  • Major renovations are underway at several New York City Housing Authority buildings. Private developers are making the improvements at 16 properties in Upper Manhattan. They showed CBS2's Jessi Mitchell the planned changes and talked about how the improvements are making a difference.

    Long overdue. These improvements need to be made in all 5 boroughs of NYCHA.

    It's high time: NYCHA is one of the most mismanaged agencies. Their top execs make out like bandits with their generous salaries, while the tenants live in deplorable conditions.

    Aww that’s awesome i wish they can come to gun hill houses in the Bronx . All i want is my kitchen renovated with a new stove & fridge😔 I’d be happy with that. Come to gun hill houses!! We need the renovation too

    I am so happy the residenrs are getting an upgrade. My question is why Brooklyn is always left out Lafayette Gardens has been in shambles for years its a block 7 buildings all I want us my bathroom renovated and when I notify NYCHA I get ignored no one cares

    Linden Houses in East New York is getting the Renovations ... My apartment is being renovated as we speak ... The process is a Lil lengthy but well worth the wait ... Definitely feel proud to have company over ... Can't wait to see the full completion of the development ✨

      I just came across this in my development is on the go in this process and I’m curious as to how to the residence feel right now about this program. Has any residence been evicted and if so, why? Who is doing the calculation of the rent? Has the rent increase or has the rent decreased?

    Anyone know some of the safest Nycha houses? Someone told me that Nycha housing in lower Eastside have a lot of chinese immigrants and so it's safer. I don't know. Thank you to anyone who can help me out

      Grew up in the Alfred E. Smith projects, between the Manhattan, and Brooklyn bridges. Back then, wasn't bad. Not sure about now. Overall waiting list is years long, but you could luck out. Good luck.

      I live in Park rock consolidated houses in Brooklyn and I have a separate con Edison bill that is not included in my rent. That $50 credit is a bunch of BS because I also pay for water. My development is going under this program as I type this comment and I want to know what the residents are going through and feeling about this program right now 2023

    Get public assistance recipients and non violent community service workers to help out and learn a new skill. Will cut down on the cost. Make it a win win situation, not slave labor.

      I believe the rent is still gonna be 30%. And to be honest half of the people in NYCHA are dirty pigs starting with the elevators and throwing garbage out the window. Some need to go🤷🏽‍♀️

      @@BoricuaNyc Yeap, I was a Home Health Aide. I noticed it's mostly people not even on the lease so they don't care. Some come out of jail straight to girlfriend's, mother's, or grandma's home causing chaos.

      @@nat-ro3mb She probably worked hard and pay many years of taxes and only could afford to pay 30% of her rent. NYC has the HIGHEST rents.

      NYC is very expensive and it’s hard to survive so when people get into a rent stabilized situation they tend to stay there to be secure.

    There are people living on much a that are not paying rent. Some owe thousands. They don't complete annual rectification. And nothing happens to them.

    what about the ppl who pay their rent & go to work everyday that live in apt buildings that aren’t on welfare & section 8.. i work for amazon & deliver to marcy & for greene projects.. these ppl are nasty & unappreciative..their living for free & im basically paying for them to live for free because it comes out of my taxes.. they just going to destroy all that shit idk how you can live here in AMERICA & not speak the language & live for free??? you can’t do that where they come from..what’s the point??? i deliver their packages they don’t even say thank you..
