- Major renovations are underway at several New York City Housing Authority buildings. Private developers are making the improvements at 16 properties in Upper Manhattan. They showed CBS2's Jessi Mitchell the planned changes and talked about how the improvements are making a difference.
Long overdue. These improvements need to be made in all 5 boroughs of NYCHA.
It is, I live in the bx and this is already happening.
@@raphael7280 and how do you feel about it? Is it better or is it worse?
It's high time: NYCHA is one of the most mismanaged agencies. Their top execs make out like bandits with their generous salaries, while the tenants live in deplorable conditions.
40 billion? How much of that is actually going toward renovations and not lining pockets
Agreed.
@Jeremy Cheng I went to a meeting about this. They admitted in so many words that they will be going the cheapest route
So where's the list of the 16 properties???
Aww that’s awesome i wish they can come to gun hill houses in the Bronx . All i want is my kitchen renovated with a new stove & fridge😔 I’d be happy with that. Come to gun hill houses!! We need the renovation too
I am so happy the residenrs are getting an upgrade. My question is why Brooklyn is always left out Lafayette Gardens has been in shambles for years its a block 7 buildings all I want us my bathroom renovated and when I notify NYCHA I get ignored no one cares
Manhattan is always first you know that
@Mikey Crump not true we live in Manhattan and none of our nycha apartments are done everything is old and full of major repairs
I believe it's section 8 funding.
Good news !
Hope things get better for NYC
It was an experience of living in nyc
GOOD AND BAD vibes
Im 😢
What about the Bronx and Brooklyn?
The bronx yes because I seen it already, Brooklyn don't know maybe.
Facts
Its a solid start -- a ton of developments to go though.
BEAUTIFUL ❤️
Linden Houses in East New York is getting the Renovations ... My apartment is being renovated as we speak ... The process is a Lil lengthy but well worth the wait ... Definitely feel proud to have company over ... Can't wait to see the full completion of the development ✨
Did you move to a new apartment or they move you back to the original apartment after the renovation?
Beautiful, let me know when the house warming is so I can bring a gift. Bless Up!
I just came across this in my development is on the go in this process and I’m curious as to how to the residence feel right now about this program. Has any residence been evicted and if so, why? Who is doing the calculation of the rent? Has the rent increase or has the rent decreased?
That is wonderful.
Anyone know some of the safest Nycha houses? Someone told me that Nycha housing in lower Eastside have a lot of chinese immigrants and so it's safer. I don't know. Thank you to anyone who can help me out
Grew up in the Alfred E. Smith projects, between the Manhattan, and Brooklyn bridges. Back then, wasn't bad. Not sure about now. Overall waiting list is years long, but you could luck out. Good luck.
I live in nycha and I’m from the Bronx soundview but why my apartment is not getting done smh
Thank Goodness.
About time.
u mean in Washington heights
en Unity Plaza aún no han renovado.
Upper manhattan 😂😂😂😂 what a surprise…look at the apartments in brooklyn and queens
What about lower manhattan
Nice 👍
Do the residents pay utilities?
No
Nope. That's reperations 💰 for them
I live in Park rock consolidated houses in Brooklyn and I have a separate con Edison bill that is not included in my rent. That $50 credit is a bunch of BS because I also pay for water. My development is going under this program as I type this comment and I want to know what the residents are going through and feeling about this program right now 2023
Just to move ppl out who already can’t afford rent
Get public assistance recipients and non violent community service workers to help out and learn a new skill. Will cut down on the cost. Make it a win win situation, not slave labor.
Fixing up the slums how nice
They're changing the names of them also.
40billion ? They just gave that to Ukraine
OPERATIVE WORD : “PRIVATE INVESTIGATORS”
I believe the rent is still gonna be 30%. And to be honest half of the people in NYCHA are dirty pigs starting with the elevators and throwing garbage out the window. Some need to go🤷🏽♀️
@@BoricuaNyc Yeap, I was a Home Health Aide. I noticed it's mostly people not even on the lease so they don't care. Some come out of jail straight to girlfriend's, mother's, or grandma's home causing chaos.
@@DragonFlySmurf Exactly
She grew up in subsidized housing and still lives there. ?! Is she disabled? Why so many people in NYC cannot make living?
Send them money 💰 since you all in the business
@@BoricuaNyc No. The more money they get - the more they need.
@@nat-ro3mb She probably worked hard and pay many years of taxes and only could afford to pay 30% of her rent. NYC has the HIGHEST rents.
NYC is very expensive and it’s hard to survive so when people get into a rent stabilized situation they tend to stay there to be secure.
You will be finding out soon.
Still waiting 🤔🗽
How many years has she lived in that building?
Stop judging her.
There are people living on much a that are not paying rent. Some owe thousands. They don't complete annual rectification. And nothing happens to them.
What about Spanish Harlem. Carver houses on 104th Street are horrid and falling apart
🤔
Great. Now, TENANTS pay your rent on time.
Tge
what about the ppl who pay their rent & go to work everyday that live in apt buildings that aren’t on welfare & section 8.. i work for amazon & deliver to marcy & for greene projects.. these ppl are nasty & unappreciative..their living for free & im basically paying for them to live for free because it comes out of my taxes.. they just going to destroy all that shit idk how you can live here in AMERICA & not speak the language & live for free??? you can’t do that where they come from..what’s the point??? i deliver their packages they don’t even say thank you..
Not in Carvers nothing done same old none repaired apartments
