Saved me $375 from that the garage door service was going to charge. Took me 20-25 min to do my RV garage door, and cost $25-30 on Amazon for the rollers! Thanks!!
Thank you for a straight forward, no BS how to video. I did this on a 35 year old door. I cleaned the years of gunk out of the tracks and replaced the roller with the Z rollers. Using another video I adjusted the chain tension. It is now so quiet when it goes up and down it’s like having a brand new door…total cost $30 for 10 rollers. Thank you, Thank you
So I watched this after I did my install, great tip on the bending of the track. I took mine off like you did at first except I left the top screw in each bracket and moved the brackets over as they pivoted on the top screw to remove the rollers. I lifted the door all the way up and removed the bottom bracket with no issues as there was very little tension on them. The top bracket has a single screw on top you can remove so you don't have to remove the whole bracket like you did so your way with the track bend and my way with the top bracket single screw.
Before you take a hinge off, mark its position with a sharpie (felt pen) to put it back in exactly the same position. They are adjustable up and down, you want it back where it was.
That’s exactly what I was thinking when looking at mine yesterday. I wouldn’t have attempted to do this, but watching his video gave me the push to do it myself. 😊
Straight forward instructions that worked like a charm. And doing it myself saved me about $120 compared to a quote I received to do the same. Thank you!
I just replaced mine in 15 minutes. THANK YOU! My door hardly makes a sound now and runs as smooth as glass. I did secure vise grips on the track just to make sure the door wasn't going to move.
Great tip for replacing the bottom rollers. For those that don’t realize the cable a simple job can easily turn into a nightmare. Thumbs up 100% thanks.
Great video. Really good description. The only thing you missed was making sure folks bend back the roller as others have said. Honestly, if folks are attempting this themselves they should be savy enough to put it back.
The last example for replacing the rollers was to bend the metal track that guides the rollers outward. Once the new rollers are installed you have to "re-bend" that track back in to be parallel so the rollers will stay in. @@xMissPriss09x
I had a new garage door installed by this company and I am very happy with the results. The technician who came to my home was very knowledgeable and helped me choose the perfect style and color to match my home. He completed the installation quickly and efficiently, and took the time to show me how to operate the new system. I would definitely use this company again for any garage door needs.
Awesome video! Direct and to the point I followed your directions and was finished in less than and hour saving me a few hundred dollars I'm sure! Than you Sir!
Before you start bending the track try rolling the door all the way up and see how much slack there is in the cable. I tried the method demonstrated in this video and it is not as easy as it looks, especially if there is very little clearance between the outside of the track and adjacent walls. It is hard to get enough leverage. Also, examine the bottom bracket. On my doo,r the cable bracket is bolted to the door and the roller bracket is bolted to the cable bracket so I was able to remove the roller bracket without unbolting the cable bracket.
Absolutely a great, no-nonsense, straight to the meat of the coconut video. I didn’t think this was going to be a difficult task initially anyway, but the video makes it look easier than giving out Halloween candy. Thanks again; much obliged!!!!
Would be useful to hear the sound difference between a garage with metal rollers/normal hinges and then with the hinges and rollers replaced to sound more quiet.
Hello thank you for this video. Just curious is it necessary to lubricate the rollers with grease or any other type of lubricant after they've been replaced? Thank you!
Some people recommend putting a heat shrink wrap over the roller to cut down on noise and vibration. What say you? If so, what thickness of wrap would one use?
Is there any lube that should go in before replacement? A coat of oil on the bearings on the rollers? a coat of grease on the rollers shaft? A coat of grease on the tracks? Seems to be missing, if for no other reason, than to prevent rust? Thoughts?
When the garage door is up there is little to no tension on the bottom bracket. It’s just the weight of the spring. Why not unbolt the bottom one when the door is up? Just wondering. Thanks.
Great video - thanks! Got the top 4 per side replaced by just unscrewing the bolts. Wasn't able to get the bottom two out with the prying method. Maybe I'm too weak or maybe I didn't bend it out far enough. I assume leaving these two bottom ones in is not an issue?
Thank you for a great video. A medium effort DIY looks like. One dumb question, if you're anywhere bending the railing to replace the bottom most roller, why not use it for all the 5 rollers without having to unscrew and re-screw all of those?
Great video, but it is not necessary to bend the tracks and permanently affecting their reliability. There should be enough slack in the cable for the bottom rollers when door is fully open to safely remove the bottom bracket without bending metal. If there isn't, you can simply lift door all the way to top, disengage carrier, and remove the bottom rail section. Then carefully lower the door and you will be able to slip out the old roller and replace with new one. Push door back up, reattach lower rail and done.
Hmm the tracks rebend right back to original position. I will continue doing this over removing the bottom rail or bottom bracket cause it works great, channel locks work good. Also some doors have waaay more spring tension then others so be very careful removing that bottom bracket....
Just check my door and yep: plenty of slack in the cable when raising the doorn fully open. Think I might be replacing the rollers on my 30+ year old door using your advice and the tips in this video. Many thanks!
Our door sounds like a freight train. It's actually two doors, and they are both obnoxiously loud. After watching this video, I went to the garage to see what kind of rollers were on there currently. They are black. Are they black because they're steel or are they black nylon? How can I tell? Also, for lubricating the hinges, is white lithium grease the same as silicone? Oh, and my doors are solid wood, so are nylon ones strong enough??? Maybe since they're half-doors it'll be ok? Thanks so much.
I just purchased a set of dura lift rollers, I noticed my old metal rollers have a type of bushing in the side of the roller, I am guessing it prevents too much movement of the door, I am worried that the duralift rollers might bind up in the hinge, they don't have this type of side bushing. I hope this makes sense, any type of lubrication on the hinge?
After disabling the grave doors electrical power. Raise the door alway up past is upward rest position. It can never pushed past its upward rest position. Have someone keep the door pushed up. This will put enough slack in the cable to remove the lower brack and replace the bottom roller. I perform this proverdure by myself.
My door is off kilter and the roller at the top on the left is gone. I can't seem to roll the door all the way down. Any tips for getting at that top one?
I would have applied lithium grease to the roller shaft--and hinge joints. Annually is a typical re-lube interval. The bearing in most of those rollers is sealed.

Straight to the point without being boring!!! Great job, and Thank you!

Im happy it worked out great for you
Short and sweet, and no long intro. Thank you.
If I wouldn't have watched this the bottom bracket sure enough would of come off ....Thanks
Before you take a hinge off, mark its position with a sharpie (felt pen) to put it back in exactly the same position. They are adjustable up and down, you want it back where it was.
On all mine, the bottom hinge screw hole is not slotted, just a hole. Installing that screw first ensures proper alignment.
That’s exactly what I was thinking when looking at mine yesterday. I wouldn’t have attempted to do this, but watching his video gave me the push to do it myself. 😊
People just wanna complicate stuff to sound like they are some kind of expert. .
Can also put a Bondo plastic spreader between the door sections when removing the hinge so the top panels don’t drop once the hinge is removed.
This DIY video and ones like it are the crown jewel of RUclips. Thanks for the helpful tutorial.
Straight forward instructions that worked like a charm. And doing it myself saved me about $120 compared to a quote I received to do the same. Thank you!
Excellent, straight forward. REALLY appreciate the hint about bending the track!!
:)
Yes, but wish he'd shown how to bend the track back.
As a young home owner. You made my issue a whole lot easier. God bless
Same i just got my house and the door is making alot of noise
Lol we are all hear ahah squeaking garage door I was like this looks complex nah just a bit of muscle it turns out ahaha
Did it and worked well for this 77 year old dude.
Thanks for the heads up about the bottom bracket!
I just replaced mine in 15 minutes. THANK YOU! My door hardly makes a sound now and runs as smooth as glass. I did secure vise grips on the track just to make sure the door wasn't going to move.
Good tip.
Excellent video…super helpful in replacing the bottom wheel!!
Worked like a charm for me. Very quick and easy to do. I don’t see where it did any harm to the rails. Thanks
Thanks for this, simple and straight to the point for a DIY.
Great tip for replacing the bottom rollers. For those that don’t realize the cable a simple job can easily turn into a nightmare.
Thumbs up 100% thanks.

Six years later still paying dividends, thank you for your help, got my rollers replaced no stress
Quick and to the point while still being well explained and safety issues pointed out. Excellent video!
Awesome video! Direct and to the point I followed your directions and was finished in less than and hour saving me a few hundred dollars I'm sure! Than you Sir!
Thanks for the shortcut part , made replacing them so much easier !!
Glad it helped!
Watched this video once and then replaced the wheels on the garage door in 30-45 minutes. Great video, thank you for sharing.

Thom good thing you didn't pull the wrong screws 🙂
@@050Hidden I knew the danger and paid VERY close attention to how things were connected before I removed any bolts.
Best roller replacement video on RUclips. Thanks. Will be easy now.
Absolutely a great, no-nonsense, straight to the meat of the coconut video. I didn’t think this was going to be a difficult task initially anyway, but the video makes it look easier than giving out Halloween candy. Thanks again; much obliged!!!!
Thanks! I just replaced the middle hinge and roller in about 10 minutes. Runs great now!
I have to help my dad with his, thanks for making this seem easier than I'd thought.
Would be useful to hear the sound difference between a garage with metal rollers/normal hinges and then with the hinges and rollers replaced to sound more quiet.
Thank so much.
this is exactly what I was looking for it.
God bless u.
I appreciate. Like other mentioned straight to the point no 30 minute video. Able to watch before going to work
Exactly what I needed! Thank you.
You just made me look like I was a pro. Thank you Sir!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge to the community . 😇 thats my project for tomorrow.
You are so welcome!
did you end up doing it >?
Oh ! Yes , I did ; thank you. It was really easy after seeing your video .
Brother you just saved me about $300 thank you
Ditto! Straight to the point. THANK YOU. Nice job.
Hello thank you for this video. Just curious is it necessary to lubricate the rollers with grease or any other type of lubricant after they've been replaced? Thank you!
These rollers sound great. Thank you for the video and also the Amazon link to buy them.
Great tips. I'll put in my new rollers tonight. Thanks!
Thank you sir.. just the video that I needed!
Perfect, very informative and straight to the point. Doing this tonight!
Worked like a charm. it took 5 minutes.
Excellent video, excellent instructions..
Excellent description, thanks
Outstanding! Thanks for the help.
Great tip on that bottom roller ..Thanks
Some people recommend putting a heat shrink wrap over the roller to cut down on noise and vibration. What say you?
If so, what thickness of wrap would one use?
Simple and fast.not to much talk like the other videos.tankyou
Thanks for creating this video!
First of all, thank YOU! Only question, do you recommend greasing the new rollers ? Using the dura-lift nylon rollers
Great video. I followed it exactly and it worked great. Thanks so much!
Do you need to grease the roller when you slide it into the tube?
Thanks for the video . Saved me some $$$
Glad we could help
Very helpful , Thank you Sir!!
Very good video I think the job will be easy now thank you
Very nice, thank you!
Do I need to lubricate the hinges and rollers after replacing?

i have the black roller without bearings, are the white ones quieter?
Nice and easy demonstration

Thank you for sharing this - great educational value.
Dont you have to bend the frame back in, wont it pop out or get stuck in that spot?
Thank you for a great video. A medium effort DIY looks like. One dumb question, if you're anywhere bending the railing to replace the bottom most roller, why not use it for all the 5 rollers without having to unscrew and re-screw all of those?
I believe he was just showing 2 different methods.

I appreciate your comment, the bottom roller on my garage door is off track and I'm definitely going to use your technique.
Thanks! My bottom roller came off track somehow, and your method worked flawlessly.

Hello what brand should I replace with? There's lots of options for nylons

no lube for the shaft? also as regular scheduled maintenance, do you need to lube rollers and if so what do you use and how often?
I would have applied lithium grease to the roller shaft--and hinge joints. Annually is a typical re-lube interval. The bearing in most of those rollers is sealed.
Excellent!
Thank you, quick! (And safe!)
nice video, thanks
How to know roller wheel diameter? Measure the railing, or outside rollers?
Thanks!
Nice, thank you!
Thanks I was able to fix my issue with this video
Suggestion: You should also mention that the roller goes in the holes on the side away from where the hinge is.
many thanks.....made me look like a pro .ha
