I had a lisfranc injury back in my high school sports days, so its cool to see Brian covering this injury. I wish doctors explained my injury to me like Brian does in these videos! Super cool video, thank you!
Hey there just wanna ask have you fully recovered from this injury since? It doesn't hurt because they didn't do weight-bearing x-rays. And apparently you were diagnosed with Lifranc regardless. It hurts because it is a serious life-changing injury.
Great Video! I heard the Lisfranc was a doctor in Napoleon's army who treated many soldiers with foot injuries as they were either dismounting or falling off their horses. Their foot apparently became stuck in the stirrup, causing the injury. Due to persistent pain from the "Lisfranc" injury, he performed a Transmetatarsal amputation to get the soldiers back into battle.
I suffered a lisfranc over 11 months ago now where I dislocated my entire mid foot along with some fractures and a few other dislocations requiring 12 screws, 6 plates, and a rod through the 5th MT and cuboid that was removed after 2 months. I got the rest of the hardware removed after 8 months. I’m seeing 2 physiotherapists at the same time and we’re just now starting to do some body weight calf raises. The biggest step we’ve made so far has been acupuncture, which made walking/standing for more than 10 minutes bearable. I’m a varsity athlete (swimming) and returning to competition has been my #1 priority, and we’re still not even close. This injury from what I’ve experienced can be life changing, and there is not enough knowledge about treating it from what I’ve seen and read. I’m curious as to how my surgeon attacked this surgery, if you read this I’m wondering what another person trained in this field would do or think about it. I have pictures of X-rays before and after if you want to see
Please share the xrays! I also suffered a Lisfranc infury , and just got my MRI. Im waiting for the final results and whether or not surgery is needed.
can you do a video on ice vs heat therapy? which one is better? I read somewhere that the guy that came up with acromyn RICE, refuted the first two parts of it. Saying that too much rest is bad and early mobilization is ideal, and the ice doesn't do anything and may prolong recovery time.

im assuming this isnt turf toe, but its the foot i guess! lol - i honestly dont want to see someone afflicted by turf toe to discuss, but it does seem to be a bit less common these days - so ill patiently wait until it does pop up!
