    I have the muse 1, but stopped using it because there were no longer any third party apps that worked. I used to use it in my meditations to get some fun feedback on how deep I went. (Don't like the muse monitor app that comes with it, because I find it more distracting, and doesn't do anything for experienced meditators)
    I used the mind monitor, but the website for "translating" the eeg results is not active anymore.
    Is there any new apps you would recommend for reading what branwaves are more dominant during a session?

Is there a need for higher datapoints for the same amount of time? if so, why was that not present in fMRI?

      Not enough channels (coverage) for focal seizures. Please consider ambulatory EEG through a epileptologist (uses glue and full coverage in 10-20 layout and lasts 24-72 hours at home) or VEEG at an Epilepsy center/hospital (same but lasts from 5-14 days, is videod, monitored in real time, and uses stronger glue)

I've got Visual Snow Syndrome which has been proven by MEG to be corresponding to Thalamocortical Dysrhythmia where there's not PAC between Alpha and Gamma, so lot of visual sensory input suppression is missing. I just wanna look at the waves when doing different tasks and compare with my symptoms awareness / cognitive perception.
    Symptoms from VSS: Light Sensitivity, Palinopsia (Positive After Images and Light Trailing/Streaking), Enhanced Entopic Phenomena (floaters and BFEP), Visual Snow (Static like dots) and Tinnitus. All related to the Dysrhythmia in theory.

    What product would you use if you have already been diagnosed with sleep apnea, and want a way to track how well your CPAP is working? The metrics from the device itself are not that useful. I don't have any issues falling asleep.

    • @SmallSpoonBrigade
      @SmallSpoonBrigade 2 года назад

      Honestly, in that case, you'd probably want something that tracks your blood oxygen levels as much as anything else as that's the issue that CPAP is ultimately aiming to address. For that, you don't necessarily need something that's going to read brainwaves. I've got a Polar HRM that will check pulse and blood oxygenation. If you really need the full view, then you'd consider adding something that can pay attention to the actual brainwaves. Sadly, the best option is no longer available. I used to have a Zeo and it did an amazing job. It's a shame they couldn't figure out how to make their business model work.

    Hey Cody, have you heard of the Bio-Well devices? I found them out via Joe Dispenza and I find the concept of measuring the energy levels of chakras, the energy field around people and even the energy of the room very exciting. What do you think of it? Would you consider making a video on it if you think they're legit?

    • @trexpl0s1ve
      @trexpl0s1ve 3 года назад

      @Rogene Eichler West Oh come on there is a huge and perfectly coherent spike on all electrodes while there is an energy of thousands of microvolts squared at various frequencies (regular levels are 10-60 microvolts squared). Even experts invited to his events say the subject must be having a seizure but brainwaves are in perfect coherence at unseen amounts of energy and the heart goes into coherence at the same time. Well I would agree with him that those guys are having mystical experiences indeed.

    • @trexpl0s1ve
      @trexpl0s1ve 3 года назад

      @Rogene Eichler West I don’t know what that’s supposed to mean. So you’re saying many of his subjects just spontaneously go into coherent gamma bursts with great amplitudes due to some external electrical signal? I wish people were a little less attached to their narrow systems of belief, maybe you would think twice before calling someone a crackpot. Good to be skeptical but I really dislike cynicism.

    Kernel costs from $37K-99K depending on the model you buy, how are you getting $5K?

    • @CodyRallMD
      @CodyRallMD  2 года назад

      They said the individual laser/detector modules were like $5K but I think you would need your own form factor to use it like that. I have not heard of them lending out individual modules for product development yet. Yes the $37K is probably their helmet with minimum amount of sensors and the software package.

    one feedback, when covering a lot of devices, from multiple categories, some time stamps would be useful... i really liked emotiv, but i balked significantly at their data handling demands and additional software license requirements... the 3rd party app for muse cost about $20, and you can retain a lot more control, on where your data goes... i am concerned as ai is already here, that the wrong brain data, could get into the wrong systems, and be used for very advanced social engineering manipulation through reverse engineering... maybe not today, or tomorrow, or next year, but it's around a corner...

    • @thegoonisgood77
      @thegoonisgood77 3 года назад

      i also hit delete on my facebook so as to start the new year fresh... so i can't contribute to that community (or give facebook and whoever, my opinions, which are probably mined on here too, but to a less extent)... i'll shoot you an email, but i'm in a bit of a cyber monday rush (10am tuesday here now), and would like to have a nap probably not soon, but hopefully before my wednesday :)

    • @thegoonisgood77

      yeah, i really wanted those emotive buds, and couldn't get my work at the time, to even acknowledge their existence... i paid money for something on a kickstarter, no idea when they are coming... and the responses from emotiv, were very corporation not quite sociopathic, but were not community caring...

  • @thegoonisgood77

    commenting again midway... my feedback on muse s, is that it's great for indoors, however you will run into an operating cost of needing new bands, so if sharing them, or for kids, or going for a run/cycle to meditate somewhere, sweat can eat away at it... so for clinics / gyms / outdoor / kids / sharing.... the muse 2, which i haven't used much yet, seems a bit more rugged, and easier to clean with soaps, or for virus concerns, uv light... so i need some more bands for the s, but i would like to set up sessions in the park etc... and muse 2, seems much better overall (no one is sleeping hopefully), and cheaper, for the price... i got quite confused, that silver is better than gold, that wasn't intuitive, and was difficult to find an answer to, i had to dig quite deep, and into scientific papers, to work that out...

    • @thegoonisgood77
      @thegoonisgood77 3 года назад +1

      oh, and things like myndlift, only work with the muse 2, which i found out after purchasing the muse s, and there are github projects and youtube clips, on how to add another sensor through the usb port, which don't seem to be available for the muse s... i don't know why, and maybe that will change, or has already changed, since i last looked into it...

    • @thegoonisgood77
      @thegoonisgood77 3 года назад +1

      having said that, if sharing in a family, and people don't all need to be meditating at the same time, a muse s, with additional bands, can work out cheaper i would expect, not as relevant to me, hopefully it will be one day...

    • @thegoonisgood77
      @thegoonisgood77 3 года назад +1

      and... just back from the muse store, wouldn't you know it, the one item, that is not on sale, are replacement bands, for the muse s... that sucks a bit... doesn't seem like a coincidence... intentionally or not, there is planned obsolescence, with the muse s, much more than the muse 2, and that increases costs, quite a bit... comfort and the sleep function, are not cheap...

    I find these type of devices quite interesting and useful.
    However...one thing is to collect data and to use it for different purposes and a totally different thing is to stimulate it with radiations or magnetic fields. (NeoRhythm, etc).
    You speak about "External control" (12:05) "affecting your brain"... "super charge your brain" (12:39). In my opinion, when you radiate your brain, even with "low power" radiations, you don't know what the effects are going to be and the consequences in the medium or long term. In fact, you are playing with your own brain .
    People can use binaural sounds at easy and to check the data with some of these devices in order to improve your exercises and results but to "estimulate" your brain with external fields can be, unless you are a real expert, like to play tennis with your brain and not with a tennis ball.
    Best regards.

    Thanks for the terrific information on brain devices. I'd like to comment on the video switching POV though. Nothing could be more distracting or damaging than having the speaker continually break eye contact with his audience. Communication specialists will attest that eye contact puts the listener into a form of trance with the speaker and breaking it is highly disruptive. If you don't believe me, try it with your spouse. When they're trying to get their point across to you in a discussion, just glance away like something else has caught your attention and see what response you get from them. I'm not sure who is teaching this to video editors but it's highly damaging to the purpose of the videos and I hope it stops soon.
