run downs and history background is sooo helpful. I have to watch your videos to really understand what is going on in the shows. Thank you!
Awesome! Thank you!
I love your vids on Dune! Desmond is an interesting character played by a very skilled actor.
I love these breakdowns!!!!!
Thanks Charlie great update
No problem 👍
I love that many of these comments prove to be useful when it comes to unraveling every single clue and theory that I'm not aware of even after repeated viewing, the same can be said to the recently brilliant Marvel show Agatha All Along.
Great stuff as always Charlie. Thank you for doing what you do 😊
I haven't seen anybody mention that Desmond says "Shai-halud took my eye and gave me a great gift" but I have no idea what kind of meaning could be behind it but it sounds important
Great breakdown Charlie
This episode was fantastic so much better than last week the spice trance was flawless cinema.
Man even without Denis in charge this has been amazing. The cinematography, writing, political intrigue and twists have been great. Travis Fimmel and Valya’s actress are the big highlights but I’m loving all the Bene Gesserit stuff we’re getting. As someone who hasn’t read the books yet, seeing the world fleshed out is great
Travis Fimmel's character is like watching "Raised by Wolves" again.
Charlie, you are on fire with this recap! Lisan al gaib level! 🙌 (edit: I don’t mean Desmond fire 😳)
Spice is a hell of a drug
I don't think Desmond is a ghola, because Hayte was the first ghola to remember his past life as Duncan Idaho. I believe surviving the sandworm have Desmond the mental abilities he uses because of how immersed in the spice he was in such close proximity to the sandstorm.
Please keep doing episode by episode breakdown!!!!
"If you know, you know."
I'd love to see the Butlerian Jihad but, man, would it be expensive to do right.
More!
Nice!
My theory:
Desmond is a thinking machine in Human Shape and form. And that's why he cannot be sensed of lying or even controlled by the voice. He can roast someone by maybe microwaving them from his parts.
Wait, there’s a new dune TV show? Definitely have to go watch that. I canceled cable but it’s still easy to watch
Looking forward to seeing Fremen on the show, they are badass👍
THANK YOOOOOU Charlie!!!! 😊😊🎉
He's so Ragnar and my little Viking heart is so happy 🐦⬛

Olivia Williams portrayed the first live action Moira McTaggart. Emily Watson I remember from Equilibrium portraying the onscreen wife to Sean Bean the clerk.
You mean in "X 3" ??? 😮😮😮That was Olivia Coleman ? Or am I completely wrong now ?? 😅😅
@@michaelerb7316 X-Men: The Last Stand is X3. That is Olivia Coleman. Her role was very limited which sucked.
@Brook11223 yes, that's true, I meant "X-Men: The Last Stand". THAT is Olivia Coleman ??? 😳😳😳Unbelievable, I have to rewatch the third Movie. I never knew that. Thank you for the Information. 👍👍👍
Olivia Williams, not Colman
@@artbysabra My bad I thought I said Williams and it's corrected. LOL.
